We bought our EV6 car back in February right as they were available after the super bowl. We made our first 2k round trip from Charleston, SC to Wisconsin. We did not had any issues. We charged it at 80% every time we charged it, so we don't damaged the battery cells. It gave us around 250 miles, we had to stop about every two and half to three hours to charge. Wasn't too bad. Right now at home, we get 377 miles on a fully charge, we have the level two home charger. As of now we are happy with our EV6 car, like the girl said we get asked at the stop lights questions about the car, not to mention the heads turning back to glance at it in the freeway. A nice car all around.

Why, the on/off button is useless. I had a Kia EV before. It was a great car but the on/off was a major annoyance especially since it makes shrill beeps when you don't have the right sequencing to turn it off.
Because you don’t need a power button. I own a Tesla and would much rather have climate control buttons that are physical. I love being able to turn the car on by just getting in and out. Climate buttons are used constantly during a trip as opposed to a power button that is only used for two seconds to get in and out
@@christianseiler1250 I wouldn't be annoyed if my car didn't have a power button but I definitely like having it. For one thing, for something as inherently hazardous to operate as a vehicle, it's not a bad idea to have an extra, affirmatively required step to put it in its active state. For another thing, having the car's ability to power up depend on something like fob proximity introduces a real potential point of failure. Software systems that use NFC or BT aren't 100% reliable. Then again, I like having power buttons on things that arguably don't really need them. My laptop could just power up/down when I opened or closed the lid but I'm glad it has a power button. I spent $1000 in gas in march, so $250 a week. My first two weeks home charging was $64. Even fast charging every day was cheaper than gas about $17 for about 50 kWh. Great in the city driving, Chicago. Needed to reset how far in miles I was actually driving. With the Awd wind it’s like three cars in one. The 350kwh chargers are pretty cool when it’s wArm out, 20% in ten minutes.
Personally, if I buy one of these - it'll be black. Then it's easy to leave the roof (and any other parts I might want) black - and then wrap the main body in a unique contrasting color. Nice job here though, very tasteful and clean - with a similar end result.
The tasteful mods actually make it look much better than stock (which I'm not a huge fan of). Nice job! Only thing that bothers me slightly is the wheels sticking out even a little bit. Especially on an EV, that extra wind drag. Looks great though.
Yeah it wasn't ideal but I really like these wheels. So I dealt with it. But it's grown on me. I have not really seen any impact on range... but also my driving behaviors don't show my real impacts. I also just lowered the car a slight but the negative camber has made it look SLIGHTLY less poked.
Our Ev6 will arrive in 2 weeks . Funny knowing i will never be going to a gas station again. This will be my 5th kia but my first EV. All the video's iv´e seen makes me happy knowing i will enjoy the car as all ev6 owners. Nice talk
Its nice to know what i can expect when owning an ev. I dont have one. Its not available or affordable on my country yet. But its good to know when we eventually get there
I am an “older folk” at 64 and I have been able to do over the air software updates on my EV6, not sure the husband understands it all 😂、he has a hard time with technology so I hear you when you say the “older folks” might not be able to handle it. My answer for them.... just go to the dealership, they will do everything for you ❤
Wow. I hate the design of the EV6. Hated it even worse in person. But this changes things. Very sharp!!! I like the mods A LOT!!!! Small but makes a massive difference.
I bought an EV6 a couple weeks ago. My biggest complaint is that the doors don't auto-lock when I leave. I keep forgetting to lock the doors. Fortunately I can lock it from my phone, but I wish it locked itself.
Ummh changing 19" to 20" not a good idea. That 1" that sticks out the fender not very esthetic. Great job on that black mat roof wrap cause that must of been a pain in the a... to install. My Kia EV6 is black, but now i'm going to get the roof wrapped in mat black ! Thanks great idea.
It's too bad we didn't get to see the interior of this particular trim of EV6 - as it's not the top end one. The only one I ever see online is the GT-Line suede. Which is nice (except for all the abstract lines on the dash and other areas), but how about the alternatives?
I did an update on my channel where I showed things on the inside. Esp comparisons to the gt line.. which i the agree not a lot of people cover. I actually like some items more in the wind than the gt line. Check it out on my channel. It's a video called 60ndays with the ev6 or so.
Another great video Surround camera view in Kia EV6 GT Line, I have found this unreliable when judging the distance of my vehicle from say a parking line in FRONT of me. The surround camera view suggests I am on the line in front of me when you are in fact 30-40cm away from the line. What has been your experience?
I’ve found one issue with the lack of a on/off button. Often times i’ll have passengers in the car and I’d need to step out to grab something or go into the store and then there was no way to keep the climate control on so they just have to roll down the windows and stay there and hope it’s not too hot or cold out there.
Camp mode or dog mode. you can even do it from the app now. I always feel Ive gone back in time when I get into a car that requires it to be turned on and that in an EV or Gas. I love just getting in and going.
In my Model 3, I just put climate either on Dog or Keep. I can also modify it with my app if I’m away from the car (though the controls are pretty direct). I my wife’s ID.4, I simply ask her to leave the key fob with me in the car. I have t tried pushing the On button, and am not sure what would happen once she and the fob were some distance away. I assume the vehicle shuts down all operations.
I have an order in for a Mach-E, but while I've been waiting, I've nearly pulled the trigger on an EV-6 GT-Line a couple times. Like the styling and options better than the Ionic 5. I finally have a build date for the Mach-E, so I think I'll hold out, but I can't blame you for loving that EV-6 ... it seems like a great car! I told my wife my payment wouldn't go higher going from the 2019 Subaru Forester to the Mach-E ... didn't tell her that was on lease pricing. 🙊 By the way, I have a standard ICE Forester and it shuts off at stoplights, too. It's not just a hybrid thing.
Thank you for this video. I see it's been a year since this video. I wonder if they could update their experience? My question is - did Kia improve their over the air updates to make it more clear? And if you can't charge it at home, can you search for a charging station via car's software or not? I'd like to get a GT but I rent an apartment, therefore I can only charge at public stations.
After test driving the EV 6 and seeing the price I couldn't bring myself to pay luxury car prices for a Kia. Ended up buying the Polestar 2 for less and got 2 years of free charging. Want a car for closer to $26K the new Chevy Bolt ⚡ is the way to go.
One mod that I'm surprised to not see done....but what I'm pretty sure I'll be doing. Ground effects lights. That GT ambient lighting that Kia has done looks pretty fucking sweet. And there's really lights coming down off the spoiler sides for some exterior ambient lighting? C'mon, they're begging for some color changing ground effects to be put on this baby. I'm thinking AWD GT in blue and mostly blue it out...throw in some purple, or maybe it's a wild red night on the town. But now I'm thinking I may steal your blacked out top wrap.
Thanks for the video. The practical nature of it is much appreciated. Also, if someone could point me to the name/brand of those splash guards that would be great!
So, Kia didn’t have an auto park system where if you forget to shift to P and open the door it automatically put in on P? That feels like a safety issue to me.
@@jimwilt4944 either way it wouldn't be as bug of an issue since evs don't inch forward like ice do, even tho there are manufacturers that make their cars imitate ice characteristics.

Good video with objective views on owning the EV6 and some modifications that have made it look very nice indeed. Saw a black EV6 a couple days ago in person and it's bigger than you think. The range answer (due to the mods) was a good point, but i do wonder why as Kasey said they are people who run their gas tanks to fumes but then charge their EV6 at 60% ? :) Will be adding Emad's channel to my subscribed list and will be interested to hear more later in the year with follow up questions about their thoughts and what updates if any have been made by Kia.
This may sound dumb, but we are very random with our trips and drives. So we decided that having at least 50% charge all the the time would be beneficial in case we last min decide to drive across town and back or so.. that way if it's too low, we are not waiting for it to charge. That's a mentality difference compared to ICE cars which requires a 3 min trip to a gas station for full mileage range. Does thay make sense? Not sure I'm doing a good job of explaining it.
@@Emadifications Thanks for the reply - not at all dumb, in fact it does make sense. We are also like that - spur of the moment type trips across town could be 50 to 100 miles down here in south east TX. So having the car charged to some mid level helps and like you said in the video, it does help not to have to think about where to gas up if needed. Its a mind shift that i think we will get used to when we finally take the plunge ourselves.
Your is your max consumption at 80+ mph with hills and cross winds? The epa numbers aren’t great. My concern is that this is going to eat 60 kwh in 120 miles when doing high speed freeway.
It's on our radar as well, but I think we're discovering we don't need a 3 row suv. We considered the new Sorento cause it gas a 3rd row but is still a nicer size than a big suv.

I don't know if I'd count Tesla's software update system as a plus, it seems to have gone from "your car gets better over time" to just hoping the next update fixes the problems you're currently having without introducing new ones. 12.3.12 on my Model 3 is a bug-ridden mess.
That's one of the reason I decided against the Tesla, after eyeing the M3 for 2 years. I like my car to be predictable. No need for surprises, life is complicated enough. If the car gets too old, sell for a new one.
I took a brief test drive of an EV-6 back in March. Dealer added a $5K markup + $4K in mandatory and useless options (like etched glass). $9K extra turned me off and I ended up going with a BMW i4 eDrive 40 for $53K including the federal incentive. No markup, no gimmicks. Car will be delivered at the back end of this year as a 2023 model.

@@Emadifications yeah the wheels design is great.
that is the exact build I'm waiting... its such a nice looking car
absolutely stunning man 👌🏽🔥
Our Ev6 will arrive in 2 weeks . Funny knowing i will never be going to a gas station again. This will be my 5th kia but my first EV. All the video's iv´e seen makes me happy knowing i will enjoy the car as all ev6 owners. Nice talk
That is such a cool looking car. The blacked out thing really, really works
yeah i think next to the wheels, the blacked out roof is my favorite.
Great video! It’s always good to hear real world ownership of different EV’s.
Best interview ever. Thanks guys.
Must be nice to have a wife that is so trusting with your desired changes. Good video. Enjoyed the comments from the users.
She didn't used to be. I kinda just did it over and over and now she just.... let's me do it... ha ha
Thank you for this video!
Very informative! Kia should watch this!!
Really cool mods. I'm a big fan of my Ioniq 5 but wish there were folks that were doing more to it. That EV6 is very, very cool.
We saw one today finally in public. And I told my wife I'd love one to modify. Now thats on my brain....
Its nice to know what i can expect when owning an ev. I dont have one. Its not available or affordable on my country yet. But its good to know when we eventually get there
Great video like the wheels and side skirts. We don’t have a big car modifying culture in the UK. Be cool to get the bits over here.
Looks amazing! Congrats!
I am an “older folk” at 64 and I have been able to do over the air software updates on my EV6, not sure the husband understands it all 😂、he has a hard time with technology so I hear you when you say the “older folks” might not be able to handle it. My answer for them.... just go to the dealership, they will do everything for you ❤
Great insight from both of them. I feel the same way about my EV6!
Yeah there is a module to add this now. It is aftermarket
I personally love this slight poke. At least on this car
It was an interesting conversation, thank you for sharing! 🔌⚡🚘
I wish the beautiful IONIQ 5 had the EV6's range! And battery preconditioning....
I wish the beautiful Ioniq 5 would have Beautiful interior to match it's exterior. :(
I hate having to go to a gas station. Ppl that bring that up as an excuse are either constant road trippers or ignoring daily charging a home.
Another great video
Surround camera view in Kia EV6 GT Line,
I have found this unreliable when judging the distance of my vehicle from say a parking line in FRONT of me.
By the way, I have a standard ICE Forester and it shuts off at stoplights, too. It's not just a hybrid thing.
the games you gotta play hahaha
Thank you for this video. I see it's been a year since this video. I wonder if they could update their experience? My question is - did Kia improve their over the air updates to make it more clear? And if you can't charge it at home, can you search for a charging station via car's software or not? I'd like to get a GT but I rent an apartment, therefore I can only charge at public stations.
Great Video! I Get always inspiration from your videos for my EV vehicles😎⭐️ #Top
Nicest looking EV6 I've seen.
Question guys? How much is the insurance for the EV6?
I start with mudguards?
After test driving the EV 6 and seeing the price I couldn't bring myself to pay luxury car prices for a Kia. Ended up buying the Polestar 2 for less and got 2 years of free charging. Want a car for closer to $26K the new Chevy Bolt ⚡ is the way to go.
I couldn't get past the look of the polestar. Some angles are so nice and some hurt. Great car though.
Polestar 2 with dual motor, similar to EV6 Wind dual motor, is 52000 versus EV6 Wind which is 53k
Hey do it! Ground effect lights aren't for me but can be nice on some cars... usually if they're heavily modded.
Thanks for the video. The practical nature of it is much appreciated. Also, if someone could point me to the name/brand of those splash guards that would be great!
I have a video on my channel about modifying my ev6. I put the link innthe description.
ruclips.net/video/YTzygFOD-vI/видео.html
So, Kia didn’t have an auto park system where if you forget to shift to P and open the door it automatically put in on P?
That feels like a safety issue to me.
If I turn my EV6 off, it automatically goes into park.
@@jimwilt4944 I think in the video they are talking about when you forget to turn off and try to leave.
@@satekalay Ah - I haven’t tried that yet (nor do I want to).
@@jimwilt4944 either way it wouldn't be as bug of an issue since evs don't inch forward like ice do, even tho there are manufacturers that make their cars imitate ice characteristics.
Nice modifications, I really envy that you do not have to have the front license plate - this makes the car always look much better - as the designers wanted to!
We actually do need them here... but... I haven't put it on yet.
I have a blue gt line rwd and I’ve designed some eq settings you can put into power amp eq. If you would like to learn more I’ll link you to the ev6 forum where I posted it.
Let me know what you use for your eq. I find myself changing it a lot due to different genres.

I love my Model 3. If I was get an EV right now though...EV6 would be on the top of my list.
I love my Plaid, if I were to get another EV it would be a Plaid lol
@@jasondavis2945 I mean yeah....I love my Tesla and won't be switching but I'd at least be interested in looking at an EV6...I really want an S Long Range.
@@jasondavis2945 give me that additional $50k, and i would like a plaid as well haha
Just curious....why would you choose this car over a Tesla, being that you already have a Tesla...
@@Japplesnap I didn't say I would choose it over a Tesla. I just said it would be on the top of my list to look at. Given I haven't driven one and it's lacking in some KEY EV areas I'd likely still go with a Tesla but I'd be very interested to look at it though.
16 minutes in to the video, and still no comments on the Good, Bad, and Ugly. wth?
The mods look great!
i appreciate it. I have a few other things in the works.
Love the look of ev6 but it’s too small for our family. We decided to wait on EV9. I’m super excited!
It's on our radar as well, but I think we're discovering we don't need a 3 row suv. We considered the new Sorento cause it gas a 3rd row but is still a nicer size than a big suv.
The over sticker thing is crazy to me in europe. I just ordered one, configured online, and I get nearly 12 000 euros off of the kia online configurator MSRP.
I think your mods look great.
Thank you!
With the ID4 I can drive from kingsville, Texas to Ft. Worth, Texas; I stop 4 times.
Best thing about this car is that NOFX sticker 🤘🏼
hahhaa! appreciate it. I'm a big fan.
which power amp app did you download??
Beautiful car.
I like this but I also really really really like the lightning, curious about the aptera .
You can also set the auto hold, so it doesn't move even if not in P.
Great visual upgrades. If those wheels are Vossen, I the same wheels! Love the design.
They are avid.1 sl02. Thanks! Not vossens but I dig em.

@@edwardstreetdental4109 it's just called Poweramp equalizer on Android. Not sure if there's an iOS version

You forgot to mention Ioniq5 in the earlier comparison. Any reason why you prefer ev6 vs i5?
for me (the owner of this car), it was all about availability, price and interior. I like the I5 look exterior, but interior i liked the EV6. Also, the EV6 was a bit sportier handling wise.
My bmw i3 has a start button, but it automatically shut off when you get out of the car.
Ummm not sure about this trim level but that piece that was below the taillights that he blacked out.....is where the rear turn signals are....one of those silver pieces that lights up amber when signaling....
not on the US version.....
US cars actually just blink the brake light.
yeah what they all said below. The US version is just trim, sadly :(
Would love to yall implement chapters!
I don't know if I'd count Tesla's software update system as a plus, it seems to have gone from "your car gets better over time" to just hoping the next update fixes the problems you're currently having without introducing new ones. 12.3.12 on my Model 3 is a bug-ridden mess.
This makes me feel better ha ha
That's one of the reason I decided against the Tesla, after eyeing the M3 for 2 years. I like my car to be predictable. No need for surprises, life is complicated enough. If the car gets too old, sell for a new one.
J- man, we're in Australia. There'll be no ownerahip experiences of the EV6 being posted from down here!
Eventually... right? Like in 2 years ?
@@Emadifications yeah, we did get about 300 hundred for Australia but that is it for a couple of years now.
Is the roof wrap gloss black or matte? Thanks.
I did gloss.
@@Emadifications thanks! Looks 🔥🔥
@@kevinc6763 thanks! I wanted the roof to shine and reflect like the rest of the car.
Car will be delivered at the back end of this year as a 2023 model.
yeah dealers are killing this car purchase for many buyers. very frustrating.
But i4 looks terrible. Especially on that ugly grill..
@@bhbae1 That 's a matter of opinion. I saw the overall car in the flesh, so to speak, and it looks good.
@@marvinisrael1671 yes it is an opinion. But if that opinion came from many others, that is more than an opinion. See this review: ruclips.net/video/PZ5TUAKeH30/видео.html
If you still believe it is good, then your taste is rather very unique.
@@bhbae1 When BMW came out with the M Coupe in 1998 people made fun of it, calling it a "clown shoe" and saying how ugly it was. I recently sold a 2000 M Coupe which in recent years has suddenly become a highly desirable collector's car. Strangers would come up to me in supermarket parking lots to admire it. So maybe I do have unique tastes in cars. I would not buy a car that I thought was ugly. I know that the consensus is that the grill on the i4 is ugly. And the consensus on the M Coupe was that it was ugly. Go to Bring A Trailer and see what those "ugly" cars are selling for.
Damn thats a good looking EV
Still no rear wiper option?
Ha the car just came out... but yeah no option.
What's the stock wheel offset? +50mm? Weird without different length axles up front that cause heavy torque steer.
Yeah it is about +53-+56 depending on the wheels. So i basically put a 20mm spacer on by installing these, but also went an inch wider.
Did the 20 inch tire mod alter your range? (This old lady wants to know) 😂
It did not. Not anything that I noticed at least.
Hogback challenge? Could be interesting to see how the new generation from Hyundai/Kia performs
Where did you get it at sticker. I can’t find it at sticker
which sticker are you referring to? i can link it.
oh you mean MSRP sticker. haha, i hunted and hunted and got it very early at launch before dealers were really screwing things up
I disagree with a button in the car, I remember driving my friend’s Prius to the store and my friend scolding me for leaving the car running because I didn’t push the button to turn it off when we went into the store. I was so use to my tesla just getting out of the car and walking away. An One-off button is stupid. Especially if you get out and the car keeps rolling, out of park. What if someone happened to be in front of the car, it wouldn’t be a laughing matter.
EV6 is now selling 14k below MSRP
Why doesnt the front tint match the rear tints?!?!
Ha I forgot I did get ceramic tinted. I went the darkest legal limit in my state.
@@Emadifications Dont be a wussy, just get them to match. Do the cops pull ppl over just for tints in your area??
@@ctk4949 yup. They do. And I also don't notice or care much to change it at this point.

too funny that i had a sorento PHEV for about 4 months and dumped it for the EV6 in GT line trim, in Snow White Pearl. dealer had it in for a day, i lucked into it as i was in the dealership for a tire out of balance issue on the sorento PHEV. i paid $1000 over MSRP and was ok with that, as they gave me MSRP for the sorento PHEV (which i paid for it) and i got the 6K plus tax credit. it's bone stock save the ceramic paint coating and gonna keep it that way. love the car. also have a GT mach E, and as a daily driver i like the suspension tuning in the EV6 better. wife is driving the mach E. i certainly love the fast charging curve on the EV6 better than the mach E.
interesting about the Mach E GT suspension. What do you like about the Ev6 Suspension more? I would expect vice versa.
