I'm taking my Wastewater Operator Trainee Written Exam in a couple days, and these videos are extremely helpful and give me confidence on taking it! The videos are also easy to understand and you do a great job explaining the answers!
I’m new to the world of wastewater and boy I tell you it is too exciting learning new stuff. With that said with my book in hand accompanied by your site I just found I’m certain I will walk into the testing site with enough to take a bite out of crime. Thanks a lot God Bless!!
Preparing for 3A in NY. I'm terrified, haven't even gotten my classes in and all I hear is they don't properly prep you anyway. Thanks for putting these up to at least help me know what I need to understand better before going in.
I take my test next week (just a Nevada waste water grade 1), I’ve watched all the videos. Got like 95% right. Missed a few about polymer and the seeded bod questions and what not. I can assure you I’ve learned more from RUclips videos/on the job training, then I have the Ken Kerri waste water books haha. For me I’m more of a hands on/visual learner. The ken kerri books are just such dry reading for myself. Awesome job man. These videos kick ass.
Wow, what a comparison! That is a huge compliment, thank you! 🙏 The Sacramento textbooks (Ken Kerri) are great. I use them as a reference but I agree with you, it can be tough trying to learn from them. I make these videos for people like you. My main focus is to make wastewater content that is easily digestible and straight to the point for operators wanting to learn more. Good luck on your exam, let me know if you pass. Always interested in what kind of questions people are seeing on their exam so I can better tailor future content.
Your words are much appreciated! The most important and time consuming part of creating one of these videos is making sure I give an explanation that is clear and adequate to the question being asked. Many times these questions/answers could be videos in of themselves (might be in the future). Again, thank you and glad you’re finding them helpful! Goodluck!
CONGRATS!!! That is awesome and you should be proud of the accomplishment! Thank you for letting me know, this is my absolute favorite thing to hear! :)
Thanks for these videos, best I've found so far. Preparing for class 3 in Ohio. Working at a small class 3 facility with extended aeration and just aerobic digestion the explanations of different treatment units and how they operate really helps. Also the math formulas you refer to are those from the ABC test/3rd part? In Ohio ABC test are different then the Ohio EPA writen test, which they quit providing so only option is ABC now. Thanks again hope to see more.
Extended aeration and aerobic digestion, sounds like a pretty neat plant. It's so important to have well rounded knowledge when it comes to these exams, which is something I think my exam does a good job of touching on. There is always more to know about all the different processes though. Your studying should go beyond my videos, but I believe this is a good guide to some of the major concepts you will see on a exam. I am from New York, so that is what the formula sheet is based off of. I just check out the Ohio one and it is VERY similar (NY seems to have more on it). All the standard formulas you would expect to see are on the Ohio ABC formula sheet as well. So it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for watching and Goodluck!
@@worldofwastewater your right and I've took a training class for all my exams they are extremely helpful, just meant your videos are probably the best I've seen. They should be worth contact hours.
Thank you! Glad you appreciate the format and for finding these videos helpful. Comments like this really keep my enthusiasm going. To answer your question, this test isn't specific to any state or class of exam. These questions are meant to cover a wide range of topics that you should be aware of and know for any wastewater exam. There is no way of knowing exactly what will be on any exam for any specific state but no matter where you take your exam, these concepts will be there to some extent. Of course not all these questions will be on your exam, but I can guarantee some will look similar. Some questions may be more difficult than ones that are on your exam, which is great. If you can answer difficult questions, simpler questions should be easy. Goodluck!
This exciting. I have a biology degree I've been thinking about trying to get a water plant job.. and I answered a bunch of these correctly without even knowing what the job was really. 😃👏👏
Taking my test tomorrow all this info is a little overwhelming. Wish me luck. Thank you for these videos i think i retain more watching these videos then reading the books
@@JohnZman Sorry to hear that, but keep your head up. It is a tough test but trust me, if you keep studying you will pass! Get behind as many questions as you can and read some textbooks, it will begin to come together. Goodluck!
@@JohnZman Sorry to hear that but don't get discouraged. The test is not meant to be easy. I know quite a few people who failed multiple times but they kept studying and figured out what they needed to study more of and eventually all passed. Goodluck and keep going!
I appreciate the suggestion. This test is meant to be for everyone. This test goes over a range of topics that an operator will likely need to understand no matter what "grade" test they take or where they take it. I always say, if you end up studying harder questions than you may be required to answer on a exam it will make taking the exam much easier. Secondly, because there are differences in what "grades" can mean in each state, it's hard for me to do that (I'd have to list 50 different states). In some states a "4" license can mean the easiest test and might mean most difficult exam in others. Let me say again, I appreciate the suggestion. Goodluck on your exam and hope you find these videos helpful.
Great content! Going for my wastewater exam soon and was wondering if you had an answer sheet for your practice exam? Thanks for sharing the videos and practice questions

I just found your channel and am going to dive into the videos. I'm in Denver Colorado testing for my C license. Which videos/practice tests are geared towards that level? Please let me know. Thank you doing these videos and practice exams.
You will absolutely find these concepts and/or some similar questions. Many people have told me that these questions helped them pass their exam from all over the USA. However, these videos should not be the only thing you study but will definitely give you an idea of what to expect and what to dive deeper on. Thanks for watching and goodluck!
Man! Thanks for all the hard work putting these videos together. Tons of help and excellent explanations for everything. Really appreciate the effort and look forwards to more videos in the future.
Thank you! Kind words like yours really keep my enthusiasm for this channel alive. I look forward to delivering more videos. Glad you find them helpful!
These questions can be found on any wastewater exam, they go over concepts that every operator should become familiar with. I know for a fact that these questions have helped many people prepare and pass their exam. This is not a copy of any specific test. Thanks for watching and good luck!
Having zero BOD in the effluent is something to be proud of, nice job! I wouldn't call question 3 wrong, as it is in regards to the testing of BOD in actual samples whereas the blanks are part of the QA/QC measures that are in place to prove reliable and accurate testing. Nonetheless, you do bring up a good point that should be known. Which is, BOD blanks should not have a depletion greater than 0.2 mg/L, which would indicate no contamination of the dilution water. Thanks for sharing. =)
These are great; but what level are they focused on? I'm writing my class 2 in Ontario next month and I don't find the textbooks suggested by OWWCO very useful
These videos are great for any level, however they lean to the more advance levels for most exams I would say. But if you learn these, the lower level exams should be easier. I have used the WEF and Sacramento State textbooks a little while studying. Honestly finding practice tests online and completing as many multiple choice questions as you can is the best way to prepare for the exam (in my honest opinion). Read up on the stuff you are less familiar with or don’t have at your plant. For example my plant didn’t have a digester, so I studied PowerPoints that I found online that explained them. Goodluck and thanks for watching! :)
I do do that because it wouldn't be helpful for actually practicing for the real exam. You are given a sheet with formulas and conversions when taking a wastewater exam in America (and I'm fairly certain in all of Canada and probably the rest of the world). With that said, I encourage you to use the formula and conversion packet that will be given to you when taking the test in your state. This can usually be found online where you sign up to take an exam, or ask a fellow operator colleague. Thanks for watching!
These questions go over general and fundamental concepts of wastewater and you will most definitely run into some of these questions, or similar ones no matter what state you take an exam in. You can find a link to the test in the video description. Thanks for watching!
You should expect to see some of the questions I go over in this series. :) I cant speak for every test and every test question there is but most exams follow the same categories state to state. The biggest difference is that there can be questions regarding specific state regulations for the state you're taking the exam in. Goodluck!
Even though choice-A describes a sludge blanket, sludge blankets are not specific to primary clarifiers, which is why choice-C is the better answer. Thanks for watching and good question!
I really don't see the difference between question #2 answers A or C, other than C is more generalized. Even in your explanation, you say "solids that settle on the bottom of the clarifier...".
I understand where you are coming from and to a certain extent choice A is sorta correct but it isn't the best choice. I will admit I would probably change that choice so the answer is more clearer if I could go back. With that said a sludge blanket isn't specific to only primary clarifiers. The question is asking what is a sludge blanket in general. Choice A is an example of a sludge blanket, but not the definition of one. Great question, thanks for watching!

However if you are looking to get your wastewater certification you will need to take several wastewater courses (depends what state you are in).
