  • NVIDIA has been relying on DLSS advancements to stay way ahead of AMD, but what happens when AMD catches up and makes a driver level super sampling available to ALL GPUS?!?

    Haven't tested it yet, but I really like the fact that AMD just said "here's the feature, and anyone who owns a recent-ish card from us can use it at no additional cost". Am looking forward to seeing whether it will make a difference on any of the games I play, most of those are either already running very smooth or way too old to use this (although I use a DX11 renderer for a 23 year old game, that could be interesting)

    • @Natej3ds

    Appreciate the video. Also appreciate using a midrange card rather than the beasts that most content creators use while telling everybody not to buy them. Makes experience much more useful rather than just a showcase of what the tech CAN do, but not what most people will likely get out of it.

    I think the disabling on large movements is mostly to prevent it from trying to interpolate between different camera shots for cutscenes and such. It'd be nice if they had a setting to tweak the sensitivity or turn it off on a per-game basis

    • @SpartanArmy117
      @SpartanArmy117 5 месяцев назад +5

      This exactly. I get they don't want it making a ton of mistakes but the constant on and off effect has been shown to create micro stutters which is way worse than the difference between 60 and 90 fps or whatever it would push a game to. I love what they're trying to do but I struggle to see use cases for it outside of maybe a game like cities skylines or something that's pretty static.

    • @rmiah
      @rmiah 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@SpartanArmy117the microstutters are only really relevant in competitive games like CS2 and Val. I’ve been using AFMF since release and it works really well playing GTA, Apex (surprisingly), FF7 Remake; the only games ive been playing besides CS2 FWIW. The auto disabling isn’t even noticeable.

    Been loving this frame Gen tbh it has helped out alot on gpu usage as well for games that don't utilize gpu much like neverwinter for me went from using 35-55% gpu utilization now it's at that magic number of 99%. I will say latency wise I haven't seen more then 5ms so I'm not sure why your test show so high. I will say to test with enhanced sync and windowed full screen instead of exclusive.

  • @bes12000
    @bes12000 5 месяцев назад +16

    The thing AMD doesn't mention officially is AFMF also works with Vulkan games Red Dead Redemption 2 and Ghost Recon Breakpoint are the games I tested and it works, little bit glitchy at first though, might have to toggle the full screen or borderless fullscreen a few times and then it finally kicks on. also AFMF works best on 1440p high HZ variable monitors or a 4k variable monitor that has a high HZ and you can get over 60FPS on the games, locking the FPS to 60 or higher WITHOUT USING VSYNC will make the experience better, I been testing it since the first beta driver.

    I just bought Lossless Scaling on Steam for 6 bux and its friggen awesome. Their upscaling is better than FSR and it has frame gen for any game as well. It took me a min to figure out how to set up but works great on a lot of game on my ROG Ally. I went from 45ish FPS in Undisputed (boxing game) to 120fps with upscaling and frame gen using Lossless Scaling. This framegen doesnt disable in fast movement like AMFM and is much better imo

    not interested in gimmicks such as frame gen and other dogshi down-scaling tech like DLSS. Bring back RAW performance on NATIVE resolution for DECENT prices.

    Woah. First time I see Phil host a video on his own. Really well done. He feels so relaxed and chill in his role, as he's done nothing else his entire life. Bravo sir. 👏
    Nice that Jay can get the rest he deserves and needs as well. Win Win.

    Good job, Phil. Great info! My ears perked up when I heard “Z1”, not because I know what that is in today’s context, but because there was a company back in the late 1970s that made intel-equivalent cpus using “Z” as header of the sku (Z80 for 8080, etc.) I interviewed there while being a temp at Intel. 🙂

    Great breakdown. This is pretty amazing stuff, especially supporting older cards but a variable input delay? Just lower your resolution or get something better until you get the frames you want. Consistency is so everything!

    Great job Phil! Pro tip: notice your eyes moving left and right when the camera is on you. Connecting with the audience with your eyes helps keep them captivated. Don't be afraid to lock eyes with the camera. I know it can be uncomfortable but it brings us into the conversation with you. We love you guys and keep up the great work!
