@@treasuretvjackson8018 ok. But its an older woman who sees a kid sitting alone selling stuff. Also its not okay to take pictures of kids you just find alone out on the street.
The death of her parents, to a home where she was abused, to living on her own, to a system that failed her and would fail her again. Clearly that is what went through the mind of the social worker who allowed her to leave quietly.....unnoticed. A brilliant and beautifully done film. In my "happy ending mind" the social worker takes her under his wing and adopts her.
Would have been a lovely happy ending for this story indeed. But the woman did say that he still had a stack of other cases to tend to. He couldn't have taken every one under his wings...
As a parent whose sees her out by herself playing with your kids,,, how do you not question that??? She would have went home with me, I wouldn't be able to leave her out there like that... Breaks my heart...

I dont adopt because I havr no desire to but if I saw a child on the street they're coming home with me PERIOD my sister get them cleaned up I'll cook a fine meal and make a warm bed to rest in. No child deserves to live on the street
Another option is to become a foster parent. You don't need to be married, or have a lot of money, just caring & willing to give a child a safe place, filled with patience, love, & emotional support. Sometimes children end up in childrens services because their parents pass away, like this precious girl. She could initially be fostered, then later the foster parent(s) can either become the guardian or adoptive parent(s). Personally, I became a foster parent of four siblings. After three & a half years, I was awarded guardianship of them. So, you CAN be the change you want to see in the world. They are all our children, & children are our future.
Did anyone notice that she carries her parents with her everywhere she went even when she was angry at them for leaving I guess. They spiritually provided for and protected her. I was torn on the inside when I didn't know who the guy was, but was even more angry when I saw the cigarette scene. Thank God for angels who protects us when we are not aware of them.
Why would you 'doubt she had much more than a TV'? First of all, this is just a short film, so it isn't real. Secondly, this film is trying to show that her life was normal like any other child until her parents died so she ran away because she didn't want to end up in foster care. Even if she only "just had a TV" (which I'm not sure why you'd come to that conclusion), she still had a family, electricity, and a home, and she had to give that all up and live on the streets without any parents. Yeah, she may have someone to give her food now and then, but she still has to find places to sleep, protect herself from anything bad (storms, bad weather, etc.), and take care of herself. Those are survival skills.
No child should be alone like this. She cannot protect herself from predators let alone the elements. We have to do better by our children. And when they get 18 we still cannot just let them go. They need support.

I find it incredibly weird and interesting symbolism that she finds comfort and safety around and between white people, and runs from the black man. It was just an interesting juxtaposition that jumped out at me. 1. The dude with the cigarette which was hella weird as a scene. To see this innocent girl transform into a downtrodden middle aged woman before our eyes. I thought he would take advantage of her. 2. The man at the beach who stopped the black guy from grabbing her. 3. How she stood between the safe loving arms of white folks holding hands. 4. How she ravished the black stick figures in the sand. And then the disgusting way that case worker (black woman) was treating her situation as though she was a throw away. It's almost like a message that we as a community continue to fail our own people, particularly our youths. I wonder what the writers would have to say about this or if it's been spoken about in some film fest. She is such a precious little girl. Great actress.

You would make it. It brings out a certain side of people some people don't know they have. It is sad but I wish people would use that sadness to help people in that situation. I adopted a child who was on the streets like this, homeless at a young age just like her. It was a very tough path for us both. Now she is an adult and doing well because I refused to let her go and give up. It was not for lack of trying on her part either! LOL I saw something in her she did not see in herself, 'not' giving up was the hardest thing I have ever done. She wanted me to give up back then and proudly taunted that she would make my like a living hell until I did, which she did. She doesn't know me very well. I don’t have it in my to give up so I held on. She was a tough little street girl taking care of a brother and sister in diapers at the time. She did it and came out of it in the end. She is in her 20's now.
Even though she doesn't want to go with him, you can tell she knows he is trying to help her, because she made a stick person of him and let it in his desk.
The woman at the desk was angry when the male social worker was upset by the whip marks on the child's back. Telling him, " You know how this system works !" That's just it, it doesn't work at all. Neither does this country.

@@shototodoroki7947 I didnt say I didnt believe it
The way we see the world through her eyes, especially in the fair at night, was beautiful and so heartbreaking as well.
I love how that man gives her food and acts as her friend
Chilly Pepper lps how do you know the man Is acting and not her real friend?
What I meant but that is he acts like a friend figure to her 😑
smantha ponce that's what the person means...

Yeah. I teared up when he didn't want her to pay him back because he knew she was struggling.😭

ᔕᑕᗩᖇᒪᗴTT ᗴᐯᗴ ᗯᗩᗪᗴ I know but I’ve seen the system fail people in similar ways
Yeah and also the cranna
This homeless girl is lucky compared to the homeless kids in different countries.
My mom used to live like this
Who else saw the scars on her back I wonder why she’s missing she was abused.
Oh I did I forgot I did I said 8 didn't in one comment
Lol I did not notice that
The amount of people who never asked why is this child alone
It's really sad that no one cares that there's a little girl on the streets on her own!!
That guy did
In my opinion I feel like, she wanted to be alone with nobody. Because she ran away from the guy. And I think the guy was trying to help her?
@@DanielGarcia-ql8tk No, he was trying to kidnap her..

This child deserves an Oscar. Absolutely fantastic.
RUclips Sensation no it's not but I wouldn't give her an Oscar for it.
An Oscar for being the most homeless person
Trinity Hall how do we know you are
Trinity Hall no you have a phone you're not poor
Trinity Hall ur profile doesn't make you look sad. And how bout that video saying Best thing ever huh?? Earn money yourself
Is she waiting for adoption or what? Past TildaKMartin
Man i would do nothing but hold that baby and read to her, make sure she has everything she needs and make sure she knows she's loved and a beautiful young lady

The number of children facing homelessness in America is staggering and heartbreaking.😞 Thank you to the creators of this film for helping raise awareness.

I’m nearly positive its staged tho, still awesome that it raises awareness because there are so many people who have to live like this.

@Narhiya Carithers I think you missed the point
When he sees her and then looks away, I just broke into tears. Such a good man, a caring person, belongs there fighting for the kids. 😪
I'm disgusted by that lady who took a picture and walked away
I'm tried to spread MY opinion about this, and look at the repliers, not bothering to read my dang edits
People who saying they are actors, even so it is so frustrating, that barely any acts of kindness were shown, at the very least a smoker did the most acts of kindness. Though glad that's she's alive
Edit number 2: People who are saying they are paid for God's sake I know that, I'm saying relentlessly the message shows that kids in the world suffer from poverty. For those who don't know what deceased means, it means dead, or perished. So her parents are dead
