    I was reading an interview with James Hetfield and he uses the two finger grip extensively. If he uses it and you use it, there's no shame in it :)
    Thanks, Lauren. I love your teaching style and your taste in cars and electric guitars 👍 kudos from a transplanted New Englander!

    Ahhhhh...this is the breath of fresh air that I really needed. I never even thought of the 2 finger pick grip before & I will definitely give that a try. Thank You Lauren for posting this, which is something that I really need to know!

    For those of us occasionally doing woodworking, you can take a small piece of sticky back fine sandpaper and put that on the meat of the pick. The new Dunlop Ultex picks seem less "slippery".

    I use a small amount of 'Simply Tacky' and stick the pick to my index finger. Don't use Dap BlueStik as it sticks too well. With ST the pick will stay stuck to your finger even if you take your thumb off of it, so you can thumb pick instead of hybrid picking if you want. You'll never have to worry about the pick shifting position again. I am amazed that nobody to my knowledge has ever posted this idea before.

    I am glad you mentioned the Dunlop Maxi grip.l love this pick and use it most of the time. Great grip.l avoid using the smooth picks as they slide around too much in my fingers. The other one I like is a German made pick Herdim, which has a triangle shape and three different gauge corners.

    Thanks for the awesome tips. funny I found this video as I was just complaining to my my wife that I can't keep the damn guitar pick in my hand. I was strumming your down down up down up pattern to stand by me lwhen my pick flew out of my fingers and landed in the hole and my guitar took me 10 minutes to get the damn thing out.

    Lauren, you have a great way to explain things. This is a clarifying way of explaining how to hold a pick. I have a request for a tutorial. I have just happened to get an electric guitar (Ibanez) and an amp. I don’t know much about starting out to set the guitar controls and the amplifier(Fishman). I think you are one that makes things clear for us no nothings. Could you have a tutorial on thin?

    Good tips but the best tip is....... accept it! You can do everything you can to minimise it, but its going to happen and chances are it's going to fall into the soundhole in the middle of a gig - so have spares !
    I have a duplicate pickguard stuck over the original guard on my main guitar with the sticky backing covered on the bottom inch or so, so I can have 2 or three spares tucked in there easily in reach for when it inevitably pings across the room.
    Oh yes, and Dulop Ultex - great picks, horrible colour than blends perfectly into any and every pub carpet ever manufactured !

    • @LaurenBateman
      @LaurenBateman  3 года назад

      Oh it still happens to me 20 years later, but for some people a small adjustment goes a long way.

    As a teenager I didn´t have any issues with this, but after 40+ years of fingerpicking I constantly drop the pick, whenever I occasionally try a bit of strumming. I was also self taught for several years, by the way.

      You may want to use a larger sized pick or a Dunlop max grip. Both are easier to hold on to for weaker hands.
