This soup recipe is wonderful! I just made it, but I added 1 minced clove of garlic while cooking the tomatoes and onion. Very yummy as is!
😂😂😂 Garlic cloves not actual cloves. Who’s the genius that messed that up?
I fucking love how something this healthy and this good can be this simple to make.
I agree with anyone else that says this is the best Fresh Tomato Soup Recipe EVER! Good going Charlotte
I made this soup. Very easy, very good.
Just made this, it was very testy, i just add little garlic in it.thanks for this easy recipe. ;-))
Looks like this recipe got some great reviews!! Awesome. Can you can this recipe? (The initial one?)
I've taken this recipe and manipulated it a bit to make it my own. :)

Yummy!
can this be frozen in small bar jars after?
Why not, dsl814007? Sounds like a practical idea. Are you thinking one serving per jar?

What if I Dont have the tool turner
Why add rue it was already thick enough
What can we use instead of chicken broth?
Or vegetable broth
Water or vegetable broth are both acceptable substitutes, Halle Vasque.
another kind of broth milk water red wine get creative!
How much does this yield?
6 servings
surprised no seasons like oregano
The only reason I want to make my own tomato soup is because the ones I find in the can are always too sweet. The sugar ruins it for me. And we eat so much sugar in every canned product that I wish they would stop adding sugar. That’s why Americans are so Overweight. And why do people add sugar to cornbread. I will never figure that out. Tomato soup and cornbread should be savory; not sweet. ❤
what if I have no chicken broth....will water be alright?
maybe water and chicken bouillon? I always do this and it turns out good.
Just a heads up, the complete research shows that the mono-unsat. oils are NOT more healthy. While they do adjust the HLD/LDL ratios, the rate of progression of coronary disease is Exactly the same. Ouch! Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn explains the details & studies (Ridell, Vogel, Ong) in the clinically vetted presentation "Make Yourself Heart Attack Proof" There is plenty of oil in the whole plant foods. Thus some relatively small adjustments can render substantial health benefits. Thx.
Tomatoes have sugar in them. Onions have so much that they can be caramelized. Yet there is added sugar. Can anyone say diabetes? I'm a foodie. I love the tastes and textures of fresh food. Added sugars and sometimes too much added salt just hides those flavors. A touch of salt can enhance flavors, a touch. I'd rather have the sugar inI a cannoli.
didn't read lol.
EW
cloves of heroin, I suspect...
It was horrible , why do I even try to cook😪
So sorry about that, angel lover. No fun, especially if you're hungry! Did you analyze what might have happened? Let us know and we'll try to help sort things out.
I had to send a message, I love tomato - basil soup and this recipe looked great. I had fresh tomatoes and used about 10 lbs to make a large pot. Everything went as planned and the "stick blender" is a real time saver in getting the tomatoes and everything else blended. I did add about 1/3 cup fresh basil chopped small in the last 15 minutes of simmering along with 1/2 quart of heavy cream. I WAS IN HEAVEN when I took a taste !!!! You have to try this recipe as it is the absolute best and you will never go back to canned tomato soup again, Thanks !!!
i made this, it was amazing and the family will no longer eat canned soup ever again lol
Made this, but didn’t add the rue or clove. My gosh it was delicious! I didn’t expect it to be so flavourful! I added the tiniest of chilli just for that little bit of extra heat
Cloves...They're a spice unto themselves. Sometimes you'll hear people talk about a clove of garlic, but that's not what she's talking about here. Cloves are actually dried up flower buds.
Where's my grilled cheese sandwich!!!?? :)
4 CLOVES INSIDE TOMATOE SOUP?????? DISCUSTING
4 GARLIC CLOVES INSTEAD OF THOSE , YES!!!
I just made this soup. YUM!! Tomatoes out of our yard and the onions too. I'm so proud! lol!! Thank you for this recipe.
Woo! We're proud of you too, Kathy Immel! Congratulations! Keeping a garden is a lot of hard work, but oh, so rewarding.
Thanks you guys!! Awesome tasting soup! I added a couple sprinkles of Parmessan cheese (wish I grew that! Lol)

I think this is the best recipe I have ever made in 14 years... AMAZING. Highly recommend it to everyone else
So happy you liked the soup - thank you for letting us know.
We're so pleased you like this recipe, andini andien!
Can we use Vegetable broth instead of chicken broth?
Yes, of course, zeeshan ali. Enjoy your soup!
Don’t add the cloves, it kinda gives it a weird taste, substitute it for a clove of minced garlic instead ! :)
I made it two times. It was delicious! I added some sautéed carrots, onions and celery for texture. And tortellini made it extra good.
Garlic or cloves? You show gloves, but the website says garlic.. 🤦♀️
Skip the sugar and the flour (cook it down until you have the thickness you like) and add some oregano and you will get somewhere! A fresh tomato soup does not have to have 10,000 calories. LOL
Did you keep in the whole cloves?
That's a great idea to add potatoes into the soup. You can peel, dice, and simmer potatoes separately and then add them to the soup, at the end, to reheat. Let us know how the soup tastes for you! Happy cooking.
Wouldn't it be better to use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock? What about the seeds, how do I get rid of them? I ask because in your video I didn't see any seeds when you was using the blender.
Bit late to the party but, Thank You SO much for this recipe. First reasonable recipe
I've found that doesn't start off with "Canned, Store bought Tomato's"
Your process for cooking Tomato's down, skin on, adds nutrients and naturally helps
thicken the sauce from the start. Take out the onions and food milling it is exactly our
base sauce! The Tomato Rue is genius. We grow our own garlic, onions, and Tomato's,
So, add flour and butter, and chicken broth, (we all have that).............. Voila
Look for them in your grocery store or in a specialty store. They can also be ordered on line. Good luck.
Thank you for your question. We provide nutritional information for this recipe on our site. Enjoy!
This recipe is a game-changer! Spending just 45 minutes for a homemade tomato soup is absolutely worth it. I'm a big tomato soup aficionado, and not long ago, I made a veggie soup with roasted tomatoes. The roux addition for thickening is genius. Can't wait to top mine with some fresh basil and dive in. Thanks for sharing this delightful treat!👍👍👍
Thank you for your question. The soup needs to cook so that the vegetables completely soften up and can puree easily. If you prefer a chunkier soup, you can certainly cook it for a shorter period. Once you add the roux, you should cook the soup for a while to make sure the taste of flour is cooked out. Enjoy!
turned out amazing...restaurant quality!
Thank you for your comment. You can definitely try using vegetable or olive oil instead of butter in this recipe and cut down the amount to 1 tablespoon. Happy cooking!
Thanks for your question. The sugar in this recipe is used to balance the acidity of the tomato.
"gradually whisk in one ladle of the tomato mixture -dumps whole thing in at once-"
lol
I watched that bit as I read ur comment
Watch again. She did add a ladle of the soup mixture into the roux, stirred it then poured the roux mixture into the tomato soup.
Yes, absolutely, you can use a sugar substitute. You might start with a little bit less than 2 teaspoons and add more as needed. Happy cooking!
Looks good, wonder if it could go good with grilled cheese sandwichs
Thank you for your recipe.
One of the most eastiest soup...
Cool. I’ve grown so many tomatoes this year I wanted to try making my own soup. I've now made this soup and it was amazingly delicious.
Thank You.
This the Best Ever...
Just made this an hour ago. It was awesome! Way better than that shit that comes out of a can. However I did add a whole head of garlic to it.
This recipe is just what I was looking for to use up some very ripe tomatoes. Some were the last of my home crop and some were store bought. I used the immersion blender method to smooth the soup. It worked pretty well, and was certainly easy (careful not to splash!) though there were some skin bits left behind. I might simply need to blend it for longer, or maybe use the Ninja blender, being careful not to create a heat bomb. (Yes, I have cleaned the kitchen ceiling due to mishaps of that nature!)
I added a cup of half and half at the very end, because I like creamy tomato soup best. The salt needed to be upped a bit to compensate. I also added a dash of allspice; not enough to notice, just enough for a warm complexity. Paired with grilled cheese, it had Hubby mmmmm-ing with pleasure. It really was delicious. Win!
Many variations could be imagined using this excellent recipe as a base. Thanks a bunch!
Quarrentine got us all cookin
I just bought a kilogram of fresh tomatoes from our local farmer and was looking for recipes on what to do with them. :) I’ve decided to make this since I already have all the ingredients. :) Thanks for this!
I made this and it was FUCKING DISGUSTINGLY GROSS the clove total is a sick taste I remade it with no clove and it tastes just right like it should the clove should never never never never be added it made my family sick the hole next day the batch I made with no clove tastes amazing
Can I use stock cubes?
You lost me on chicken broth.
Amazing soup! I added a little bit of basil pesto. I love the creamy, and the fresh taste very great recipe.

Making this today. Need to use up those tomatoes. Best Recipe I've found.💥
And add chicken. 😋
I love tomato soup but its difficult to obtain without all of the dairy. Very easy recipie to prepare.
I DONT have a fucking blender or mixer fml
Why does everyone always want to change someones recipe.. so annoying... This is her own & I happen to love it Get your own youtube version and go from there... LOL... I made this and didn't change a thing.. It was delicious...
omg! That drives me nuts too! I'll see a recipe and scroll down to read comments to see reviews on how it tasted, and it seems like every person says "Well I added this..and that.." so I don't even get a review of how the basic recipe tasted. It's always fun to add your own thing to the basic recipe..but yes, it drives me nuts too. Glad to see you liked it! Did you ever try the other version?
is it possible to use a sweetener like Stevia or Agave to the recipe?
I just made this un under an hour and I had a hard time with the rue, or whatever its called. BUT IT CAME OUT AMAZING!!!! WOOT!
Good for you, See_Ed_Run! Glad you like the soup. Practice a little on making the roux--it gets easier!--and you'll be a real rock star in the kitchen.
Hi Ed, did you use 4 whole cloves? I am not sure I would like to taste that much clove in the soup?
See_Ed_Run did it get u laid
this style is a bit different is this a real way to make tomato soup??????
i made this, it was amazing and the family will no longer eat canned soup ever again lol
😋I love to try homemade tomato soup, normally I have confess my mother and I brought readymade powder soup than real homemade,so what is suitable homemade soup or readymade powder soup? What did u think and suggest the best option?
I think whatever suits your circumstances e.g. availability, finances, tastes, cooking utensils, kitchen skills, etc etc etc.
I've been reading the comments and it looks like the homemade soup is winning. Good luck my friend.
Could anyone tell me if I can use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock? Also in her video I didn't see any seeds when she was using the blender, how do I get rid of them if it's necessary?
You can certainly use vegetable stock
Link is not available to print off the recipe!!!
I made this today and it was delicious. Thank you
I used beef broth and it came out delicious.
tasty tomato soup....Women cooking more tasty
This is gross, it taste like union and chicken juice
I just made this and taste so delicious :9 thank you for the recipe ^^
I’m sorry but that sounds so bland...
Delicious 😋 dinner tonight thx
This was delicious. If I make it again I will probably only use two cloves instead of four. I also used a gluten free flour and coconut sugar instead of white refined sugar.
it was really good but i think i am only going to put two whole clovs in next time i did not realize how strong the flavor was i am so going to keep making this i am never going back to caned tomato soup again
Not bad.It had a little to much clove flavor in my opinion.Next time i'll only add two.Added pepper and garlic ,and it tasted a little better.
um the ad is for veggies creepy
I made this soup too and followed it to the "T" and it tasted like crap!!! I will find another recipe ...
It came out great! Added some fresh green basil, delicious!

nice slicing tomato by cheese knife lol
I just made this and it was delicious! 😁
I ordered some soup the other day from a diner close to where I live and found the lid of the can in my bowl. Thats the last time I eat there.
lol, reminds of that scene in one of the Vacation movies.
Ew. ..lol
@@nirosikkema3443 Not home made thats for sure
Its natural love it.. But too much ingredients.. Try someday
I noticed that the tomatoes were not skinned?
adds texture i guess
Great receipt!
Just tried at dinner, it was so nice!
Agave is simply fructose (think soft drinks) with a fancy label that is metabolized by the liver. Simply use a small amount of fruit if needed. Just be aware, all sugar (glucose, dextrose, sucrose, fructose, etc.) use should be moderated.
Everyone uses Basil but I think coriander works better!
I want to make this a tomato soup but i want to add some potatoes to it,do i cook them in microwave first then add them?
