Full length movie
This movie makes my heart run fast, as i am watching it all comes back memories of my own story, as young girl in Mogadishu when the War began. I have lost my parents and a only brother and i was orphaned as the result.
A year later trapped in the burning city hopeless and scared,me and some relatives who was caring for me finally got the chance to leave.
We arrived in Kenya although I have never being in the refugee camp,I had terrible experience in Kenya, Kenya wasn't welcoming Country and the police were going door to door hunting immigrants, although i was living with family members who were Kenyan citizens, with no document in hand we scapped once more to South Africa, and lived there for 13 years, from there i immigrated to the United States, but recently came back to homeland Somalia 🇸🇴
So this's not a movie, but really and result of War torn people, it doesn't matter where they call home, war is terrible thing, may God help those who are in similar situations 🙏
My heart has been taken for awhile 😢❤
May you find a lasting peace wherever you are
Dieu vous accorde la paix ❤
Please leave Somalia
God grant you peace
I am Irish, from Dublin, & this film makes me proud of my people for our welcoming kindness.
Truly the people who were there for Ifrah did a wonderful job of building her up with loving healthcare & educational support, but to me the most important gift they gave to Ifrah after all she had taken from her, was the fact that they listened to her & allowed her to speak ...they gave her a voice, a home & a purpose. 💚☘

I have always love to migrate to Dublin to work as a Nurse .

I am from South Africa and I cannot relate to what young girls in Somalia go through; however I understand their pain. May all of them heal from the pain and trauma they went through. Love from a fellow African sister ❤
Only who went through FGM type 3&4 can relate much to ifrah. I know how it feels been through the same had to run away with a child and seek asylum in Finland 🇫🇮. Thank you ifrah speaking for the voiceless such a phenomenal warm welcome from Ireland and Irish people 🫡.
Really? ... it must be so difficult for you
I send to you and all of the girls who have suffered these inhumane mutilation all my love and I hope and pray Allah that he gives all of you good and happy life 🥹 sorry this happened to you and you’re a warrior !!

Wow! Watching this on International Women's Day, how timely! Thank you Ifrah, champion for Women! I cried when you sobbed in that hospital. Truly nothing is by chance, or coincidence, Ifrah being taken to Ireland was ordained, which better country than Ireland to understand struggle, pain and healing? Thank you to those good men and women from Somalia to Ireland who helped so many pple from war torn countries, THANK YOU!.....thank you also to men and women around the world who stand up for humanity!.
Itd good to shout out the problem of humanity god bless😢
I nearly didnt watch this movie but am so glad I did, What a truly inspiring girl Ifrah was and is. Am so glad you are continuing to spread the word of FGM and the evil it is for the girls. I have signed many petitions to stop this evil practice but never actually had a 100% understanding to the extent they cut and mutilate these young girls. Thank you for posting

This movie deeply moved me, bringing back memories of the challenging times in Mogadishu during the civil war. Ifrah's strength and resilience are truly inspiring for women everywhere. What’s it like in those camps? I’m sorry to ask. I’ve seen pictures and thousands of people were just sitting on the ground, some holding their starving children. We Americans, even the poorest of us, should never complain about anything. Damn. 😞
Wow! I’m so glad her skirt hem didn’t get caught in the escalator. I remember the first time I ever stepped on one, in Chicago O’Hare. I was terrified being from a small farm in the middle of nowhere. My nerves are tore up watching this movie.
What a story!! Credit to the guy who helped her out of Mohadishu all the way to Ireland. I would have loved him to support her cause and become a total hero, but that isn't the case, so sad. Ifrah, the girl from Mogadishu is a story of coming from grass to grace. I hope she's been able to visit her aunt in Minnesota she's such a nice woman.
Brother
The guy who sent her in Ireland had a pure heart.
It’s her uncle. I hope his help was genuine and from the heart. But there’s another theory, In Somalia when a girl gets r_ed either the family send her away as far as they can or marry her off to her r_pist quickly, to avoid rumours spreading and protect the family’s name and reputation
I was crying when she saw Somalian girl we are one nation religion, one language I’m so proud 🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴🇸🇴
But different tribes 😢
That is why I like Brazil, women are treated with respect and there is freedom of religion and expression.
The same thing happened to me really , I also cried that moment but what makes me worry and sad was when the guy who was with her brought her Ireland instead of where she thought she'd be taken. Really it's a heartbreaking movie
Cheers 🍻 🥂 to those of us who read comments while the movie ❤

went through fgm when i was 6 yrs with razor blade too 😢 remembering it makes me cry .i was raised my grandma and she said it was traditional to do that i remember it was me and my sister and several other girls in our neighborhood.i remember the first girl they cut she was overbleeding coz she was cutted in a wrong way . some women holding us down to be cutted screaming with pain .they poured some herb there and they tied our legs together. and i was in the same condition as that girl who didn't pee remembering my smotach getting bigger and coz peeing was very very painful 😢and that ends with me never letting my daughters go through what i went through

It's important to raise awareness about this issue and work towards ending such harmful cultural practices which is even opposing Islamic teachings. Watching this from Johannesburg & Medical Doctor! I saw a whole ward of women at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre who were being treated for complications of Female Genital Mutilation in the 1990’s! To even think Gambia has reversed their stance to reintroduce this ghastly culture practice 🥺! A great film, deeply informative .
To people who have been victims of war and FGM and lost dear ones as a result of war just know we love you and you're strong. I hope one day we would join you in a campaign to stop FGM in communities still practicing it.

To find yourself in Dublin Ireland when you thought you are in Minnesota USA must have been a crazy moment for the young girl who had gone through a lot already. What a story!!!

Thanks Ifrah for showcasing to the world the happenings in Somali. You did it pro Bono and for the love of your people.

The movie made me cried cos I remembered my somali friends. We talked about the topic but not so deep to understand FGM to this extend. Then I see it as a normal thing cos it is also practiced in my country. Now i understand it's effect after watching the movie. I wish I had watched it when I was close to both my somali female friends and Nigerians.

i haven't start watching this film and just to read a lot of the comments my heart is already broken for many women suffering and i can imagined children and some innocent man , cause some man in the world have been victim trying to protected their loving family and possible friend. May God be around us in any step and stop all evil action. I pray for all President , leadership in the country to be fear of God to protect and bring and keep peace in all country of the world. 🙏
Sad, why do we Africans fail to accommodate each other in times of such hardships. Somalians have been dying in large numbers in closed containers while being smuggled in foreign countries because they are denied entry due to lack of funds for them to get proper entry .We have a large community of Somalians living in Zambia and proud of how we have welcomed them in our communities as our own. God bless Somali
We also have lots of them here in Uganda that came during those dark times. And our soldiers have regularly been posted in Somalia to keep peace. It's such a painful one because we as Ugandans have lost many of our relatives that have died in service as freedom fighters. May God have mercy on Somalia 🙏
As sad as this story is, it is also a testament that no one can derail your destiny. She almost became a victim of human trafficking and look at where she is now and the work she had done.
