Nice video. I just try to keep in my mind that the recover stroke is 1/2 of a figure 8.
Hi Pascal, this video is an eye opener for me , until now I have been trying to push through my knees, your explanation was very clean and made me realize the mistake.....Big thumps up for the video...Request to you ... looking for ward to see a tutorial from you on how to do sprints...this would be very much helpful....thanks in advance
very happy to hear this^^ ...that's one of the goal of my video...help other skater is always a pleasure

Pascal! Thank you! Really improved my technique thanks to these videos..... the only problem now is that I think I am addicted and NEED to invest in actual speed skates!
ahah good news then...what skate do you have at the moment?
pascal briand the main skate I use now are Rollerblade fusion boots with a K2 R100 frame (4*100mm) so I can get some speed/edging for my daily commute but I want to glide past the cyclists (at least the casual ones) and give them even more hell!
its good skate too.... 125mm is crazy good and roll nicely behind bike^^ ...
Thanks for these one, very good tips
thanks Emi...where are you from ? on the picture you look like Derek Downing^^
pascal briand haha I'm from Argentina, next month I'll travel to Europe to race in Pamplona and Berlín, maybe we meet there
yes we will meet there then....check my Facebook , there is 2 inscription for Pamplona to win by sharing a link^^
Hi Pascal,
Please clarify, After end of the push the feet point (toe) should be parellal to the ground. Is it the effective push? Is it proves that you are pushing back of the heel?
Thanks for this! One additional question related to ankle relaxation. Can you provide a rough estimate of ankle angle as a function of time for a full push-recover cycle? Do you ever rotate the ankle not in line with the knee? I'm particularly interested in the the recovery phase. Thanks!
Scott Strachan yes i mainly try to rotate a bit the ankle to the inside during recovery moment to prepare the landing
Dear Pascal ; Can you make a video for sprint like 100m or 200m
Excellent pascal, front side and upper views . Faut que tu ameliores ta technique quand meme, ton pied droit remonte plus haut que le gauche dans le retour du patin hahaha
ahhaah ok merci Thierry , je vais essayer d'être plus symetrique...je sais que ca te tiens a coeur^^
How do you change the ankle dorsiflexion on the recovery leg during the recovery movement? Do you keep it same, increase (move toe closer to shin), or decrease (move toe away from shin)?
I try to bring toe closer to shin to lock ankle in landing position
Hi pascal. Nice video! It really helps learning how to skate well. Im watching all videos you upload ^^ one thing i am wondering is that u work out at gym for your skating? Even after you retired from salomon world team?? Or just enough to skate more..
Hi il hwi Jo , i still do a little bit at gym...but mainly to get better in ROller derby and support the impact... i should do more but i get less motivated^^ ... now it s coming back so i try to do more...i want to get more power back in my legs ...so , i just need to create time out of work to do more^^
Thx for the reply and sharing us very good tips of skating ^^ always enjoying ur videos
my pleasure to do video for everybody... i can see Korean skater follow more and more my channel...anyway if you can help me to promote my channel on South Korea and help me to get more subscriber it would be cool^^
Hi Pascal, so it's a combination of using the hip, knee, and ankle? 2:19
a lot of hip...little knee ...and ankle to validate the precision of the landing. For me it's a lot in the hip
Pose good! This is single push?
Jon Goh Yun yes it’s mainly single push technique
If you're skating in a pace-line, do you still want to do the circular motion behind you? It seems like you would cause some trouble for the people skating behind you.
great question.....yes you would still do it...it's no problem if skater behind you have good technici also. Sometimes we use this to force the skater behind to go more far and loose some draft^^
Thanks for the response! I'm doing my first race in October (Athens 2 Atlanta), and will probably start doing pace-line training sessions soon with my skate club :) Your videos have been very helpful!
Zefiris yep for sub à long race it s also good to be able to use lot of draft :-) a lot
do you have a video about the technique for skating uphill? I'm losing alot of ground in uphills

@@ThePascalbriand thanks, ill have a look 👍
btw the fact that you actually answer your comments section has really been helpful. not everyone does that, so thanks!
ok muchas gracias, lo espero ansioso entonces,/Ok thank you so much, I'm looking forward to it, My question is whether on landing under the shoulder or pushing it up
yes i will have a video about position coming soon... then even later i willdo one about shoulder mouvement^^
whats the name of the song?
Cant remember
c'est où cette piste ? Font Romeu ?
