My brother and I loved Jacks playing....we studied all of Jacks works in the 70s and 80s. We especially loved his ECM works...my brother stylized his drumming from Jacks technique..
Absolutely amazingly awesome 🥁🔥🥁💎🥁 3:38

Huge sound.
The dude is just so tasty. Listen to his 1st album Special Edition. The high hat work on India is the coolest. So musical.
Check out his solo on Kenny wheeler’s album gnu high. Just cymbals.
quantas polegadas tem esse Bumbo..?
Tbm queria saber, mas parece um 16
Secondo me è bravo
I'm not a great fan of drummers that exclusively use doubles to sound fast. De Johnette is one of the rare exceptions.
I can almost guarantee that DeJohnette isn't trying to sound fast. He is just playing the music. That might be why it works.
Playing double-strokes uniformly and loud is in no way an easy means/shortcut for “sounding fast”. Also, I guarantee you that isn’t what Mr. DeJohnette’s intentions were anyway.
Raindrops bro, raindrops
Every jazz drummer does this, and their intention is not to 'sound fast.'
Playing doubles is far more orchestral than singles. Check out Carlock or Joey Baron to understand the use in soloing is not cheating for speed, it's fluidity of motion and and sound.
Where's the feel? Dynamics? Sounds like a computer.
Get a grip!
I think it's time to visit the ear doctor homie.
