Hey Gary: One additional tip for your viewers if they're going to crop: Do your cropping first (so the auto-enhancing tailors itself to the cropped image, not the whole image).
Thank you for the kind sharing.... Especially the photoshop edit part. It does really helps me a lot when rushing for certain project but there is some error on the photo. Thanks and keep up the good sharing.
Thank you very much, when I get my new MacBooks from my daughter I really appreciate it but I was very afraid to get her disappointed because I know it’s a lot challenge for me to use it, when I find a lot of short and simple but very useful tutorials coming from you I feel like my skill in this new laptop have improved rapidly❤ you did very good job with your speaking skills and Mac knowledge 😊you made my english improved 😊
Excellent. I still have a few 1080 videos coming, but plans are to be 100% 1440 by the end of the year. That's the exact resolution of my screen recording anyway, so it makes sense it would look best.
An easy way to reset a slider is double-click on the vertical slider line. If the tool has multiple adjustments (e.g., Light has 7 sliders), the undo function will set everything back to default, which isn't want you want to do if you want to reset just one setting.
Hi Gary, when I open my photos library I do NOT get the "Crop, Fliter, or Adjust' options tabs at the top of the screen...Why is this? I'm running a 15" MacPro with 12.0.1 Monterey. Photos: Version 7.0 (411.0.120)
I've spent hours but can't fix this. When I have saved my pic to my Desktop and open it I have a top header that I can't remove or crop out. It says "Jpeg 1...How do I crop this out and just have a clean photo to save or send. Can't find this anywhere.....please help...
Question: in this program can I lighten just one area of the photo? I have a photo of a man and his black lab dog. Half of the face of the dog is in shadow. How can I lighten just the dog's face?
Not with Photos alone. But you can use the ability to edit in an an external editor from Photos and make the change in that external editor, saving it back to Photos. Preview will do it if you are patient in selecting the area, but an app like Pixelmator Pro or Photoshop can do this easily if you have the skills.
After editing my photo & cropping etc I save it to my desktop. The photo looks fine but when I send it via email, etc there is a header/top boarder that says JPEG #. I can't crop it out so every photo I send has this header. Can this be eliminated so all you see is the photo? Thanks
I don't know what you mean by that. I can't imagine what a border at the top of your photo would be doing like that. Are you sure it wasn't just the window you were using to view the photo that showed that?
When I want to use the pictures (raw files) I edited , I export the pictures but get the originals without the editing that I did. How do I export or save the edited pictures from Photos?
Hi Gary, is there a workaround to access images in photos. So, when I need to upload a photo to an app or document I have to shift the image from photo and into one of the finder folders. It is really cumbersome
Not sure what you mean. Can you describe what you are trying to DO? Just "upload a photo?" Use the media browser to access the images directly. Or, often drag-and-drop works.
@@eileencaddy.thefoundations9702 If you have the opportunity to select a file, you should be able to select media as well. See ruclips.net/video/QR3JjhVzr0I/видео.html, though it is an older video.

@@Annalorraine67 Photoshop is a huge powerful image editing app. Photos isn't like that. It is closer to Lightroom, not Photoshop. I have lots of videos on this channel on Mac Photos, and an intro course over at courses.macmost.com too.
How do you access photos that have been edited to export via something like Whatsapp? It seems now that images aren't stored as individual files the way they were in the past versions. Seems inconvenient to export every photo imported from an iPhone. What is the easiest way to manually copy images to an external drive for safe backup if you can't access individual files?
Photos has always stored images inside a library. I don't use WhatsApp on a Mac, but in most apps you can drag a file from Photos to the app, or in the app you can select their "choose a photo" function and then select Photos in the left sidebar. See ruclips.net/video/QR3JjhVzr0I/видео.html
@@macmost Very much appreciate the response. It IS a generic access question, and your video does the trick. Maybe I just can't locate the files. Back in the day, individual image files would be stored in folders labeled by date under "photos". The files don't seem to be individually stored in a tree structure anymore, so manual selection and drag-and-drop via Finder doesn't seem possible.
@@RedRocket415 The idea of a library is you access the photos inside the app. The "photos" are more than just the image file, but also data like editing info, tags, titles, etc. Thus a library rather than plain files.
@@macmost hi , it seems all i had to do was restart! oh my! i put them in folders on my desktop, its the business i am in. i edit then pop them onto the desktop and into a folder after i number them

I DO have a course for this: courses.macmost.com

Great job Gary, very informative. Just wandering if your photos are shot in RAW ? Thank you for your help.
Some. I switch back and forth depending on the situation.

Very useful. How do you adjust photo printing size? Making it an 8 x 10 or even up to A4?
Thank you!

This video should be "mandatory" for anyone starting out. The only other tool I use is perspective correction.
Video looking crisp @1440p Gary, much improved now RUclips is coming through my Apple TV 4K, both improvements make a world of difference from 1080p 👍

You can export as a jpeg using File, Export.
Is there any way to adjust saturation/exposure/contrast for bulk images at once?
I'm new to your videos - they are great - is there a 'good' photo collage tool for Mac Photo?
There might be. Check the App Store. I don't use one myself.
How can we adjust aperture or focus on a photos taken with portrait mode from iPhone?
View it, tap Edit, then look at the bottom for Portrait and select that. Then you should have a depth slider above it.
Thanks Gary. One problem I have is croping a photo to a specific size such as 4 x 6. How do you do that?
Go to Crop, then on the right choose Custom under aspect ratios and set it to 4:6.
