I find different locations on the string makes HUGE difference in how much noise it dampens!!!

nice vid. I make my own strings and was having issues making a 3 strand Flemish twist. So I started twisting a full cord and back splicing my loops into the string. Makes a good string . and it makes a different looking string. Fun to be different. when I bought my newest bow I made a custom string trying to match the riser for the bow. Now a friend said I should splice the loop with enough back splice to leave the tag ends as the silencers. When I did this I found that the puff balls were not as big as I wanted so I fed some of the extra length from the string and a few extra strands off the spool to create the a thicker puff. Does it work better who knows . I do know it's a on off because takes far to much work to back splice that much line.

Just picked up a recurve and came across your video. Excellent and informative. I have a #30 Hoyt I'm setting up specifically for Pheasant and Grouse. Curious as to the cat tail diameter you have on your bow. Due to my low poundage I'm wondering if 1.5" would be sufficient or would that also be too large?

@@358scout you don’t need much. Small is fine. Too much weight slows down your string
