- Welcome back to the ultimate track guide series. This week we are at Laguna - such a technical track and run in the heat a lot of the time (40c+ sometimes!) and really difficult to get into any sort of groove round here as the second half of the track comes at you thick and fast. We dive into the do's and don'ts.
Setup should be released on Setsbase on the link below shortly, think some issues with the submission but it will be up there very soon.
Temps, as always, 25c air, 30c track hitting 1.21.9/1.22.0.
Let me know your thoughts, comments and how you get on, on track!
I’ve watched a few track guides and frankly you’re way ahead in terms of detail, simplicity, and encouragement. Thank you.
Craig - thanks for this comment, it means a lot!
@@Zermatt1 doesn’t mean I get anywhere near your times, but at least I know how I should be doing it!
@@Zermatt1 Agreed with Craig. I've been watching a lot of guides and this is the best in terms of detail and simplicity.
Lovely to see a track guide that uses mph! All us Americans thank you!
Another excellent track guide mate, great content, really useful. With a combination of your guide and a lot of practice, I managed to trim 1.7s off absolute pace, and running consistently 1.4s faster in race pace at 44c track temp in the Boatley. I still have another 1.5s to find but what was most useful in this guide was your tip for the visual marker on the wall for where to start turning for that awkward left kink up the hill towards the corkscrew. I can't get it right every time but at least I know now what I am supposed to be doing ;)
These guides are invaluable to sim racing noobs like me, especially for throttle application at apexes, and how to use the throttle to get these GT3 cars to rotate. Again, still massive amounts to learn and improve, but I can practice with method now, so much gratitude again.
On to more tracks and more of your guides!
Hey man this is an awesome comment, thanks for this. Your words describe exactly why this channel was set up, and the feeling I want people (and me!) to have after putting in some graft, taking the notes I have and getting them down on track. Keep up the hard work, on to the next track!!
Love your track guides! Managed to go from a 1:28 to a low 1:24 after looking at this track guide! Keep up the good work!
Hey man that’s awesome! That’s such a massive improvement!!
Thanks, your track guide and your detailed explanations help me a lot!
Glad to hear that! Hopefully some even more detailed ones next year as the channel starts to evolve as well! Let me know how you get on on the track!
Another great guide! Thanks!
U said hi guys so damn fast at the start😂😂
Savage as usual nice one mate!
Keeping you on your toes, Hydra :)
@@Zermatt1 thanks love😘
Very nice, new subscriber here and I’ll utilize your instruction soon as I have a wheel coming for Christmas. I’m so stoked to play this game, only played it a few times with a controller and decided to wait till I have a wheel so as I won’t develop bad habits. Plus it’s atrocious with stock settings on controller and didn’t want to waste a ton of time for something I wouldn’t be using in future. Truck sim it is until Christmas. Peace.
Great! Get yourself in the discord and get involved starting to learn the tips and tricks on ACC! It's definitely worth the wait!
@@Zermatt1 I’ll check it out. Never used discord but first time for everything. Thanks mate.
@@Zermatt1 hey brother, question for you. I have only the basic ACC with zero of the dlc. Which DLC would you opt for in precedence if I have to do them in stages? Thanks for help.
I think it’s expected everyone have kyalami and some of the other dlc tracks so I would get that international pack first. If you like imola then get that one and worry about Gt4 later unless you have a particular love for gt4.
Nice and early im watching this vid (9 am)...
Morning!
Beautiful buddy! 👍
Thanks 👍
Great guide as usual. What do you use as a brake marker if the 2 board gets destroyed on the final corner ? Thank you.
Hope!
No, if you pause the clip at 13:27 you can see a slightly lighter grey marking on the wall, it's quite far away but you can use it as a reference until you just get the feel of when to brake! Not ideal but it's something.
@@Zermatt1 I know you don´t like to look to the left but i was using the beginning of the sand on the left. Thank you.
@@andreafonso8750 Will check this out! Looking left is tough! haha
@@Zermatt1 Very true. it feels unnatural.
Great videos. I am currently low 1.23s in qualy but would like to get low 1.22s… what is a good race pace around here? Currently high 1.23s with full tank. Could use some more front end to cure understeer into the corners but finding that it makes me unstable through corkscrew; catch 22 situation.
Hey Lom - 1.23's aren't slow at all round here on race pacee, I guess 22's are where you need to be eventually. Might seem counter intuitive but if you are searching for the front end just on corner entry, then try RAISING your front ARB, this will give the car more responsiveness.
Let me know..
@@Zermatt1 I ended up keeping the setup the same because it felt really good around 90% of the lap… did a bit more work on my car positioning and corner entry. One of the biggest mistakes I seemed to be making was downshifting one too many gears, which seemed to unsettle the car on entry and scrub a load of corner speed off for good measure… long story short I managed to clock a 1.21.9 in my league’s qualifying session so very happy. Thanks again for the great videos!
Great guide mate. Really like these videos. Just curious about set, would you say with few short straits this is more a grip/aero track then high speed up the 3 hill straits? 🍻
Yeah 100% grip based. The speed you can carry out of the corners really does outweigh the 2/3 mph you might get on the main straight.
@@Zermatt1 thanks m8!
Love your videos, one question: if you say brake at a certain marker is that when you see the marker or brake if the marker is more of less by your front wheels?
Yep when the front reaches that point 👍
@@Zermatt1 Ok I thougt hit the brakes when you see the marker, but you should brake somewhat later then
Most of the time it’s when the front hits that marker .... sometimes I’ll say when it goes out of vision or something to aim for depending on the track.....
Do you still have this track setup? I tried the link but it said it was no longer valid. I just finished my first sim rig and with Laguna being my home track, I'm dying to get pointers like this and an ideal setup to feel. Cheers!
Should be on sets base still yes, maybe just search Laguna
nice one👌🏻
Thanks ✌️
One more good guide, thanks!
No problem!
