Eclipse is also GREAT for metal dude, don't underestimate it. I have the same guitar as this guy and it's metal tone is insane :) Other then that, great cover and love ur guitar! Cheers
This is propably a late reply. I did some research and found out that there are both mahogany and alder horizonn fr's. It has something to do with the year of construction. Anyway it's a neck through guitar so you mostly hear maple and the mahogany wings won't sound much different from alder wings. By the way only to tell my opinion i will say that in this guitar and any solo guitar (i had to categorise it:D) i would prefer the body wood to be alder. That's why i love jacksons too:)
Awesome and flawless guitar playing! I've got the same FR II Horizon with alder and Duncans (in DBSB) but I can't manage to create this quality sound (in this video). You use the bridge or the neck pickup? Do you have certain effects creating this sound? I'm sure a great part of this magnificent sound is the picking technic you use, making notes "semi-harmonized" (I'm sure this is not the right definition) Thank you for your time and I apologise for any possible interruption. I agree about the finish i have seen this guitar u r talking about but i didnt know it is mahogany. But i think alder is a great wood too.. Can't decide which is better, maybe mahogany

Hmm maybe u r right. But alder jacksons is almost my favorite for metal. i think mahogany sounds better with less distortion and its great for soft melodic leads. Alder on the other hand is great with a bit more distortion and makes better shredding leads. Dunno i would rather have 2 guitars with both woods. For the moment i have an alder guitar so i cannot judge 100% sure (even if i have played many times with mah ESP and PRS)
Pretty good cover, but i dont feel like he captures the emotion of the song. Too much vibrato where it doesnt need to be and too hard of picking. Great guitar player though. If you'd like, check out my channel for my cover of this song. Thanks.

if you get one get it with the duncans. There is no point having active EMG in a great guiitar like the ESP horizon
