I get where he's coming from with devs, you had to be some kind of genius to make games 20/30 years ago, there weren't youtube tutorials, guide books or pre-fabricated plugins, video games only existed because extremely smart people were inventing them, those people moved on to other careers, consulting, AI, VR, running their own companies, big brain scientific and engineering endeavors. Now i imagine most devs come out of college with surface level Unity and Unreal knowledge, it still takes extremely smart people to make games i'm not saying they're dumb like me, but they didn't create the engines or solder the circuits, there's probably a lot of problems that they just don't know how to fix, and there's definitely some people working in AAA who know less than some indie devs.

Then I went to South Korea and everyone used computers with DAWs, no traditional music education at all, completely eye opening, made me feel like a fossil.
This reminds me of the Jak and Daxter devs recounting how they ignored the PS2 dev kit documentation, and instead opened it up to see how it worked, ran their own diagnostics, designed a programming language specifically for the system, and wrote custom code for the stuff they needed. They said these things were the norm "back in the day" but were becoming rare in the 2000's - imagine how exceptional devs like these guys would be by today's standards.

What Aris said is true. Pc there are like a million configurations, components, gpu, processors, and all that. I will always prefer console, it’s so simple, and games will most of the time be better optimized for consoles.

They don't have to code for a million different configurations that's not how it works. If they did, PC games wouldn't be even close to how good they are. Most PC ports are absolutely fine. On the contrary, with my PC of 5 years old I can play whatever the latest PS5 game is that comes out, but with the console route I have to buy a whole new piece of hardware with peripherals just to play this one game. With PC I can run a game that came out yesterday or a game that came out 30 years ago. And I don't have to pay for online like a bitch.

Consoles end up costing a lot more than people realize because they have to get the latest one to get the latest games, then they have to re-buy all their peripherals which are like $100 each now, re buy old games that get re-released, pay $100 a year to play online, plus the steam savings on games are far beyond what you get on consoles.
@fyaun Yes they basically have to test it for certain minimum levels of performance. I don't know why this is still such an issue because some developers are so good at it. More than ever people are buying very predictable combinations of cpu/gpu. A lot of the time people just need to make the simplest adjustments to settings to fix their problem, turn shadows off ultra or whatever, but yeah they aren't willing to do that. I'm sure most of these games that come out and are in the news for "horrible port" I wouldn't have even noticed an issue. Real simple to find generally recommended settings online. Every game has those 1 or 2 options that tank FPS. Things like geforce experience allegedly help with too but I don't use it. Devs should know when they are including options that tank FPS though. Usually when you pick a preset "medium" or "high" or whatever, it just sets everything to medium or high, it doesn't actually pick a properly configured combination of settings. Usually all it takes is a quick google search to find out what the correct settings are that give you 95% of the quality for half the resource usage.
I've had a ps5 for years and I've bought exactly 2 games. I feel like they haven't gotten anywhere close to getting the most out of ps5 yet, there is zero justification for Sony making a Pro
Real PC gamers shouldn't give a damn about this, all these ports are just what they are boring console games that are babied for a controller, no freedom to the player given, controls suck, AI is dumb. PC exclusives are what PC gamers should be focusing on because it's the only thing that respect their time.
