Nah. The sages attack Ganondorf clones.
@@lexsims2516 Yes but no. First the sages help and attack the clones, but then Ganondorf gathers his clones after a while and pushes all Sages away at once. Nontheless, the Sages defeating all the bosses before that on ther own was incredible!

His health bar going past the limit was one of the coolest moments in any Zelda game ever
When I saw it, I was like "NO STOP. IT'S GONNA GO OFF THE SCREEN."
It just reminded me of that AVGN episode in Star Wars when he's talking about how long the healthbars are. That is an accurate representation of how I felt seeing Demon King Ganon's bar fill up.
I audibly was like o fuck!
@SmurfkillerSquee lmao yes! I said, the same thing 😂
I was like ok, phase 2 let’s go, cmon health bar go back to full, then I see it go even further, I’m like what the fuck, please stop getting bigger
The pure PANIC watching his health bar KEEP FRICKEN GROWING STRAIGHT OFF THE SCREEN.
Then you’re like nah that’s purely cinematic, I’m sure somethings gonna happen that brings it back.
Nothing happens. Just you fighting a dude with alot of health.
In Botw: You Can flurry rush the boss
In ToTk: The boss can Flurry rush you
That has to be the most brilliant addition. At first I was shocked, then I was like hell yeah! Ganondorf has the effing Triforce of Power; why wouldn't he have some of the same powers as Link?
@@nahor88fun fact! In totk he actually doesn’t have the triforce of power and it was all sheer strength and skill he used
Plus some secret stone thingies
@@Silvergrove41 That will really annoy me until Nintendo gives an official update on the Zelda timeline. The initial theory was that BOTW takes place hundreds of years after the prior Zelda games, but after this game it seems like they're on a completely new branch of the timeline, MAYBE directly after Skyward Sword, but hundreds of years later.
Also, you can flurry rush the boss's flurry rush (which he uses as a counter to your initial attempted flurry rush)
@@nahor88 i'd like to say that even skyward sword is not in this timeline
How come nobody is talking about how terrifying it was to see your hearts literally disappear

Flurry rush-ception
The return of Calamity Ganon's theme was just perfect. They held back for the best moment to bring it in fully
It seems like the theme of the blights and calamity ganon is to remind us how terrified we were and how angered we were trying to beat them and reminding us this is how they all formed
And nothing about the Ocarina of Time remix in the very beginning setting the tone of epicness? Come on man. That added to the perfection of this theme.
@SmurfkillerSquee sorry, I don't have as much nostalgia for that theme, lol. Botw was my first Zelda game (I'm 21, just didn't check out the franchise for a long time)
It's always nice to hear, but I honestly thought the BOTW theme was going to stay in that game, where the OOT theme has come back multiple times, I believe
@@Insert.Oregano Actually, I think, before this, that the only time the OOC ganon battle was brought back was in the OOC remakes. They've always done a good job giving Ganon a different theme every game (except how his theme in Four Swords Adventures is a remix of the Ganon theme in Link to the past).
@@Hei_DarkfireDude I played Ocarina of Time 2 months before this game and never noticed.
Ganondorf being able to perfect dodge your attacks is a great way of showing that he was just as good as fighter as Link. In addition he uses a Sword, Lance, Club and Bow. A 1v1 fight between two skilled fighters.
Thats exactly what i missed in botw. A fight at eye level. This was awesome
its the feeling of flurry rushing his flurry rush...
Ganondorf's fight in TotK is basically a mirror fight of yourself:
He wields a Demon Bow
He can use parry on your arrows
He uses a one handed weapon (Gloom Sword)
He uses a long range two handed weapon (Gloom Spear)
He uses a heavy two handed weapon (Gloom Club)
He can Flurry Rush your attacks
He summons 5 Phantom Ganons as his own dark versions of the Sage's Vows
When he activates his secret stone to transform into the Demon King, it's the equivalent of eating a hearty food to regain his back to full and the temporary health is the part that extends all the way to the corner of the screen
I like how it’s like the blights, which has weapons and skills that are targeting the champions they’re targeting.
Ganondorf is exactly that, but his target is Link.
@@Nyxael5845all that's missing was a shield then the true one on one fight
The part when Ganondorf pushes all the sages away so it’s just a 1v1 with Link. So badass
And think references battle between Ganondorf and link in the GameCube demo
HEADS UP: You can reflect his projectiles in the final 1v1 phase with the Master Sword. The classic technique is alive and well in this game!
NO WAY.
It isn't a Zelda game starring Ganondorf without a ping-pong match on the last boss fight after all
At last! Someone else who realised this
Only with the Master Sword. Using any other weapon to try and parry his projectiles will instantly shatter the weapon!

The health bar going across
I legitimately laughed when I saw they expended the helath bar instead of putting a bigger one at the middle.
@@RemiRionnetsame, i had to pause to calm down
I love the way he beckons link forward with his finger. He must've been exhilarated to find someone of equal power to fight him. A true epic final battle with the famed swordsman of the future.

Ganondorf: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our battle will be legendary!!
Link, wearing Cece's hat plus the Frostbite shirt and pants: ✨✨👄✨✨
I'm sorry Zelda, but I need to SLAY
I fought and completed the game with Yiga armor, cause I thought it was funny and ironic that a random Yiga footsoldier had enough of Ganon and just took the matter into their own hands, not caring about Zelda.

@@emilalfaro2800fr tho, they never even get to meet the guy. He'd probably kill Kohga tho, and we can't have that! He's too precious!
I fought with the fierce deity outfit as that’s more fitting and effective
To put in perspective how powerful this version of Demon King Ganondorf is, during the final phase of his boss fight, he can easily break most of your shields in only 3-4 hits. Even a *brand new Hylian Shield* won't last much longer than a dozen hits! When you consider all of the other incarnations of the Demon King throughout the series, and none of the others can even *scratch it*, it's no wonder Rauru had no choice but to try and seal him away.
I had a durability up+ Hylian Shield, and it only took around 12 hits before it got shattered. That made me properly afraid of this absolute menace
@@snekladyrobin I had a guard up Hylian Shield, and it tanked everything for me. Projectiles, the stupid delay on sword attacks, even the floor smash. It never broke
He obliterated my Hylian shield + Wind Waker shield... However, my Queen Gibdo + Savage Lynel shield held up very, very well.
@@Rage983all shields are vulnerable to gloom attacks. In my case, while the hylian shield blocked normal attacks, 2 gloom attacks were enough to break it

fought him wiht the goofy ass flight suit and it showed up in the final cutscene fr wanted to kms
I didn't fight clammy gan with the champions tunic in botw. I made sure to upgrade my champions tunic fully in totk to make it the ultimate rematch 17 years in the making

I fought him as ocarina link. Made the fight even more badass!!
My reaction to this song was:
0:00 IS THE OCARINA OF TIME SONG WHEN YOU'RE FIGHTING GANONDORF HOLY SHIT
0:57 WAIT THIS IS THE BREATH OF THE WILD MAIN THEME WTF
1:31 THE MUSIC THAT THEY USED FOR THE TRAILER OF THE DIRECT FEBRUARY 2023 WAS THE FINAL BOSS SONG WTF
1:36 This just became my favorite part, is just soooo epic
2:39 THIS IS THE FINAL BATTLE BOSS THEME FROM BOTW REIMAGINATED FOR TEARS OF THE KINGDOM WHAAAAAAAAAAAAT THIS SO SICK (really, this song combined with Link and Ganondorf flury rushering each other is the best thing that i experienced in the franchise)
Oh yeah 1:36 was EASILY my favorite part! That bad ass music plus a raw 1v1 with these two beast just flurry rushing each other is pure GOLDEEN also nice nayuta pfp!
Realizing that the song they used in the trailer was the final boss theme blew me away. They really knew just how awesome this fight is
“Damn he’s taking a lot of hearts! Let me just break out a hearty mushroom pie and I’ll- where are my hearts”
When the Calamity Ganon theme dropped, that hit me.
IKR, I’m so glad Nintendo incorporated that into this theme - felt somewhat nostalgic lol
How much Gloom damage did it do?
“Oh man he’s hurting me a lot, I’ll just use food to-“
“Wait, he can BREAK MY HEART CONTAINERS? I can’t heal hearts if they DONT EXIST!”
Pure panic for the rest of the fight.
From the comments I'm reading in this section, it sounds like a lot of you just rushed to face him instead of doing the PROPER thing by visiting shrines and building up your stamina and max hearts. Not to mention leveling up your clothing to the point his standard attacks do very little damage.
Otherwise he's basically like most other melee-weapon wielding enemies in that you can just flurry rush his attacks. Even when he flurry rushes you back, flurry rush him right back.
The health bar was definitely a "whoa" moment, but otherwise this was one of the easier Zelda final boss fights.

This is just not your average gloom, this is...
*ADVANCED GLOOM*
The fact that he can not only dodge your attacks but your FLURRY RUSHES as well?
Shook me to my core
Hearing the blight theme come back only at the very end was so fantastic. They knew exactly how powerful that theme was and they made you think it wasn't going to return just so they could make it more impactful here
If Ganondorf gets to jump out of my flurry rushes then I might as well spam x3 bomb arrows at him across the arena
Everybody gangsta till ganon pulls out the Savage Lynel Bow
You could do that, orrrrrrr, you could send his projectiles back at him with the Master Sword. Nothing cooler than when that circle of gloom closes in on you, and you spin attack all of it right back at him.

@@blazemenace1208 I went in with it!
the influence from Princess Mononoke (ghibli in general) in this game design is so cool to me
like in the instant ganon used his magic for the first time in the prologue i was like "holy shit its like the demon god in mononoke" even this music here sounds very inspired by that scene with the drums in the bg and it slaps
Botw was also heavily inspired by Ghibli, especially the art style.
dont forget about the big anime tears from that one spoiler character

One of the best quotes ever before he transforms into a dragon.
Ocarina of Time’s 23/16 time signature strikes again!
If you ask me it's probably 23/8 given the tempo
The motif that plays when the sages arrive at 0:36 gets me every time. The build up and spectacle of this boss fight keeps me coming back to challenge Ganondorf over and over
The music that was in the second trailer that plays at 1:28 and onward is so good and no one talks about it
I do all the time. This is the best part of the demon king fight for me
yo i heard this play in the game and popped off because i thought the second trailer music was really good and thought it wasnt gonna be in the game after i had already played so much
Hearing Calamity Ganon theme here is such as "Now you've discovered the real source of the main enemy from the last game"
the reason calamity ganon existed was because it was ganondorfs malice and rage leaking out, ganons purpose was to destroy and weaken hyrule and then free ganondorf, its why calamity ganon appeared at the castle, were it not for zelda keeping calamity ganon in check for a hundred years, ganondorf would of been freed and unleashed upon a broken fractured world that would have no chance against him
Y'know
There's one way they could've really improved this fight
*Make him totally immune to arrows*

He can kinda swat them away
@@thijsvos1852 I followed Thanos' advice and went for his head multiple times

In case there was ANY doubt, the fact that the blight ganons and calamity Ganon all share the same theme as link going 1 on 1 with Ganondorf in hid powered up state confirms the calamity was a puppet by Ganondorf
I think the calamity was the expression of his power and the absence of him
Behind able to properly reincarnate due to Rauru
My interpretation was that calamity was a concentration of gloom made with the intent of freeing Ganondorf, but for that it neede a body which is the purpose of the cocoon in hyrule castle on BotW
@@degg7129 In a way it did accomplish it though. Ganondorf's character profile says he was able to break free because the Calamity weakened Rauru's seal.

In the best possible way, this fight reminded me of the Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls 3. Weapon swapping, using the player's special skills against them, bringing back old musical motifs from previous games, having a fiery second phase... I'll bet there was some inspiration drawn from DS3!
i was feeling so much the souls inspriation in this fight man. amazing
[Potential Spoilers]
Y’know when I first saw Ganondorf transform into the Demon King, I thought back to a review of Skyward Sword and Demise. This Ganondorf is one of the most powerful incarnations of the Gerudo King in the Zelda series, as well as the closest to being like Demise, all without the Triforce of Power, and that’s a frightening thing to think about.
That bastard with the triforce of power will be trully a nigmatmare.
I didn’t even think about the fact that he didn’t have the triforce of power, could you imagine if he did? The man would level hyrule with a single blink, holy shit
He had the Secret stone, so that's basically this games version of the Triforce piece.
Its cool how link has a whole ass team to fight Ganondorf. also, theme turning into Calamity Ganon's theme is perfect since they're literally the same dude.
Ganondorf gave me quite a fight to be sure. I never would've expected him to be able to pull off flurry rushes of his own. He even ended up shattering my Hylian Shield.
A medley of Ganondorf OOT, Phantom Ganon TWW, and Calamity Ganon BOTW. Nice.

Ganondorf's health bar goes to end of the screen
Snatches it and uses it as a weapon
Not an obscenely hard final boss, but definitely the hardest boss to be in a zelda game and the best execution of a ganondorf duel. It really felt like this was the first enemy to be this Link’s true match. Wouldn’t be surprised if nintendo did some research on Fromsoftware boss designs for this, he sort of feels like Old King Allant. It was really sick how you both had to basically trade flurry rushes to see whose got the quickest draw
Alternatively you could parry his flurry rush which to me felt a lot cooler
Nintendo: Would you like to fight Calamity Ganon with Max HP or take half, double it, and give it to the next Ganon?
Link: Double it.

The first part of this song was very reminiscent of "Ocarina of Time..." I like it...
I love how the game expects you to think you can flurry rush through the whole fight when you really have to do the opposite. That was a cool gameplay twist that I really had to think about!!
I honestly love that he does that, because it's Ganondorf recognizing Link's attack pattern and countering it, which is what the player always does.
the drums remind me so much of wind waker ganondof for some reason
I think Nintendo listened to us and saw that Calamity Ganon wasn’t that hard, as well as his dark beast form in BOTW, because in that, I only needed one try to kill all his forms, but here, it took me around 7. I thought this was his final form since I always just kept dying when it was 1v1 with him and Link (this phase), and so I had the biggest “Ah, great!” moment when he turned into the Demon Dragon, which luckily I defeated first try.
Yep, we get a good warmup fight for the first phase, a nice step up in difficulty for the second phase, and the demon dragon is the easiest as basically the cinematic climax that would probably be ruined if you died. Overall I think they really nailed this boss battle. I every time I come back to ToTK I always have to refight him at least once.
"I will be taking far more than your arm this time"
Never in my life did a fight between the Twink and Shrek feel this intense
i nearly died in this phase cuz as soon as he did the “come and get it” gesture at the beginning i couldn’t focus 😳😏😏
When Ganondorf just blasted the sages away in one hit, I knew things were about to get REALLY crazy. It almost seems like that last phase is the great equalizer, where it doesn't matter how much of the game you did, you now HAVE to play well in order to beat him ON YOUR OWN
Dang the composer was cooking up a feast in the recording room
Honestly hearing Ganondorf's boss theme from OoT in this track made me smile so much.
The previous track already was a callback to Ganondorf's main theme, but hearing this chaotic mess again only remade brought me back to when I played OoT for the first time.
I legit got angry when I saw one of the heart containers actually disappear instead of getting corrupted. All the time I spent getting all the shrines just for him to take them. For me that just made the battle way better
1:14-1:36 This part gives me Studio Ghibli vibes.
Love that this is a remix to Ganondorfs fight in ocarina of time.
The flurry rush trade was the coldest thing I’ve done all week and I wanna do it again
i think the entirety of these two games was building up to the moment the Calamity Ganon motif played in this fight
