  • No matter what side of the political divide you’re on, I believe most of us can agree on one thing - Amanda Gorman, the first National Youth Poet Laureate and the youngest person to write and recite a poem at a presidential inauguration STOLE the show and our healing hearts.
Social media went bananas over the rising 22-year-old wordsmith (after her speech, I immediately followed her on Instagram @amandascgorman, which has skyrocketed from one million to 2.7 million followers). My beloved circle of friends and family couldn’t stop chattering about how eloquent, captivating, inspiring and impressed they were with her 2021 Presidential Inauguration speech, “The Hill We Climb.”
There are too many reasons to list why the world fell in love with her words and her story. Here are some thoughts as I had tea and did a little writing and reflecting in my reading nook today.

“We've seen a force that would shatter our nation
    rather than share it”.
    “And the norms and notions
    of what just is
    isn't always just-ice”.
These were the two lines that stuck with me. She is such a breath of fresh air.

Amanda, stop me in my tracks when she called to the podium to read her poem. First I was impressed with her coat, then her beautiful face. Once started the poem I was in awe by enunciation of her words, hand movements and confidence. I love her poem. The way she delivered poem brought to mind Maya Angelou whom I loved to listen too when she recited her poems. This young lady will be a great gift to this country.

Amanda's presentation was such a surprise. Amazingly, the audience became quiet and listened. She captured our attention with what she read and how she read it. This is the sign of a great poet.

Amanda has been described as a supernova. That is an apt descritpion. "Old Soul" doesn't even cover it. The wisdom of the ages is embodied in this young woman. It's like watching MLK or Maya Angelou. But even beyond that. Such power, Presence, confidence, and eloquence. Thank you for your video. :)

The whole presentation was a 10. The songs, the hostess, Biden, Harris and Amanda Gorman with an historic message for humanity. Offering hope, urging activism and sharing much needed love. That was an anointed promise in person.

And also where she says yes we are far from polished far from pristine but that doesn't mean we are striving to form a union that is perfect,we are striving to form a union WITH PURPOSE. GENIUS MIND BLOWING.

Amanda's message was so overpowering for me because it provided much needed relief for a constant build up of anxiety that has been growing for years, particularly the last four. This enormous uneasy feeling seemed to peak on January the 6th up until hearing Amanda's words. It was at that moment that my perspective changed, the anxiety faded away, and hopefulness returned, an amazing feat that not my mother's soothing voice, clergy, friends, or even prayer seemed able to accomplish.

I cannot stop listening to her beautiful and inspirational poem... She IS the Beacon Of Hope, our Lady Liberty... The choas and darkness that we have been in the past 4 years...the level and reminder of Daily hate was sooo toxic!!! Amanda has reminded US that WE the People of the United States, Are United by Our Diversity, that the Construction of this Nation was under the basis that ALL Man IS created EQUAL.... That we are still climbing the hill and cannot quit, until WE complete what Our Forefathers have Declared. That WE, as U remind and empower us...WE must "BE the Light"... Amanda Thank U for your Beautiful GIFT that u bestowed to the NATION ... To the World...I Love U as I Love DR. Maya Angelou. Thank U ...U ARE my HERO💖

i have spent a little time thinking about the phrase, in her poem, "brave enough to see it." I easily realized the validity of that phrase AND how important it is. Many times in our lives and in the life of this nation, we deny reality because we cannot face the truth. Bravery is required for us to see and admit to ourselves what's true when that truth doesn't make you feel well. Many people cannot say (because they don't feel empowered, or because they fear some unfavorable consequences) that the king does not have any clothes on -- like in the children's story. So many of our elected officials will align themselves to an obvious lie, selling their soul, to gain some favor. With this sale they compromise their self-esteem,, self-respect, and their mental health. The sad part is that clear lies can become a permanent delusions if a person or nation cannot become brave enough to face reality. What was the movie -- where Jack Nicholson said, "You can't handle the truth!". Oh I just looked it up -- "A Few Good Men". This is a powerful statement about how we live our lives in denial and with all the inaction that comes with it. I feel that Amanda is saying we can come out of the shade into the light, that we are all capable of seeing if we are brave, and that we can come to understand that if we act well that we have become brave enough to be the light (for others to see, and for our children to grow in).

I was captivated by Amanda's poem because I knew what she is being through after this few years. After you think it all ended we see the insurrection. It hurts our ❤️ to see the White House or the Capitol building being abused and then you think what's next. We have never seen it in this country in our lifetime; it was devastating and hopeless as a black people I knew what was going on with her.

I apologize for not knowing the exact source.

I have been very focused on this political situation and she gave me a dream to look forward to her and our future.
