"These OXO containers have harmful chemicals.... let me sell them to an uninformed consumer on Facebook Marketplace!" In all seriousness, thanks for the warning - I've spent far too many hours these past few weeks searching for glass containers, and so many people use the OXO containers in their pantry make-overs, I was wondering if I made the wrong choice going with glass. Slowly trying to eliminate plastic from my kitchen.

I love the way you “cut” this together! And the energy! I live in a studio apartment so my pantry is from ikea but still watching from beginning to end!
I hope i don’t defend you but I have a question about how you and your husband share the work at home? Like cleaning, making dinner, take care of the kids and so on. I think it’s quite interesting and wondering if that’s someting you would considering making a video about. I live in Sweden and a stay home mum is almost a shameful thing. We are suposed to have a career and not focus on family otherwise you have failed. I think it’s quite sad and I wish things where different. Maby that’s someting you could talk about. Finally! Thank you for inspires me every day ❤️
The oxo containers are supposedly pba free. Is there another chemical we are supposed to look for? (The #7 category is a catch-all for all that don't fit in other categories recycling wise. )
Mind blown. I have to get rid of my oxo containers now. Ugh. 😭 Can’t believe that! Love the way your pantry turned out, and the shelves look like actual wood! 😍
So I definitely tried this and had to go and get more and redo it haha. On the hanging front part, I couldn’t get the lines straight. Lol so had to redo that 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Judging from the ‘before’, the fact that you even have empty containers in your pantry, not refilled and hided in the back, I am sure the make over won’t last long. It’s a process to maintain a house, to storage food. My advice is to have those once in a while week, just don’t go grocery shopping, sticking with the pantry you have. Eat up your food, and you will get to understand yourself and your eating habits.
I have to admit I didn’t think I’d see anything new in your video because I’ve already seen so many pantry makeovers. But your ideas and your spontaneous joy are contagious. Thanks for the inspiration!
Love this. But foam core is SO bad for the environment when it reaches the end of its life. I would rather use a recyclable thick board and wrap it in a waterproof layer
Elle, this is truly the nicest and most beautiful pantry makeover I've seen on RUclips, and believe me when I tell you I am not easily impressed. You know what? To blazes with Pinterest. Sorry, no offense to anyone, but I am old school from way before the internet or social media were created. It is not important what anyone else thinks of your progress. What is important is that you've taken your own God-given talent and skills to create something beautiful and functional (for almost no $), which you can be proud of for years to come. What a wonderful lesson to impart on your children! To me, that is sooo much more important than being Pinterest or Instagram worthy (although it is). You obviously created this space with love, and it is genuinely inspiring. Well done, girl! 👏 You have just earned another new subscriber. 😉
What do you do about extra that doesn’t fit in those containers? We buy lots in bulk (oatmeal for example) and what we buy would not fit in any “cute” canisters 😫
Maybe put the extra oatmeal in freezer bags and put them in the freezer or in a basket on the top shelf? Maybe even a tub with the latching handles & have it stored somewhere for later?
@@elle.lindquist nice BUT I think that they aren't that practical for my because the ball lid would roll away on my countertop when pouring something out of the jar.
My pantry is a reproduction pie safe lol, not a whole lot of space for a mom with 4 kids! I just use whatever glass jars, recycled, upcycled, mason, whatever haha!! It could use a going through right now as well
Thanks so much for this video and education on OXO - last year my husband and i bought a bunch of them :( I love your idea of selling and replacing with glass&cork so I will do that too!
Where did you get these jars ? You did not have a link? Would love to replace these plastic containers in my chicken with these beautiful Glass Jars with cork stoppers
I’m glad I saw this video before running out to get more OXO containers! But I don’t want to go all glass either because I also have anxiety about my kids (or husband) dropping the glass on our tile kitchen floor.
Ok, so I just went to check the oxo containers that I do have and it does say 7 but underneath that it has a bpa free sign. Are we safe enough or still not safe?
Those containers you sold could always be used for things other than food. I’m just wondering when you sold them did you tell the buyer they’re not safe for food. I couldn’t sell them if I thought I was just passing the problem on to somebody else. 😥
So when you pull things off the shelf does the board slide? Did you attach it to the wire shelves? LOVE this makeover. Going to help my mom do this to her pantry!
If I had something that I found not to be food safe I wouldn’t feel right selling it on to another family it would be thrown away not good for the environment but better to be safe . Also foam board is full of chemicals and bad for the environment also it then covered in more plastic.
None of the board is directly touching what I’ll eat (unlike the containers which are directly holding dry goods). Not everyone is concerned with plastics which is why I felt comfortable selling. Also throwing them in the garbage would’ve been terrible for the environment especially if they’re still in working condition 🥰
I love how it turned out!I like organizing my pantry too it makes me smile everytime I go there. I love the wooden top jars!IIs the air seal better than OXO plastic jars? Thanks
“I’m just a girl who doesn’t want to eat chemicals” I’m right there with you. I mean really is that so much to ask but we both know it apparently is because it’s so hard to find things to buy that aren’t harming you.

my thoughts when you said you sold the oxo containers to someone else: oh, so you want someone else to live with that potential plastic poisoning. Charming.
This is awesome. Thank you for the plastic differences heads up! My problem is always Step 1. I have a good sized pantry, but nowhere to put everything I need to pull out of it in order to make it over! It's going to take me a full week, and my kitchen will be unusable in the meantime. 🤦♀️
Love this Elle ❤️ I am restyling an unused linen closet into a ‘pantry’ so your video is so inspirational. Beautiful intentional flourishing 😊 Also, excellent research on the plastics and solution to sell and find other solutions!!!! Thrifty!
My pantry definitely needs to be organized! We're working on a video where my pantry shows briefly and I'm so embarrassed 😟 running to Dollar Tree now! 🏃♀️😂
Looks amazing! Im glad you said that about the OXO containers because I was going back and forth on those and some others semi similar to your new ones. I am totally going to be a copy cat and do the same to my shelves :)
Plastic everywhere.. foam core, shelf liner, kids snacks packaging, .... And those Oxo containers were not safe to sell to someone else.. they should have been firmly installed in the dumpster.
“Oh these are unsafe.. well let me get rid of them and sell them to someone else on Facebook Market” 🤣 Sounds like something I would do. I need my coints...🤣

OMG... so glad I came across your video during a night of can’t sleep. Absolutely fun to watch!! Thanks for making the video entertaining as well as informative. ❤️🤗
Brilliant idea and your pantry looks amazing after a makeover! Just wanted to check the boards u put over the wire shelves, did u stick them to the shelf or just kept them? I have a kid helper was wondering if they pull the whole thing or put too much pressure when trying to get stuff beyond their reach. Also your take on Oxo makes me happy as i never was able to convince myself to buy those super expensive jars, now it makes me more confident to not buy OXO. 😀 Thanks again for your wonderful ideas!
I love your research!! So me!!! As consumers we shouldn’t have to be hardcore researchers - AMEN SISTER. But I’m glad we do it becuse there’s soo many plastic options
Niiiice! Im starting and pray it comes out as good (I bought my glass storage from WorldMarket and the cheapest found this far). Also Would it make sense to tape the front cover BEFORE adding shelf paper?
Thanks for this. Kmart Australia has a knock off version of the oxo pop containers that I bought to put in my pantry. You made me research them. While they are considered a #7 for recycling, the material they are made from Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene doesn't leach any harmful chemicals. I tried to find out specifically what the oxo containers are made from, but can't find the specific name anywhere. Can I just say, you did a fantastic job! I'd be tempted to take the pantry door off! It looks so amazing.
Found your channel searching through pantry shelving makeovers and I instantly wanted you to join my best friend circle. Great video + great personality. Looking through your other videos I ran and hit that subscribe button. Hopping over to Instagram to follow you there too!
Lovely! What are the dimensions of your pantry? Mine is rather small, like a coat closet and wondering if I can make something like this work for me. Thanks!
I got all of my OXO canisters at TJ Maxx for less than half of retail, so I don't feel *too* terrible swapping them out! Can you link the labels you used in the drop down? They look like reusable wet erase ones but I can't tell? Great job btw!
Thank you for the plastic info, I am blown away that the oxo containers aren’t food safe, I checked my Ikea plastics and they are No 2, I will def be checking for No 7 in the future
just checked my dollar tree containers. no number on them anywhere. i think that might be problematic. also, i have old rubbermaid containers that i have my flour, sugar, etc in. the larger containers have the number 2. the exact same containers in the smaller size are number 3. go figure. glad i have my moms old nescafé glass jars. i store beans and such in them. only have 10 and i wish i had more. they’re square shaped so you can fit more in without any wasted space.
I admit that I find it hard that all those jars with cork lids or whatever cost less than 20 dollars. I'm not real clear about that. You don't really show where you got them at. What did you get from Ikea? It would be nice if you can clarify the true cost of all the stuff you paid for.
I watched this bbc show about families who are accustom to name brand and over shop and eat too much processed foods and someone comes in and takes away all of the lables and replaces some things with generic some with better quality and some the same and keeps the family guessing. I just loved the look everything had a plan white paper with black letters no advertising. I started removing lables of foods that I knew what they were like my coconut oild I realized how much business was on the lable that was one of the easiest to peel off some of the others like spices and acv I covered with white paper. as far as buy containers i like using mason jars they are one on the most affordable options and they are so common it is easy to replace and keep consistancy within. they don't work for everything but I recently switched to only the wide mouth and I am passing on my narrow mouth jars for simplification. that is another thing that has really helped having less varity were it doesn't really help. example I don't really need 10 kinds of noodles. having a lot less box mix foods also makes a pantry look so much nicer. I need to paper my shelves taking the doors off really helped cut down on the level of orange in my kitchen I litterally could feel a calming sensation wash over my body as I took off each cupboard door I have bought the shelf paper but its a little harder to put on actual shelves and the back and side parts of cupboards than something removable.
Those bottle type jars are so small that a bag content would not fit in it, so do you just fold up the excessive and store at the bottom of the pantry in a basket? I must be the only one to store items in its original container/bag. I think more room is available, space wise, by storing in the original. For instance, storing tp in a basket holds less than stacking neatly on top of each roll. I guess I just don't get it. Arlene
Wow I just did a pantry make over and I am so upset that I did not see this video before the containers that I got were pretty expensive and I just checked and there are 7 I'm so angry...

OMG... so glad I came across your video during a night of can’t sleep. Absolutely fun to watch!! Thanks for making the video entertaining as well as informative. ❤️🤗
New sub. Nice job! Are you vegan or wfpb by any chance? Just asking because of the quinoa, chia, almond flour, etc in your pantry.
Beautiful and very inspiring. I saw many pantry makeovers and yours stuck me the most. ♥️♥️
Aw this makes me so happy to hear
Brilliant idea and your pantry looks amazing after a makeover! Just wanted to check the boards u put over the wire shelves, did u stick them to the shelf or just kept them? I have a kid helper was wondering if they pull the whole thing or put too much pressure when trying to get stuff beyond their reach.
Also your take on Oxo makes me happy as i never was able to convince myself to buy those super expensive jars, now it makes me more confident to not buy OXO. 😀
Thanks again for your wonderful ideas!
You’ve inspired me! Currently cutting foam boards now!!!
LOVE THIS- they look like thick butcher block floating shelves. Such a vibe
I subscribed to your channel last night 🤟🏻 Thank you for this calming video!!!!!
Thank you soooo much for making this video! I just subscribed & I’m looking forward to watching you create & bring your wonderful ideas to life 😍
I love your research!!
So, did you passed off bad, non-food grade #7 plastic containers to an unsuspecting consumer?
Arlene
It’s beautiful. I am going to do that to my ugly wire shelves. And I’m tired of stuff falling through the spaces between the wires!
Hello from Katherine's channel (do it on a dime). She linked your pantry video in her upload today. Thought id check it out.
Thanks a lot for your video which is very informative. So different from the many videos about pantry organization. 👍
I just can't get the lip part to fold down and stay there. All of mine stay propped up and I can see the wire frame underneath. What should I do?
Wow I just did a pantry make over and I am so upset that I did not see this video before the containers that I got were pretty expensive and I just checked and there are 7 I'm so angry...
First video I’m watching of yours and subscribed right away
You did a great job. The wood looks real! Can you please link everything? Contact paper, labels, etc
