- Transformers G1 IDW Comics story Megatron will now be uncovered on this channel. What happens when the little guy decides to take a stand for a justifiable cause? What does it take for a person to snap? How much despair does it take for a mind to finally fracture? These are the twisted questions that Megatron has set out to answer, to show a corrupt government system that even an ordinary man like himself is only 1 bad day away from sheer insanity. What's going on everybody my name is RBG and welcome to my newly introduced segment The Transformers IDW G1 Continuity. This is something I've been wanting to cover for a while now and with the positive reception we've been getting from our Transformers Movie Universe History show I figured why not up the anty and further explore the lore. And what better way to do so than to go back to the beginning where things were just taking off in their rawest form.

I wanted to get this out faster but was still working on touching up my recording studio so if the audio sounds a little different then that's why. Dropping a Megatron origin movie would be awesome, seeing what they did with Bumblebee. The movies never portray him as a hero.

Ya but the Bumblebee movie was absolute garbage and like it was made for 8 year olds. The opening scene on Cybertron was sick, the rest of the movie was a joke & cringefest.

I have been binging all the series lately to understand it more including the japanese series.... now I need to start reading the comins or watching reviews of them on youtube like this video here.... 👍
I read all the comics of "Megatron Origin", and I think the plot is a masterpiece, this should be a movie

LOL if it wasn't for the SiFi robot like setting, this store if turned into a movie would be called Oscar Bait.
When you read the IDW transformers comics run from start to Finish in a chronological order, you realized that Megatron was the main character of the series.

All he wanted to do was make changes. It’s too bad he went mad and let that madness drive him to use more ruthless methods of doing so.
It's like Prime later on in the series said something along the lines off "You showed us the way. It is not yet too late for you to become the leader you could have been..."
Holden Greenhalgh blame the Senate for Megatron’s madness.
Megatron initially wanted to make changes to Cybertron’s society through non-violent means, which ultimately would’ve stripped the corrupt Senate of their power.
Seeing that Megatron was gonna be a threat to their reign, the Senate ordered an Autobot that worked directly for them, Whirl, to kill him after he was arrested and in police custody (Megatron actually didn’t do anything, a friend of his brutalized two military cadets and he was arrested just for being associated with him). While beating his helpless prisoner, Whirl told Megatron that it didn’t matter if he died and that nobody cared about him.
Whirl was caught in the act and restrained before he could finish Megatron off, as he was being set free due to an eyewitness testimony saying he was not involved in the beating his friend gave to those cadets. While Megatron wasn’t killed, the psychological damage had been done. As his sense of injustice and powerlessness made him realize that a more forceful approach was required in order to change society.
So yeah, Megatron was a good person. But unfortunately the corrupt society he sought to change ended up changing him for the worst when they tried to silence him. The Senate ultimately created their own destruction.

I agree. I also think that Megatron (much like the Joker in Batman), is too aware of his actions to be insane in the sense of being mentally ill. Both Megatron and Joker are fully aware of the enormous chaos, destruction and damage that they cause, as well as the massively heinous nature of these acts. The difference between Optimus Prime and Megatron (and Batman and Joker actually) is very simple, and makes for a good comparison.
Optimus Prime believes in freedom from oppression, and is willing to sacrifice *himself* for it.

@@Laserbeak316 Also, while he was a miner and still writing his manifesto, they sent a bot called Froid to alter his personality, however the process was halted not long after it had begun, something that probably contributed to his madness.

Excellent. And nice Soundwave. Before this, in flashback, while at a bar with Impactor, a fight broke out and Megatron was arrested. While in custody he was beaten by Whirl and a few goons. It took only ONE BAD DAY to turn a pacifist into a warlord.
Sometimes lives and history itself do turn on a dime..
It was also the day where orion pax and megs first met
trence5 damn Senate made Whirl and other Bots do their dirty work. Any emerging threat to their power and they sought to silence them.
Little did they realize that their attempt to kill Megatron ultimately sealed their fates and guaranteed their own destruction.
That reminds me of a quote from Punisher to Daredevil "You think your some saint because you where that suit your a hero well you ain't you're just one bad bay from becoming me"
Actually, there were at least TWO bad days: the mine closure day + the Whirl beat-down day. We don't know how many days Megs spent considering non-violent protest, nor how many days he was in jail before he was released to go to that bar. He may have had some more bad days in jail.
Megatron has and always will be my favorite transformer. This masterpiece of a story gives my loyalty ultimate justification. Primus bless your spark young man. ALL HAIL MEGATRON!

Dude, I've watched a couple of your videos before, but haven't seen anything like this until now. This is CLEARLY where you shine! I'm legally blind. One of the biggest issues for me, is being able to read, when there are lots of distractions, around the words i.e. reading comic books is nearly impossible for me, and there are so few visual and auditory formatted comics out there. You doing this, is absolutely wonderful to me! Thank you so much for being the one to finally allow me to enjoy these! You can't know how appreciative I am for this gift. Thank you, truly!
Just stumbled across this I've fallen down a rabbit hole in the last few weeks reigniting my childhood love of Transformers. This was great man really good voice acting too.
This was so awesome. Good job man. You should definetley continue with the IDW stuff. You could do Primacy next, the story on how Orion Pax became Optimus Prime.

I have to agree with you.... As someone who appreciates the old and new of the transformers community I for the most part have my likes and dislikes about both... But IDW has seem to do justice for both sides... And I am an 18 year old who has seen the original g 1 series ( I pride myself on being on the middle ground)... Hope to see more

Most of the 1980s cartoons I watched as a kid were created as a way to sell toys. It’s impressive that they still turned out so good and captured kids’ imaginations so well that they’re still around 40 years later!
Oh my god, you’ve done so well with the voice acting here, and your goal of bringing a bit more unity between the g1 and the newer fandom is really sweet! I’ve only just begun branching out into the comics with MTMTE and the Wreckers saga from watching TFP, and really liked what they did with Megatron there in MTMTE, and what you’ve done with this video has definitely convinced me to pick up more of the g1 continuity👍 You’ve got a real knack with words and for presentation

Yes so nice for the seekers to get some time in the limelight. I was always a fan of Thundercracker,Skywarp ( eventually Cyclonis ) and Starscream ( in a non-snivilling persona). I also loved Rumble and Frenzy. I had Soundwave and D.J with all the original mini-cons

those aren’t autobots though. the symbol was made by “Onyx Prime”, and its supposed to represent the face of Primus. they weren’t called autobots until Zeta Prime’s regime so you would say the symbol represented the senate.

Everyone in the series is more or less obsessed with Megatron, either trying to rival him, replace him or kill him for other reasons. Why does everyone want him dead? Not because he's evil but because he's awesome.
