It comes off really easily, but be sure to do it outside, because otherwise, you'll be swallowing glass specs for the rest of your life - ie, it will be impossible to clean. Try letting the coating soak up the water, and then pinch it, and make a bubble. Then you'll have some space between the pad and then coating to make a small cut. Then just tear the entire thing off with your hands, and rip away!

@@FXTeacher if you have a worn-out shidenkai taking off the top layer will always be better than a old shidenkai. when going back a forth between the torn shidenkai and the hein i could tell it was slower, but i could only tell when i was really comparing it, its not something that will make you play better or worse, i would say its not worth the 70 to get a hien that is so slightly faster that its hard to notice
wow. I basically retired my shidenkai about a year ago because i "ruined" the pad by accidentally laying on it and it left a pretty brutal crease. I thought mousepad coating was mixed in with the fiber. If I had to guess before watching this I would probably say they poured a liquid version of the coating onto the mousepad and let it set or compressed it. I didn't know it was just stuck onto a mousepad and you could take it off.
It would be so cool if on the website they like gave you a way to safely remove the glass coating so that when the shidenkai wears out you can still have a pretty great mousepad

Did order a hien, SOFT and Mid, they're both terrible for me as a fingertip (even have hyperglides on). It's way too control and very textured, probably better for palm or claw users or maybe it's just me idk

Is the glide of the shidenkai turned into a hien the same as a stock hien
