    I went to 7 falls a few weeks ago. Was dry, but still beautiful. The water flow is supposedly seasonal. I'm amazed at how far people hike. Great video.

      @MoonJuiceHikes  10 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks Mark! Definitely seasonal, however, there is year round water at Hutch’s Pool. It is a bit of a hike to get there, but it’s beautiful all the way.

    Hi MoonJuice! Having hiked the worthy trails in the Santa Catalina Mountains, including all of the trails in your video, my vote for best Tucson hike is this one.
    Another good hike I enjoyed: Ventana Canyon to The Window and Window Peak.
    P.S. I stopped at the base of Thimble Peak too.

      Hey guys! It was really fun meeting you at the Taco Shack. I was pretty thrilled to find some good acoustic covers of some of our favorite songs from the late 80's early 90's (you know, the good 'ol days)! Hope to run into you guys out at SanTan some time.

      Oh, I know what you mean Robert. The nervousness of being alone is part of what makes these adventures exciting. I do love the solitude...but really enjoy running into like-minded people. Nice to have an instant connection with strangers.

      @@MoonJuiceHikes Thank you for your responses. It is interesting that when I am most alone is when I find myself thinking about almost nothing except the trail and my surroundings. It’s a very centering experience.

      @@MoonJuiceHikes It's really hard to top the amazing loop you just did, especially when the waterfalls are really going. One day hike worth noting down here is Wasson Peak, the highest point of the Tucson Mountains. The most popular way up is King Canyon Trail, but you'll encounter the largest number of people on that one. Trailhead parking can also be tough at peak times. My favorite (and I think easiest and quietest) way up is the Sendero Esperanza Trail to the Hugh Norris Trail junction. There's even a restroom at that trailhead. But for the full experience, I'd recommend the Hugh Norris Trail itself from its own trailhead simply to check it off your list. Parking can be tight and the 700+ "stairs" at its start will make you sorry you took my suggestion, but it is probably the flagship trail on the west side of town. And the views are incredible. Another great day hike is just south of town in the Santa Rita Mountains. From Madera Canyon, head up the Old Baldy Trail either to the Josephine Saddle or all the way up to Mt Wrightson itself (which is actually a few hundred feet higher in elevation that Mt Lemmon in the Catalinas) and back down the more gradual (easier on the knees) Super Trail for a very worthwhile loop. Look for the memorial signs near the saddle where some boy scouts died during a winter storm some years back. Plenty of parking with restrooms at both trailheads, which are just a five minute walk apart from one another.

    • @MoonJuiceHikes
      @MoonJuiceHikes  Год назад

      @@jmdazsol I definitely want to spend some more time around Wrightson...really enjoyed going through there on the AZT (and Patagonia was cool too). Adding that one to my to-do list. Thanks!

      That was in late February. It’s 100 degrees now, which would make this a much different hike today. Check out the Highline Trail video. Just did it again last weekend and all the creeks are flowing, heat is much more tolerable in the higher elevations.

      I’m wondering what places near Tucson are way better? I’d like to go. I’ve only been through Mt. Lemmon, the Rincons and Mica, and Mt. Wrightson. I think the Pusch Wilderness and Sabino Canyon is the most beautiful area near Tucson, but I haven’t been on every trail in the area.
