This video was made solely for players who are struggling with having the right mental attitude on TEKKEN 8.
"Rage quitting," "plugging," whatever you want to call it, has and always will be frowned upon. Videos pertaining to this subject will usually consist of derogatory statements being aimed towards these kinds of players. But rarely do you see any videos trying to help encourage these players to cease these actions in more of a positive manner. Within this video, I expound on the topic of rage quitting and share my own personal experience with rage quitting and how I managed to rise above such actions. By the end of this video, you'll gain the motivation you need to rise above the rage and improve at TEKKEN 8 or any fighting game for that matter.

Came across this on my recommended right after a stressful lab sesh. The only thing that really frustrates me is my own stupid mistakes that made me lose. I really needed to see this bro, thank you
All you have to do is learn from them! I'm glad this video could help you
Nice video! One of my mentors told me, “You either win, or you learn”. Since starting fighting games, this quote always runs through my head and motivates me to watch replays, lab etc. and has helped me learn relatively fast imo
Your mentor was absolutely right about that and thank you! Keep improving my guy 💪
This video came on a right time I almost broke my headset an hour ago lol. I’ve been trying to apply this mindset for almost half a year now ever since Tekken 7 but Tekken 8 distracted me from that for whatever reason. But nonetheless I believe this mindset is actually really good for improving for instance I always used to get 0-2’d in tournaments but after some time I can actually win one or two sets in some recent ones. Sure it’s not Top 8 or Top 16 even but it’s great to see that I’ve improved from what a scrub I used to be. I’ve always wanted to become a tournament player and that ambition might seem stupid or silly as I’m not as gifted as others but I’m willing to try to get into that screen. Anyway appreciate the video lad keep working on it you got a new fan.
I'm glad this video became a good reminder for you! Participating in tournaments is something I would like to get into myself, but I still have much to learn for the character I currently use. Nonetheless, I'm certain you'll continue to improve as you keep your mental attitude in check.
Learn the basics and get really good fundamentals. Learn punishes and don’t bother with high-damage combos until you notice you’re just barely losing to people who’re pulling off those combos consistently.
I’ve been working on a complete T8 tutorial myself (not for this channel, though), so I can link you the video when I’m finished.
What would you say your biggest problems are in the game? What do you feel like you don’t understand/you’re missing?
@@notgonnapay Idk man I thought I already have the basic fundies down because I had 500 hours on 7 but when I switched to Tekken 8 I feel like I’m doing worse than I used to
@@catburried8861hmm, judging by your videos (from 8 months ago), I’d say you should work on your punishment.
Learn your 10, 12-14, & 15f punishers and try to play defensively and punish their attacks.
If a string ends in a mid, it’s likely punishable. If it ends in a high, duck and WS punish it.
If you don’t know if something’s punishable, try to jab after you block it. If it connects, it’s probably at least -10.
Oh, and almost all power crushes are -13 (unless they’re highs).
@@notgonnapay i have more recent videos that i unlisted if u want i can send it through discord or something
You really know what your talking about man, I'm feeling the same way when playing TEKKEN8, solid video my brother, keep up the good work my dude!!!
Appreciate it man! Glad you enjoyed it 🙏
@@CottoInTokyo 👍
I'm really glad I could have that much of an impact on you man. Seriously. You've grown exponentially ever since. I'm proud of you my guy.
These words are beyond wise!! Kid you not, took your words into consideration after feeling hopeless a bit, it really helped me remind myself to remain grounded and to take losses into lessons. I got frustrated and kept losing and realized I needed to take a breath and be calm, even if I’m cornered. Finally got out of orange, and almost to blue ranks for my main, Shaheen.
Learned new moves, learned patience, laugh at mistakes I made and continue to make, surround myself with good peers, and to remember to have fun. It makes a world of a difference. Many thanks!
Ayyy, that's what we like to hear man! Keep improving and props to you for being a Shaheen main
How you do anything is how you do everything. Call it the first and last rule of Life. Keep evolving!
this is dope to hear as Im exploring the journey of streaming and connecting in the fcg
"They understand why they lost." This. This right here is why I struggled for so long with rage and getting heated any time I played a fighting game. I love them but often times the games do not teach players enough for them to be able to understand what it is they are doing wrong. This is unfortunately the reality for most players in most games. Most games are completely unintuitive and have very poor learning systems. This was my main struggle in Tekken 7. I loved it but I often lost my cool because I couldn't understand what it is I was doing wrong or what I could be doing better and the game did not at all help me to understand. I have never been a rage quitter but it has always ruined my enjoyment over time. With the replay feature in Tekken 8 I can finally have a better experience learning and growing.
Dope video feel like the universe wanted to see this video! T8 is mad stress😅 Thanks bro
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope it helps you evolve into the player you aspire to be
I always think about how long it took me to learn modern Tetris (Tetris Effect). I literally been playing for four years now. I remember when a T-spin double seemed impossible and how I would obliterate my past self in the game.
I apply that mindset to Tekken. I'm always going to surpass myself; forget about how good others are. I can't be stopped from improving if I don't quit.
Ngl tetris at first glance looks so simple but has one of the highest learning curves I've ever seen in a game. It really teaches you a lot just by stacking block.😂
How did you go about it? Tetris doesn't exactly have guides for beginners
@@JunTheDude32 There are guides but they are more conceptual. You have to just play the game and be terrible at it. The best place to start is trying to keep a "well" on the right side of the board/matrix where you can drop line pieces. The process of trying that, failing and then practicing the process of "digging" is basically how you improve.
Tetris Effect has a cool mode where you play certain challenges like a 60 line clear, combo trials ECT that help to boost your understanding of the game by focusing on singular concepts. That helped me a lot.
Only just recently have I been able to clear 60 lines in under 1:30 seconds/ getting S ranks in multiplayer matches. I watch some of the best of the best and I still can't comprehend how they are playing at SSS level. My highest speed is maybe 80-90 drops per second and they dropping at a rate of 120+. It's insanity.
I needed this video lol. I've been on a mad losing streak in ranked Tekken 8 I've had 2 or 3 wins in 7 days. I don't rage quit but I definitely lose interest and walk away from the controller mid match. Makes it even worse that matchmaking pairs me with the same person 5 times in a row after they've beaten me easily 🤦
Taking a break during times such as those will make a world of difference, trust me
💯 Nice video. There should be more content like this. State of mind is EVERYTHING in fighting games. You could talk about frame data, balance patches, buffs, nerfs all day long... But if you're not approaching the machine from a neutral and disciplined state of being, none of those things mean anything.
The pain of loss is nothing but pure ego. You're just over identifying with the character. You end up pinning your entire self worth on the outcome of the match. You have to remember it's just a game and that you're playing it for the thrill and for the fun.
Gotta maintain that bird's eye mindset and keep the full picture in perspective. 🔥👁️🔥
Very well said!
After getting my ass handed to me multiple times when playing Tekken 8 at Acen I needed this video.
A wise man once said: If it takes forever, no surrencer.
I don't know who that wise man was, but I like the cut of his jibs. Even made a kickass song about it, I think.
Ever since I brought Tekken 8 I had one goal in mind, which was try to beat my previous highest rank in Tekken 7 (which was orange rank) and before that was Tag 2 with green. I managed to beat my record, but now im hard stuck in purple ranks. I have the mindset to know what my weakness are and what is happening in the game that will lead me to a loss, which leads me down a spiral of "Maybe i am trash with the character and ill never be good enough to climb" which is unfair way of thinking. It doesnt help me in the slightest and if anything it desmoralizes you even furhher each time you lose. For now, im trying to go in player matches and try and improve without having the pressure of ranked on my shoulders.
I get more mad at myself than other players. When i fall for the same thing over and over is when i get mad.
Great video! Very, very helpful. Definitely needed to hear this. Tekken8 is a VERY frustrating game. But, Most of my frustrations come from myself really. At times I would press to quickly and get counter hit/punish or I when I see someone literally backing all the way up To the other end of the stage, I get impatient & frustrated & rush towards them. Knowing that they want me come to them. Slowly but surely getting better at the game & keeping a level head. Would sure like to spar with you and any cool down to earth fighters that care to spar :)
When you realize that your frustration derives mainly from your own mistakes, you'll start to find yourself becoming less agitated with the game.
"Oh, okay, I wasn't supposed to press a button there."
"Damn, he got me there, didnt expect that, good stuff."
You'll find yourself being far more positive during and after matches because you're taking accountability for your own mistakes and understand the fact that you have so much to learn. It's all a learning progress. You're never losing essentially, only growing 💪

I never rage quit in a Tekken match ever...losing is a learning process. That's how you get better at anything in life. You learn from your mistakes and improve with time.
When fighting games started to have LONG combos , its really hard not want to get the hell off the game watching a mini cutscene eviscerate your health.
I really like everything that was said in this video
I'm a single-player experience gamer, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and give Tekken 8 a try.
Despite never rage-quitting, I'm in the phase which I'm frustrated by the losing streaks, the lack of execution, the few spare time to play (let alone practice) and the inability to counter mashers. Playing Tekken 8 is not fun for me right now, instead it gives me anxiety and fear to play because I want to improve so bad, watch tutorials but everytime I go online anxiety and frustration mount and I don't play light hearted.
I wish I can evolve someday, build some confidence and become a decent player.
Trust me, you will. It won't happen overnight, but at some point, you'll get to where you want to be as a player. Focus on learning from your losses
This was great content, I take my Ls like a man 😂 but I enjoyed this vid 🔥🔥
Neutral in tekken 8 sucks even when you're winning. It's not as deep
The only time you'll ever see me Alt+F4 is when someone's net decides it's time for a slideshow. The moment the game becomes unplayable for more than 3 seconds I leave if I'm not playing Asuka and am on Jin or Shaheen 'cuz you damn well know I'm gonna drop combos or inputs. Nothing is more infuriating than dropping something like b>n.>f inputs or stealth cancel ws3 on Shaheen because someone got clown ass internet. Usually when that happens I take a break and do something else for 5-10 mins.
Also I know it ain't me, I have a monitor dedicated to showing me my ingress/egress traffic amongst other pertinent network statistics/information since it's my job to do that as a network administrator, if it was me I would know, but 99/100 times it isn't. Honestly I just wish Bandai would do something to address their shit 'netcode'. SF6, GBFVS:R, GGST, DBFZ, etc. don't have nearly the same amount of connection issues as T8 and it's actually starting to get on my nerves.
Well said
I was playing a Jin yesterday and i just threw my controller on the bed and scrolled on my phone and let Jin just do his thing. If you wanna win THAT bad have at it.
It happens hence its best to take a break the moment you feel like you can't adapt.
What did bro even do 😂😂
@@seanbrown7083😂😂😂
I also block disconnecters and I report them as well as lag switchers
I just want to get to fujin man 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I wanna get past tenryu 😭
@@blurrymusic8560 same man, I'm struggling.
What is the first song playing in this video
I'm hard stuck at gayru needed this smh
wait. how is putting the controller down different from rage quitting? tf
I think we played recently lol I recognized this username it's true people don't wanna put in work and be people who have labbed hours into the same craft lol
And beat*
In tekken 8 I kept doing bad I’m rank, here’s what I do, practice, look at replays, and when someone cancels a rematch I’m pissed yea cause those people only want to win and not play for fun like it’s street fighter 6, but it is what it is. Oh and find a easy game character to play, I tried that dancing Zumba girl some RUclipsr recommended and I asked someone at the lounge for a friendly spare match and one dude was like “hell nah I ain’t gonna teach you shit” I’m like damn? ok no prob so forget him and I just practice for myself. Still getting there not there yet, it’s gonna take time but hey I’m ready for the challenges ahead. If I ever see you in the lounge, wanna match up?
Do I still rage here and then on tekken 8? Yea sure a little but hey I still kept pushing to play and try to be better and take a little breaks now and then.
Yeah I'm not gonna lie the TEKKEN community is pretty shitty. I've only managed to make one friend out of it thus far lmao. But as long as you're enjoying yourself that's all that matters. (Appreciate the comment on this reupload btw!)
@@CottoInTokyo shoot let me add ya! I would love to practice on your ghost :3, but yea I’m trynna have fun it’s a slow progress and yea I could have sworn this was an re upload lol
@RaySparkz sure thing bro. Just send me your TEKKEN ID and I'll add ya 💪
Agree that online tekken community isn’t the best, but if you can I recommend trying your locals if accessible. Really changed my tekken experience for the best, have met really cool ppl dedicated to the game. People are more inclined to teach/spar with you there
@@Blastabolt Hm not a bad idea, I’ll look into that thanks! also I main now mostly Kuma and I hit combatant rank.😊
I’m playing yoshi and I’m consistently losing against players in red rank and purple.
The thing is I know it is entirely me, I don’t try to launch when I can. Haven’t done replays much, and I don’t sidestep enough. I’ve learned not to press buttons as much now.
I just need to give myself time to learn rather than trying to brute force my way through.
If anyone is playing Eddie or Feng though you can uninstall and give everyone else a better experience 😂 jk
(Not really)
The thing that makes me mad is the disconnecters and the lag switchers they should be banned
I mean yea that’s understandable more games are fun when the homies are online or Shii we going head to head on the same console.👏🏾🤷🏾♂️
Honestly bro
I ain’t gone lie I was getting ready to uninstall the other day 😂😂 still grinding tho
Lmao I remember feeling that way sometime last month
@@CottoInTokyo glad it ain’t just me bro, everything you said in the vid is facts tho just gotta adapt evolve and find ways get better

Very simple stop pressing too much.
Stop doing rage art when ur health is low.
Stop doing the same sht when its exposed😂.
Respect other player😅
Do not hold back at anytime😅
Stay away grom the wall😂
If u lose to some bs string go lab it lol😅
Watch some tournament and observe🎉
Not me cos I’m just epic 😈🤘🤘😈
Can we be friends? I really want a training partner
Sure thing 💪
@@CottoInTokyo I'm on ps5 tryna learn Jin, I was a victor player but I've been watching Jin more recently
Tekken 8 is trash flat out I’m a OG Tekken 1 player, and the other day I saw a player get carried from one side of the screen to the other, simply by jungle kicks and heat, and what makes it so bad is that Original tekken you never had to learn a 10 hit combo in order to receive and conquer a victory over an opponent only thing you had to do was strategize. This franchise has been changed to cater to the FGC community in order to be accepted. What made this game Great was it was not like street fighter can’t say that now. And for the record, I’m purple rank.
Like, the actual 10 hit combos from the move list? Or launch combos? Because ten hit combos have always been cheeks
I’m a blue-rank player who’s been playing since 3; you just need to get a little higher to play against good people.
I will agree that 8 has a few characters who do way too much damage and is generally super unga bunga, allowing many low-rank players (King players especially...and I’ve always been a King player) to simply ignore the fundamentals and go straight for power crush, hopkicks, heat smashes, and rage arts.
Keep in mind: Tekken has always had at least a year in arcades to work out the final balancing issues; this was the first Tekken ever to be released directly to consoles and PCs. I have faith that they’ll fix it in time. And I hope to God they remove the armor on King’s Toll Kick. As someone who’s played King since I played T2 in arcades, using an armored Toll Kick that now does like 45-50 damage feels like cheating.
My Mayne! has always been King since Tekken 1, I just was telling my daughter the other night this is the first time Teck has ever released worldwide it usually releases overseas, then comes to consoles I really think that’s where the mistake is, i’ll remember at one point. Everybody did not have a Perry move only a chosen few. SMH it’s just too much of a juggle system and how many characters are we gonna get that can throw projectiles
@@daharm24 Yeah, I haven’t liked the combo system since it was introduced in 6. I’ve always been a fan of the grounded Tekken because it caters more towards consistency and skill than merely getting that ‘one big launcher’. Still, I think the combos in 8 aren’t as bad as they were in 7.
The fuck is this a parody comment lmao tekken 1?!
T7 was perfect game
😂😂This Video Not Intended for your sorry ahh
