@JOYRIDER TV Hey Joe, I'm looking at buying a barely used RS Venture SE with an asymmetric spinnaker and a few minor upgrades. Do you think this would be a good boat to get me back into monohull, cruise around the bay and maybe do a bit of club racing? Thanks, Joe
Hi! As always, wonderfully nice video! Would it be possible to upload a video about the process of getting ready the RS2000 to sail, including the asymetric? Having quite a hard time here with hoisting and taking down the damm thing and I suspect it may be related with the rigging.
Would any of these be nice to cruise on or all they all very aggressive boats? I kinda want something super simple to take in / out of water that is not a choir to sail and if possible not super wet.
Nice boats!! Joe, please do a video with the RS Aero in some good wind. I’ve wanted to try one of those for a while but haven’t had the opportunity yet.
So disappointing. Heavy plastic SMODs. Where are the Moths, the Payne Mortlock Canoes, the IC10s, the Fireballs? They are the boats from which the greats come because you need to really understand them and tweak them to make them fly.
These are the boats of a sailing holiday centre where the boats are used by a wide variety of sailors. I agree that the classes you mentioned are great for experienced sailors, unfortunately they wouldn't last here. Maybe i should change the title.
I know this is bordering on sacrilegious but i have to say it - the Opti is garbage. Sure the class is amazing and the opportunities for kids to race at an elite level are beyond any other class but it doesn't change the fact that it sails like crap and if you dump, you find yourself in a bathtub of water with no ability to self bail. The Opti gets a lot of kids racing but it's equally responsible for getting a lot kids to quit sailing for good.
Agreed - just sailing with your feet constantly in a puddle is enough to put most kids off! The RS Tera is a much better choice - and much more popular with the kids that are coming out here.
Thanks for the rundown on your mono-hauls! Adding a Fulcrum Rocket to your fleet would be a nice addition.,
Thanks for the idea!
what about europe dinghy yes it is a bit hard to sail but its faster and lighter than a laser also since they are older its cheap
That would be a good choice to have in the fleet - I'll keep looking for a good one.
I would enjoy a video on rs800 or 49er in the breeze just to see a little more diversity of boats :)
I'll see what I can do.
Love your channel. Need to visit from where I’m at in Chico, CA usa
You should! Thanks
Monohulls to sail is fun too, sometimes i could sail with a RS2000....but for me...there is one hull missed 🥰🥰🥰
Ha! Yes, agreed!
you should try a rs 600 or maybe even a musto skiff or rs 700 such fun boats and somthing relly challanging to learn over a week
Yeah for sure, I've always fancied the 700 especially.
I was out there with an Aero 5 and then the wind increased above 6 Bft. . It was a lot of fun.
Oh yeah! The Aero is such a great boat.
Id love to see you sailing all of them :D
I will see what I can do
@JoyriderTV will you sail the optimist?

Definitely.
I think it's a fine choice, although a little heavy - that you only notice on land - when sailing that will actually make it more stable.

OK, i'll take a look at it.
@@JoyriderTV thanks!!!!
Nice set of boats
Yes, we're very lucky to have the range.
Wait I used a zest before and it had a jib 😐
Yers, it's an optional extra.
Would any of these be nice to cruise on or all they all very aggressive boats? I kinda want something super simple to take in / out of water that is not a choir to sail and if possible not super wet.
For solo sailing the RS Zest is the one. For 2 3 or 4 people the RS 2000 is a really good boat, very stable and spacious.
Tyvm for the reply, appreciate it. Will have a look at the RS Zest :D @@JoyriderTV
Some people have spotted foiling monohulls as well! ;->
Yes, absolutely - in the fleet there are 'retro fitted' foilers - Lasers and Aeroes
You guys need a pico in your fleet
Quite possibly, we used to have them but they were replaced by the zests
I first learned to Isaid vv Ian optimi at summer camp
Nice choice. Probably the most popular starting point

Oh yes, great plan.
Shame they don't have a MPS.
Agreed.
Great advertising for RS. Obviously not for free.
We get a discount but that's all.
never seen a 29er with cloth sails
We had them made to be more durable
That’s what I was thinking
What! No Snarks? 😁
You don't get so many in these parts
RS Ad
It could appear like that!!
Nothing but a marketing action for the RS manufacturer😮 😢
I can see how it would look like that, but this is what Wildwind have in the monohull fleet.

O'pen Skiff a better option?
Agree 100%. Can’t stand them. My sailing club as a kid used to put them in JY15s as a pair. Glad I missed the opti class by a couple years
