I love the naturalness of these interviews with celebrities and raw honesty, on another note, it's horrendous what happened to George Floyd and a change has to come or else it will lead to the mass destruction of this country. I am 68 years old and was racially profiled , while driving a client home, in her car. I drove her to pick up a food order. We saw a White police officer , in the restaurant parking lot, where he had completed a traffic stop of a young Asian man. As I was walking back to the car, the officer and ai made eye contact. After seating myself in the car, I mentioned to my client that I felt uncomfortable about the cop and thought that he might pull me over. My client was an elderly White woman. She seemed perplexed about my statement regarding the possibility of being stopped by the cop. We proceeded to drive to my client’s home. Just as I made a left turn, I saw lights flashing as the cop ordered me to pull off of the road. The cop came to my side of the vehicle. I asked him why he stopped us. He stated that I failed to signal prior to turning left. My elderly White female client insisted that I did signal prior to turning and that the car belonged to her. At that point he , he decided to forgo ticketing me and issued a verbal warning. I believe that if my elderly White client was not in the vehicle , he would have issued a ticket.

I was born and raised in the Washington DC area. I moved to the Caribbean over 20 years ago. Two of my sons have decided to further their education in the states. I had a discussion with one of them after Mr Floyd was murdered and it broke my heart to hear him say, "mommy, I know I'm not on level playing field with others." All we can do as humans, not black or white but children of Adam is to pray for justice and safety for our children.
Currently rewatching Watchmen and it is the perfect companion piece to today's climate.
It really is resonating in so many different ways. Down to The Millennial Clock , scary.
She's just a phenomenal actress,just finished binging southland. That show was amazing,sad it didn't get a proper finale.

The movie "Imitation of Life" helped me understand what Black folks go through. The movie is a must watch IMO. It was a compelling movie for its time. As a white person who didn't see what was really going on. I was sheltered. White privilege IS a thing.

When I came to the US 28 years ago, my relatives used to say that we didn't need to have fear of the police because they weren't like the police is El Salvador. I was 12 so I didn't really pay attention. Once I started going to parties in my teens I used to see cops grabbing my friends, and slamming them against walls, and tables who were just 16 years old. They were Latinos, and you knew you couldn't talk back because nobody was going to listen to you, and you were going to be thrown in the paddywagon for just talking back. In that moment I knew we were treated as 2nd class citizens also, and if you didn't know English, might as well give up your rights to them in a silver platter.

Jimmy, how could you not know about “the talk” that all black parents have to give their children - especially the young men? How can anyone live in this country and not know that? I’m honestly surprised at the surprise.
There's so much distraction and varied media, and there's still a lot of ostensible segregation in our country.

I think some many people have to give themselves civics lessons. i am from Canada and we only required to get a half a term of civics to graduate high school. I have been learning to navigate my own. I think if governments want their countries to succeed, they should make sure that the student's have the knowledge to navigate the different levels of government.

We should organize and centralize as Afrikans in the west. ordering our own lives thru governance, education, economics and social structuring towards a goal of repatriation to our Motherland of Afrika or to the Caribbean where you get to live among predominantly Black People and from an economic standpoint live a better quality of life for a lot less! Not to say the Caribbean doesn't have problems but as a Black Woman from Jamaica whom has returned home from the US and have been encouraging my Afrikan American friends to set some roots down here on my Island as another alternative to Amerikkka, I think it is something to look into seriously!
Let's face it Amerikkka has never been friendly to Black Folks whether you are born there or you migrated there! I lived there for seventeen years and been home now for nine! I am happy to have made that decision to do so, but I have two grandsons living in Amerikkka! My daughter lives there! I have lots of other family there, many of them males. I fear for all of them! I have friends all over the country that I fear for! I saw it all when I was there. I experienced it all! Amerikkka is a racist society, it is built on the backs of enslaved Afrikans who had to endure white supremacy/racism at another level that we can't even overstand not having that experience so intense in the Caribbean. Yes we have racism in Jamaica but it becomes so entwined with classism that at times it is just plain ridiculous! I made the transition with ease. I Love what I have been doing here in the last nine years. I haven't fully achieved what I set out to do when I returned home but I Love where I am at the moment. There is a certain sense of calm and relaxation that I have being home that I never really had in Amerikkka. The constant onslaught of racism on your person, your psychic, your everything is very laboring. I lost that weight when I came home.
In the now moment though that racist past has everything to do with their current actions! White Amerikkka have not reconciled with its racist and demonic history as regards its unfair and violent treatment of its Afrikan/black population, because an admission of guilt will only make them look like what we've been saying all along has always been true and still is!
PBS made a documentary several years ago titled The Talk - excellent!

black families can tell their sons' how to behave when they interact with cops til their blue in the face and you know what, sometimes it still don't matter. the cop is going to do what he's gonna do regardless of how respectful you are. A pure example is when that cop had his knee on George Floyd's neck and he was still saying sir, still trying to show respect to a animal that totally didn't respect him and you see what it got him.
The cops need better training and taught from home as kids too. Don't teach to hate or make bad comments that leads to that. Live & let live.
