    I mastered this as well. Nice playthrough, i always used the bubble orbs and spinning options. I actually recorded on VHS back in the day 😆. I did cybernator and Castlevania 4 without dying and got it on film.

      Nice! Do you still have the VHS tapes? If so, when's the last time you watched them?
      Thanks. Formation Option is so effective that it almost seems unfair. I should give the Rotating Option a try the next time I play. It might be more helpful on the bonus stages. Never played Cybernator, but I have some great CV4 videos that I bet you'll enjoy.

    Dying in mid game here makes it difficult already even in easy mode because you don't have enough powerups to activate your abilities in time.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu  5 месяцев назад +1

      @@pebble6248 No problem. I've been using Twin Laser for a long time, possibly since I first played this port. Seems like a good balance of power, rate of fire, and size of hit box. I have used the other lasers but I suppose they just never felt right for my style of play. I didn't see much of a reason to consider switching later on because of the success I had with Twin Laser. One thing that has changed since this run is that I use Formation Option rather than the default.

    A no death run on hard on the SNES version is a walk in the park compared to easy on the arcade version.

      Try playing Loop 3 for the SNES on the hidden Arcade difficulty or Loop 4 on Normal difficulty.

      @@bubufubu Ive done it many years ago Ive been a Gradius player since the original came out and still play to this day. The SNES difficulty on the hardest setting is a breeze compared to the arcade version. My comment wasnt a knock at the person playing I was merely pointing out tge difference between versions. I couldnt get past stage 10 when I used to play it in the local arcade it didnt have continues either.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu  Месяц назад

      @@METAL1ON You're still exaggerating the difference. I've played Gradius III for the Arcade and I've looped the SNES port on the higher difficulty levels. In the situations I previously mentioned, a lot of players would be lucky to get past the first stage. Not a breeze.

    • @METAL1ON
      @METAL1ON Месяц назад

      @@bubufubu Believe what you like but Ive been playing Gradius for 35 years and know what is hard and what is easy. SNES version was deliberatly toned down because of complaints about the difficulty.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu  Месяц назад

      @@METAL1ON I'm not at all worried about subjectivity on my part. If you were familiar with me, then you'd know that I've also been familiar with many games in the Gradius series for a very long time. What you're describing is accurate of a 1:1 comparison of the Arcade version and the SNES port, at default settings, on the first loop. Yes, there's obvious slowdown for the latter. There's also a difference in weaponry and features. No one is doubting that the difficulty was toned down for the port. What you're not accounting for is the increase in enemy ship speed and bullet speed in successive loops for the latter. To state that Loop 4 (Normal) or Loop 3 (Arcade) are "a walk in the park/a breeze", when compared to the first loop of the Arcade version, reeks of ignorance.

      @@wert556Broken? AC Gradius III plays fine and the gameplay is very well. The only shame of the Arcade version, is properly the toughest difficulty. I think Konami decided to make Gradius III toughest, because they believed that since the players after played 1000 times both Gradius, Salamander and Gradius II, becoming mastered and find the Gradius games more easier than before, Konami decided to give at the players the ultimate challenge. But they didn't expected that they exaggerated with the difficulty encreasement. At least when the game comes in Asia, some changes were made to make it "easier" than its mortal JP original counterpart. AC Gradius III doesn't have continues? Simple. Gradius III was never released outside Japan. Also, every JP version of the Gradius games (before Salamander 2), doesn't have continues. When Gradius and Gradius II gets released in the US (Gradius case/Nemesis) and in Europe (Gradius II case/Vulcan Venture) the localization team decided to add continues for these games (Three for Nemesis (US) and unlimited for Vulcan Venture). Oddly even the EU version of the first Gradius game (still Nemesis) doesn't have continues. So as per tradition, AC Gradius III doesn't feature continues.

    • @bubufubu
      @bubufubu  5 месяцев назад

      @@darkerfalcon3747 The problem with that justification for making Gradius III significantly harder is that it does _not_ take into account the successive loops. The difficulty increases with each loop, up to a certain point when it reaches the max. In 1988, the Gradius world was _not_ full of players who could breeze through all the loops and truly become masters. The successive loops are _not_ easy.
