I am so thrilled to finally see an entire program of Dressage in the Tokyo Olympics ~ Magnificent! Please, let these be prime time performances in the next Olympics ~ the world needs to see these horses and riders . Incredible, hard won, star athletes!
I love seeing the music changing throughout the years! It used to be all classical and now we get people using Pink Floyd, Queen, and other rock bands, and it suits dressage surprisingly well!
So glad for Jessica. That's what dressage should look like inside of the crazy rolkur techniques we see in some horses. This needs to be celebrated more that like edward gal and the other rolkur loving riders
Carl Hester and En Vogue are going to be a sensational partnership. Just loved their Olympic routine. My foot was tapping all the way through. Carl has such “quiet” hands just like Charlotte Dujardin. A pleasure to watch ❤
Honestly his reactions are a delight to watch. Looks like he's having a blast! It's this kind of dressage we want to see. And what a beautiful horse...
I think many are here for 24:35 the rave horse.... But they're all so lovely. I have NO IDEA about the sport, but they should broadcast this more on TV.
yup, the riders name is steffen peters and the horse is suppenkasper aka "the rave horse". one of the only riders i like on the us team but one of my favorite ones. i agree equine sports need to be aired more, so many people also misunderstand the sport but if people saw it more maybe id hear less people screaming about how "it isnt a sport the horse does all the work" :/
Sanceo just took my breath away. One of the most beautiful pictures I have seen in my long life. I know nothing about this sport, but I know beauty when I see it.
I love Sanceo and Sabine. They have just the most wonderful partnership. Very classical and well educated horse and rider, you can just tell in each movement that Sanceo was trained correctly and that Sabine knows just how to pull the very best from him.
Dorothee will always have my heart. She was the best rider here, but Showtime just couldn‘t deliver at his best. Such a shame, but I‘m glad it meant a medal for Charlotte
I agree with you 110%, + Dorothee is one of the nicest, kindest people you will ever come across, she is simply lovely. Fair play to Charlotte though, she always pulls it out of the bag - immensely proud of both Charlotte and Carl
This! I finally got to see Charlotte & Gio/Pumpkin! My DVR cut off the end of the event and I missed it live. Huge fan of her and this young horse. Thanks for uploading this!
Oh i love seeing you all enjoying yourselves. What a wonderful thing to save that beautiful boy. Your joy at this calm and kind boys responsiveness was just lovely. He may change a little when he gets fit but I believe the core of Cameron is kindness which is why he reacted so painfully to the death of his trainer. By the way, love the titfer. Thank you again for sharing your life and your work. You make me happy.
It's always the uninformed that says this isn't a sport or it's just the horse that does all the work. It took time for me to understand Dressage and most artistic sports as well but stop judging stuff when you don't even understand a fraction of it.
Subtlety is often hard to explain and appreciate, especially with so many people used to wild entertainment and instant results. Dressage needs to be seen prime time, especially in the Olympics, so experts have a chance to explain it, promote the horses and riders and answer questions from the public. Let the conversations begin!
Whoever says it isn’t a sport is crazy. Have you seen how fit all riders are? I ride every day, several horses. If I stop riding for only 10 days, when I ride again I will wake up sore everywhere. The other day a trainer asked me to ride my KWPN. After 5 minutes he was panting and asked me to wait till he caught his breath before he gave me his impressions.
OMG did you notice "B.H.Zack" how carefully he set down his hooves- in complete sync. with the music!! I´m awestruck, if the Judges can´t see the true Dancer performing for them, I´m sorry. This big boy is so comfortable with Nanna, it´s a pleasure to watch. When young he had a strong mind of his own, and so did his foals, along with heart, talent and spirit.
Wow Portugal! Obviously, there are the big guys but what an outstanding performance for Rodrigo Torres and Fergoso, IMHO (78,943...is seriously underrated !)
@@Eeee-xl4xb REALLY late reaction but that still is not an excuse to use music that doesn’t fit the horse. I think that if he had proper music that his score would’ve been way higher too.
Can you please post the eventing cross country phase?? Was hoping to stream it at a later time but NBC seemed to turn off all the replays as soon as the games were over 😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰😰
Sabine from USA seems so kind, as soon as she finished she rubbed her horses neck instead of slapping it, and then after dismounting she immediately loosened the girth. Refreshing to see someone put their horse first 💜
This is the first dressage I’ve ever watched. Is the difficulty in remaining composed throughout the performance and also queuing the horse with accurate signals for the deliberate parts of the routine?
Yes, in dressage aids (which are the gestures that communicate with the horse and are basically hands-reins, legs, body assets) should be as less visible as possible. The difficulty is in the training (it takes years to train the horse properly) and to not do mistakes. So you have to be very connected with your horse and VERY focused, both rider and horse. You have to be very composed while you're giving very complex signals to your horse. The horse shouldn't give any signal of distress, like swishing tail or pulling back the ears. If the horse spooks (which is not uncommon) or disobeys or doesn't understand the commands is of course a deduction in the final score.
The difficulty goes beyond staying composed and merely cueing and training the horse. You have to remember the entire routine, every step, and the movement. Count it out, signal it to your horse, all in time. You have to be able to adjust for your horse in a split second. Not to mention, it does take a ton of physical strength to do it. You also have to remain calm as when you tense, your horse will tense. At this level of dressage, the rider literally controls every single hoof movement of the horse down to inches. If the rider were to make a wrong movement in the saddle it could easily signal a horse as well train as these to do a completely different movement. It is actually mentally challenging for the rider as well as physically exhausting to be able to ride out these movements.
