He was a gentleman to pick her up from the airport, then got sloppy drunk and didnt think it was a problem to leave her in an unknown city alone in a high crime, party area, then wakes up in the morning and is soooo concerned to call police and knew something was immediately wrong but also doesn't remember any specific details, like where they ate or what he did after she stopped answering the phone😟 hes kinda a douche bag. The defense attorney needs to stop yelling and just tell her story calmly, if I was on the jury his theatrics would immediately put me off and the fact he didn’t address why his client was in the run 🤷🏻♀️

After hearing the opening statement, I was not expecting this type of behavior from Raul. I couldn’t imagine a “friend” traveling miles to visit ME, staying at my place, being the last to see them alive, find out she’s been killed (WHILE VISITING ME), and then testifying so nonchalantly while simultaneously not “remembering” anything of importance. That’s bizarre. He couldn’t even remember the AIRLINE he picked her up from?!
None of this makes sense tbh. There’s a huge gap between Marisela leaving Raul’s place when he was so drunk, to her sitting outside/meeting Charles, to ending up in Charles’s bed. Like, I can’t imagine a young girl (alone) voluntarily leaving with a stranger. And they can’t use the fact that she was drinking because clearly she was still coherent enough to get an Uber.

They mispronounce the victim’s name, couldn’t detail in the opening statement how Maricela ended up in the man’s bed nor why the women would kyll her…it makes no sense and it also hints at racism. No one took her disappearance seriously. It’s horrible

The opening statement left big gaps: marisela was sitting outside and then ended up sleep in the man’s bed? Then they just started stabbing her? She needs to better explain that.
She hooked up with him. Whether you judge her doesn’t matter. She was in bed with the e guy when this woman, who seems to be his sugar momma, saw them and started stabbing Marisela The guy a jerk as he just left. Many of the witnesses not great people but this trial about who stabbed her
That Raul’s testimony is so jarring he is acting like the perpetrator…sweaty palms, fidgeting, not answering clearly, being vague, extremely uncomfortable. When the DA pulled out her handbag he could not even look at it. They may well be charging the wrong person in this, although state evidence will unfold. But in the face of it this man shows no emotion whatsoever and his story is very circumspect.

Being a jerk and bad friend, being nervous on the stand doesn’t mean he had anything to do with her murder. The evidence shows she left his place and was elsewhere, without him, when murder took place. May be nervous because he looks like (well is) a jerk and/or has done other criminal behavior.

I’ve gotten through 5 days of this trial and actually, yeah, I think Raul killed her. She left Chuck’s, went back to waste case host friend Raul’s house and he, wound up from drunk bender weekend plus cocktail of pills and blow retaliates against her for leaving and going out (maybe she tells him she slept w some dude maybe not). Then Raul dumps her on the road, he lives in TX and prob knows a well trodden road from a desolate one by then, and calls emergency services right away to report missing person. Raul got how many other assault charges against him? He’s a violent dude and there’s court documents to prove it. He can’t even look @ her bag because HE DID IT. Classic overwhelming shame response. The rest of this trial is just Chuck trying to clear his name for being a 60 yr old white woman’s sugar bb, and that defendant having no choice but be framed and sent to prison because her team is so inconceivably incompetent.
The friend she came to visit seemed like an a$$ on the stand! It didn’t seem like he was really concerned about his friend that night, granted I understand that he was intoxicated, but still!! 🙄 Even years later, you would think he would feel some sort of guilt about what happened, but it just seems like he doesn’t seem to think he could have, or should have done anything different!
I’m not here to victim blame, but I also feel like she had some responsibility in this situation as well. She comes to a new city and doesn’t know anyone except for the friend who she leaves past out on his balcony, to go back to several bars in a not so great part of town! She then meets someone who she doesn’t know and decides to go back to his residence with him AND she’s intoxicated! This is just a classic set of choices where you should know something bad is more than likely going to happen! Obviously, the perpetrator is at fault for his actions, but as a young woman you should know better than to put yourself in that type of situation and if you don’t, then you’re not mature enough to be going out, let alone traveling to a different city/state alone! 🤷🏽♀️

They really need better translators that can translate correctly to the jury especially when mom talks about how she felt losing hope her daughter was alive. As a bilingual person the missing words or incomplete sentences always irk me!
The judge is fluent in Spanish and actually questions, converses, and speaks with Latinos in Spanish. She has to have a translator because of the questionings by the defense’s attorneys. But, if the translator had missed or misinterpreted what the victims mother was saying… the judge absolutely would have noticed or heard and corrected it.. as she is fluent in Spanish

What I was referring to is that if anything was misinterpreted then yes- the judge would absolutely interrupt.. as the record must state and record both the misinterpretation and the correction. More than anything, the record must be clear and concise…
Yes, if the interpretation is not correct- I would hope they would get someone who can do it correctly- for the sake of the victim, the court system and the family
First I’ve heard of this trial, the ONLY thing I understand half way into day one here is,,,Marisela was a beautiful young woman with life plans, worked for her future education, that took a vacation from Seattle to Texas. Completely not sure what happened when she got there, how the hec she ended up in a strange man’s bed because she didn’t seem like the type to do that, whyyy would Lisa who didn’t know Marisela, would stab her when the guy brought home a bunch of women? Think Raul might be confused by defense a little and not sure if fed up with him, but gets sarcastic too! In openings, The prosecutor was kinda vague (15 min is shortest opening I’ve seen) & the defense, omgosh, what did he say? Did not understand anything except he says, he had no idea how Marisela died but it’s not his client & geesh why not go to Cambodia, Lisa & her wife needed down time!!😮.Him going, “OH OH yess i wanted to ask..” isn’t something I ever heard an atty do!! So sure hope this case gets a little more clarity or guess just skip to end & see who did what! Hope those co defendants trials aren’t as messed up! I’m so sorry for Marisela’s family, her Mom’s testimony was heart wrenching, think she was trying hard to be strong, wish them peace & love. 🙏❤️
I just heard of this case today and here’s what I’ve gotten so far. Marisela went to Tx to visit her “friend” Raul. Raul and Marisela went bar hopping and Marisela met Charles and went back home with him. Charles and Lisa were “hooking up”, so when she caught Marisela in Charles bed I guess she was pissed and stabbed her to death. Even tho she was married.
If Lisa did kill Marisela, something happened between them that made her very jealous, because she wasn’t before of his many hookups he brought home, maybe Nina hooking up with him or her face & thigh lift & recouping from that, her just feeling old & mad how much she has done for him, etc…🤔

Defense should just not ask questions
Just imagine if they never went to 7/11 no one would know what happened - so much reasonable doubt but Chuck was obviously with Marisela. They could have easily accused Raul if not for the 7/11 video and purchase.
The defense attorney sounds ridiculous. Hes literally grasping at straws and makes ZERO sense. And I wonder if he realizes his yelling/loud voice makes him sound even more ridiculous. He’s completely disrespectful to Marisela’s family. Talking about how she dresses and drugs she was doing. How the hell cares? She didn’t deserve to die and her family doesn’t deserve to hear his nonsense.
Comments are way too harsh on Raul. He made the mistake of getting blackout drunk and when he noticed his friend was gone, took action.

i thought he came across very arrogant, but regardless of opinions he stated the victim was his ‘best friend’ but can’t seem to remember any detail of what they did together, where they went or what she was wearing the very last day he ever saw his ‘best friend’ if he was so concerned you’d think that day would stick out in his mind and i’m not talking about when he got himself into such a state that he let her go out in a town she didn’t know. he doesn’t appear to want to testify at the trial of his ‘best friends’ murderer and seems to be very evasive.

A stabbing often leaves marks on the victim’s bones-no knife markings found on the victim-making Chuck’s story that Lisa leapt out in the middle of the night and stabbed the victim to death even more ridiculous. Why did the state believe Chuck’s ridiculous story?

It was based on the Detective’s investigative report!!!! The Investigator wrote it was a HOMICIDE! So if the forensic anthropologist and the medical examiner could NOT find stab wounds and trauma to the bones, how the heck did the investigative detective KNOW IT?!?

Something is so WRONG about this case! The two women are lesbians, they like girls so, they wouldn't be jealous of Marisela being with Charles, nor have any reason to kill her. I think, Charles brought her home, hoping they could all have a three-some party but, Marisela sail "no" and they forced her and then ended up killing her, when she was fighting them off. Charles was probably the first one to accept a Plea from the State, if he testified.

Charles had women over all the time and was in an open relationship with Lisa (who also happened to be married)... Why would Lisa randomly stab Marisela in her sleep? Makes no sense.
Fleeing to Cambodia is a bad look, for sure, but I don't think that proves murder. Lisa could've been covering for Charles (by disposing the body) and fled because disposing of a corpse is a crime. Lisa was used to helping Charles, and he was clearly quite adept at manipulating women.
Also, all things equal, who's more likely to murder a 23 year old woman - the young man who had just slept with her, or a middle aged woman who's married to another woman? My money is on the young man.
The defense should really just throw Charles under the bus imo. It's the best defense Lisa has.
