I literally bought my first bottle of chartreuse yesterday as a Bday present to myself and I've spent the day looking for different drinks to make with it. Talk about timing!
Had to do something with the green chartreuse... Made 'the industry standard' first, then made this. Amazing drink with a beautiful colour. I love your channel Derek, cheers!
I just found 2 bottles of Green Chartreuse at my local grocer's liquor store for $66.99! That makes 3 spare bottles, and the one I am currently drinking/mixing from. No more searching. Swizzle! Last Word! Bijou! And do not forget as a digestif after a big meal.
I'm in the same boat as you, but for a different reason: I got two bottles as birthday gifts from two different friends. My takeaway from that is that (a) I have excellent friends, and (b) my friends like it when I can make them Last Words and Chartreuse Swizzles. A win for everyone!
This one has been a favorite since I first made it a year or two before the Chartreuse Crisis hit. I make this whenever something happens worth celebrating. So good.
I made this a few weeks ago, and it is absolutely delicious. The Chartreuse Swizzle and Last of the Oaxacans are two of my favorite Chartruese cocktails. Cheers!
Not available in Sweden…but you can do as me and order it from other EU countries…just did and my first bottle of green is on its way. Another note…your channel deserve more subscriptions…you do an amazing job here!
Derek, I keep binging your videos, I love all of them, you are a fantastic host and the production value is top notch. Thanks for making video, you are now one of my favorite youtube channels.
Well done Derek. My biggest regret about Green Chartreuse ... I put off buying this modifier for too long. Cointreau, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao, Falernum, Allspice Dram, Vermouth, Pastis, Campari, Aperol and St Germain should all come first (for my palate and preferences). But shortly after these, grab a bottle of GREEN Chartreuse. The Last Word, Chartreuse Swizzle and Pina Verde are my big 3 "first make" G-Chartreuse cocktails. Then go digging for more specs ... and enjoy.
Great episode Derek. I just restocked both of my green and yellow this week, whew!! Both were down to a 1/3 of a bottle I had been searching for over 2 months. Paid $100 for the green and $70 for the yellow in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. Have you ever tried a Swamp Angel? Delicious tiki drink with un aged thin agricole and green chartreuse, a real treat. Keep up the great work brother!!!! Okole maluna!
I've not had one. But just googled it and the picture that came up with the ingredients looks interesting. Has basically all the tiki staples. Will try that one out soon!
@@blakeanderson1214 might be true near you, but not available on Curiada, Drizly, or any large California online retailer at retail. Many are charging 2-3x retail. When it is available, most retailers are limiting to 1 per customer. So it depends on where you’re located.
Pretty common here in Quebec (maybe in the rest of Canada as well). 27 usd for a bottle. Probably really easy for any US resident to ask someone from up here to mail you a few bottles (well in some parts of the US anyway, as I don't know the states regulations on alcohol imports for all the states)
Did you tryed the Hula Hula Bang Bang? It is: 1cl Wray & Nephew 1cl Blue Curacao 1cl Green Chartreuse 3cl White Rum 2cl Fresh Citrus 2cl Coconut Cream 7cl Passionfruit juice Shake with icecubes and strain in an tiki mug that is filled with crushed ice.
What I can't find in my country is Velvet Falernum, but I've seen falernum syrup online. Is there a better way to substitute it? I just don't want it to be too sweet.
Yes. The syrup, or the syrup with some over proof rum white rum to create a liqueur is actually more authentic. Velvet Felernum is just a brand. The recipe from the Lost Tiki Lounge website is really good. Just make a large batch and keep what you aren't going to use immediately in the freezer
I know the 43% exist but not sure if that just in Europe or in other markets, including the US, as well. My bottle of Suze is nicely tucked away where it probably will be for some time.
@@makeanddrink Mine was delivered to me in NM from CA, FWIW. Literally arrived yesterday. Bought it partially just because I used to look at it and never buy it, now that I never see them, I wanted to have one just in case some spec called for it :D
Arent available in Sweden for the moment. The world might not need Chartreuse but those monks will need the money from the Chartreuse to keep their monastery. Everyone do need to pay their bills including some stubborn monks.
The "San Fran or Frisco" line killed me.

I work for a liquor distributor in the mid Atlantic region, we carry Chartruese. Didn’t know it was so hard to get since I see it every day.
Nice SF snark there ;)
Im kicking myself for not buying a bottle I found for (just) 65 bucks a couple of months ago...

Nu är jag sen på det. Men varifrån beställde du?
pina verde is the perfect charteuse cocktail

That’s awesome to hear! Thanks so much 🙏
I loved the music
I must be lucky. This stuff is everywhere around me and just sits on the shelves
Jealous. I can't find it.
That’s way Chartreuse Forward
- your channel still needs to be discovered
- one of the very best
Thanks so much!

I can't disagree with your list. It's pretty right on for me!
I just got a bottle of john d taylor yesterday and it was a revelation! However i really cannot take allspice dram :)
Nice presentation! However, may I say that the drink's creator adds nutmeg over the top and it does make a beautiful difference. Cheers!

The availability issue seems to be indeed mainly in usa. In Europe and Singapore its pretty readily available
Nah. It’s everywhere in the US

It took me forever to find a bottle of yellow in Houston. Luckily green can still be found around here
LOL thanks for the lingo tips for my next trip to "Frisco"! People are going to think I was born and raised there!
And if you leave the city just call it “Yay Area!” They’ll love it!!!
@@makeanddrink Will be sure to work that in when I visit locals only spots like Alcatraz, Lombard Street and Ghirardelli Square!

Secured two bottles recently. Not enough.
Let’s diminish the global supply! One bottle at a time.

Odd, the yellow I got yesterday is 43%. Now to use it! (also bought a Strega, and a Suze).
