Hello from spokane wa. These buildings make me so homesick. I grew up farming in wilbur wa. These old buildings cared for someone, defended someone, protected someone. To see them all alone and defensless really sadens me somehow. Your vids are so well done. The time of year and atmosphere are wonderful.❤❤❤
I am 52 and have lived here all my life. I grew up in many small towns that are now dying or dead; Darmody, Neville, Lac Pelletier (the town not the lake resort), Stornoway, and Stenen. I love seeing these videos and I can remember those days. The one on Wroxton, I immediately recognized the Chinese Cafe, the most popular type of small town cafe during my childhood. There is an amazing church east of Stornoway on the 8 hwy.
Born and raised in Saskatchewan and watching from Regina. I’ve always been drawn to photograph old buildings and your beautiful video is motivating me to do more of it! Thanks Chris!
The province of saskatchewan had to be nearly 50% Ukrainian at one point. There are so many even to this day. Regina Sask has a killer Ukrainian Bakery/Deli. It's a must stop if you're ever there.
Bankend, wishart, west bend are in my hometown area of Foam Lake and I know all of those well along with Insinger on the way to Yorkton on the 16. Love these videos. Around Bankend and Wishart there is an old Ukrainian Catholic Church in an old townsite called Holar. My grandparents on my mom’s side are buried there.
@@attrell all that is left is the church nothing else, but it is a beautiful old church. Well at least it was last time I was there about 15 years ago.

Hello Chris from Jasper, Texas USA. I really enjoyed watching this tour of old forgotten towns in Canada and thank you very much for taking us along with you. Some beautiful old churches here that look like they belong in Europe, not North America. Never been to Canada before, but now you made me want to go. And im proud your back, ive missed your tour videos. Ed
My father-in-law grew up near Insinger. He moved to Theodore after high school and managed the credit union there. I love seeing these vieeos. I lived in Saskatoon from 82-94. I live in Comox, BC now.

I have been through Insinger, Goodeve, Wroxton, Sintaluta, Candiac (and even know someone who is from Good ol' Goodeve (shout out to you, Zoey!)!). If you want to see a beautiful ghost town church that has been RESTORED, go to Sunset Beach, Sk, and ask someone at the Camp Store to take you to the Cotham church (pronounced CAUGHT-em). Tell them that Hayden DeGrow sent you! They'd love to have the place featured on a video like this!
My husband and I summered in Langham SK, for 7 years (5 months) then lived in Saskatoon 2 years. I had to move back to the US (Oregon) when hubby (a British/Canadian) died. We used to visit waning towns like that as I am a photographer.

Howdy from East Vancouver BC. I grew up in Saskatoon during the 1960s-1970s. Both sides of my family have roots in Sask going back 140 years or so. My Mom grew up on a farm near Govan SK. My Dad was born in P.A.; his father was a gov’t grain elevator inspector who lived in several towns in different parts of Sask. After serving in WWII, Dad settled in S’toon and had a lifelong career as an assessor with Revenue Canada. His job entailed driving all over Sask, visiting many of the towns and farms shown in these wonderful videos. I imagine he’d be pretty sad to see what’s become of so many of these places. Dad & Mom retired to Victoria in the 1980s, and lived out their lives there. (Note: before anyone jumps on a Revenue Canada assessor, I can tell you that Dad often *helped* farmers and business owners stay out of trouble with the Feds, by ensuring that their books and returns were done correctly. Very, very rarely was he ever involved with prosecuting anybody.)
We have a few little Orthodox churches hidden in the bush north of Edmonton, but nothing like all these big beauties, just one moved to the Ukrainian Cultural Village. I spent time growing up in the 70s, north of Melfort. Saskatchewan is the most peaceful place on earth.
It’s not anymore… But praying for peace to return. There sure are a lot of beautiful little churches dotting the landscape. We also used to live in Alberta, and looked into buying a church north of Edmonton to fix up and live in, as it was so sad they were tearing some of them down. Unfortunately, the foundation was just too bad to do anything with, and it wasn’t feasible at all. I still think about doing that.
I'm originally from a very large farm in eastern Alberta, but I live in Edmonton. We have a lot of Ukrainan churches in Alberta, in the east central part of the province. Those Ukrainan churches are in the prairie provinces in Canada, and in the neighbouring states in the USA. These small townsand villages fascinate me. I do like photography immensely, and old buildings and grain elevators are nice to photograph. Have you ever explored ghost towns in North Dakota? This video was great. Cheers! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🇨🇦

I also managed a couple of stops this weekend driving hwy 14 to Macklin. detoured to Adanac and Phippen. Very little left but still worth the detour.
Whitkow, this is where my step-mother came from - dad married in Nov of'65 after Mom died, of rheumatic fever (had it in childhood). Whitkow....now gone. As do most small places, all AROUND THE PLANET ; deal with decay, folks. Cause we are all going there,.....some day...../ Thank - you Chris Attrell. (from a farm, west of Battleford, Sask )
Hi, Chris - I really enjoy ALL of your videos, so glad I found you! You showcase such fascinating old structures of all kinds, as well as the occasional rusting relics, like the old farm machinery in this one - so cool!. There were some truly exquisite old churches shown, too. I'm watching from Ohio, down in the U.S. And by the way, I do contribute to our local, wonderful cat shelter from time to time; they do such amazing work. Evidently, you didn't run across any "mayors" in this video... 😊
This is another very interesting Video Chris. Thanks so much for sharing. I'm planning a trip to North/South Western Sask next week so I will have to check some of these spots out. I'm kind of surprised you didn't run into the Mayors of any of these little towns on this trip lol! I am living in Cochrane now and I plan to donate at least $10 to our local animal shelter to help make both yourself and all the animals within happy. Keep up the great work!
from Mississauga Ontario (greater Toronto area) WROXTON! The building on the corner with the red door use to be Tatryan’s General store. My Uncle Nick was married to the Tatryans daughter I think the doors closed in the early 1980’s? My aunt and uncle farmed just a few miles from there. It was always a great day when we had to “go to town” because us kids would buy a box of that pink popcorn 🍿with a little toy treat in the box. The few pixie straws that never lasted long enough for the ride back to the farm. We were the kids from Toronto who were fortunate to spend every summer at the farm. I remember when the town was hoping. Grocery store, shoe repair shop, Co-Op, barber, ahhh the good old days 😊 The Ukrainian church was something else on the inside. Every surface was covered with beautiful hand painted religious imagery. It was stunning. Back in the ‘90’s a second Ukrainian church was levelled. Only a few years ago I moved to that old farmhouse for a couple of years. Then off to Kamsack and then Norquay. I’m back in Ontario but, my heart is still in Saskatchewan ❤

Wow thank you!
Oh wow I didn't realize one of these wooden churches is just 20 minutes from the property of one of my cousins and her family!
Live in Bozeman Montana, USA. Watch you every chance I get.
THanks for watching!
From moosomin Saskatchewan, spend all of my spare time exploring the country looking for old houses to explore
Thanks for watching!
Ha ha no Mayors in this video. Glad you contribute to your shelter, that is great!
Hi from Calgary Ab. Great video! Some of these buildings are works of art! Look forward to seeing more.
Thanks for watching!
Watching from Victoria BC. I spent a lot of summers at my Grandfather’s farm in the Redberry RM near Krydor. I have been to the Hotel to by beer.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you thank you! No Mayors this time :) Have a great trip!

WROXTON!
Grocery store, shoe repair shop, Co-Op, barber, ahhh the good old days 😊
The Ukrainian church was something else on the inside.
Thanks for sharing, I appreciate you letting us know some history.
Great stuff Chris. Please keep em coming.....
Thank you!
