It's really funny how we use some of those expressions in Brazil. We have "Have no idea", "Don't ask me", "God only knows", "Good question" and "How Should I know", just translated!
How should I know those expressions could be so similar to the ones in Portuguese?
Its great!
Thank you for your help it means alot!

I already know I have no idea and No clue
U r great man good job
We use most of these in Swedish as well. Fun story about the “it’s all Greek to me” one. When working at my mum’s work for a summer I actually was handed the task of translating a production manual from Swedish to Greek ( I don’t know the first thing about Greek) So I said to my friends. “My work is all Greek to me, literally”😅
I arrived in australia only a few days ago realizing that I can't understand aussie english at all. Now I was looking for some help and have found your vids and I am so happy about it! You seem to be such a nice and pleasant guy and I will watch every single obe of your videos 😍

Hey Pete! Ha zit goin mate? 😉
I'm Jonny, from Uzbekistan (former Soviet Union).
Ya probly never heard of this country before. It's in Central Asia, north of Iran, south-east of Russia.

Good to have ya on youtube😉
Gon check ya website as well.
Cheers mate
I don’t think it is “better” because educated and other people still use “ I don’t know” in their everyday conversations. In many other languages, there is one or two ways of expressing one thought but in English there are many ways depending on the context including the setting, variation, culture, education, and whatnot. For a native speaker, it is easier to choose or manoeuvre the vocabulary. Bear in mind, words and tones do elicit different emotions as in many other languages.
Choose wisely your active vocabulary as it can have an impact either positive or negative on you. :)
Amazing
Hey pete, thanks for the video, I have 2 qs, in number 4 could we say "I cant FIND the heads of...." ?

I had no idea what it means.
“I can’t make heads or tails of this ! “
Is the second one that had never heard of.
😎👍
You da man! Love your videos mate
I wish you could explain in each expression, when it is "rude" or too slang, or when it is posh. It happened to me to lean Brazilian portuguese in the streets when I was a teenager, and I learned a very popular or uneducated portuguese. As you understand portuguese , I learned to speak in a very CAFONA way ( ask your wife what it is). And when I grew up, it was very weird to listen a "distinguished doctor", using slang words with my brazilian colleagues. They laughed a lot, and I didn´t realized that I was speaking in an inaprpropiate language with them. Then, would you please...??? Thank´s a lot.
Hey Pete! Enjoyed your vid🤩👍Thanks for teaching! What was that word in the end? Sounded like German Tchoos to me 😁😁 Was it some sort of slang? Thank you!
@@AussieEnglishPodcast That was in the end of the video. Like a Goodbye word right before the ending. 11:28? Thanks for your reply😊👍XOXO

Damn this is a f*cking nice content
I love Australia english I'm used to speak lot
Please teach us Aussie accent! Your know & no are kinda different from American accent.
It’s a hard one to explain. It’s kinda like the word know would be spelled knou instead. It’s almost, not quite, but almost like the American pronunciation of the word “boy” but you but an “n” before, so “noy” It’s really difficult to explain. Keep exploring and moving your mouth differently each time, you’ll get there. Practice makes perfect. Late answer sorry hope you’ve already mastered that Aussie accent mate!
I use in italian "how should i know?"
ya got me baffled
Waiting sir....
@@AussieEnglishPodcast Yes "I 've no idea" or I've no clue

When a friend of mine asked my opinion about the possible reasons quantum theory could derive from, I could not make my heads of tales of how far I should send him off
Native Australian English speaker here. One that I thought of while listening to this video (that my family and friends use a LOT) is “to not know [someone or something] from a bar of soap.”. For the English learners, this is especially used when talking about what someone or something looks like (it may also have other uses of which I am unaware). For example, if someone asked “do you know what my house looks like?” and I didn’t know, I could say “I wouldn’t know it from a bar of soap”
Aussie English Queensland 🙂 a lot of old country sayings that may be close to extinction in other parts of Australia are alive and well here 😂
Aussie English I always think of Australian English as like Québécois French 😂 and no not an English teacher but, as I have started studying French more deeply and encountering expressions (like « je parle anglais comme un vache espagnol » 😂) I have become more interested in the dialects of various languages and the peculiarities of Australian English in particular. Cool videos, keep ‘em up man 🙂
