I’ve been watching you for years at this point. I couldn’t even drive myself out into the woods when I started building kits and setups. Love your videos and the information you provide, God bless brother
Fantastic breakdown of much of the Pathfinder cooking gear and the thought process that went into creating these systems. I think it is so awesome that SRO has been able to preserve so many great designs from history, reproducing them in quality materials and workmanship and making them widely available to the woodsman of today. Truly “Inspired by the Past!” The new system being put together with the grill pouch, grills, hangers and legs is so versatile. That is a really nice addition to add so many cooking options.
Dave, you are the kook kit king!😂 I am addicted to cook kits and have many items you sell already. You have given me some great ideas. I find it fun to build my own set-ups, because it is so cool to have a kit that I can keep in my vehicle that encompasses everything I need when I’m on the road or go car camping. Thank you for sharing all this with us. Now you’re going to get more of my money!😅
I’d love to see how well a trangia 25 or 27 fits together with PF/SRO gear. If it will nest well that’s just ANOTHER great selling point, especially now they have a stainless variant for their pots and pans.
Hey Dave, I simply love the way you have produced the various cook systems. I have an old nesting cook set that I purchased from, I think K-mart about 50 years ago. It was always just adequate at best. The best thing about it was the nesting capability. It's aluminum, of course, and I'd rather use stainless steel. I have purchased some of your gear and love all of it. I love your videos and the way you develop gear. You have a great way of explaining things, and you're a wealth of knowledge. Keep up the great work, young man, and God bless you and your family.
Thanks for the video it's awesome to see what we could use I have gear but there's always good ideas out and I seem to get lots of them from the videos so I just wanted to say thanks and love watching the videos with my little guy 🎉
So dave I have to tell you you're cook kits are the best. I put together the larger type kit with the 3 quart pot etc along with the large rack and kept 7 people fed kayaking 3 days and 2 nights. Cooked breakfast and dinner each day. We did sous vide BBQ brisket the first night, made goulash the second night. Cooked some fresh caught catfish, eggs, bacon, oatmeal, etc. It was the absolute perfect kit for that trip!
I appreciate you always acknowledging your inspiration. Never once have I felt like you were selling me a piece of kit you claimed to be your own. I've been watching your channel since before the yurt days. You've been saying your kits have been done in some fashion before, give or take a few mods here and there. We're not just paying for the items or the brand. But also the legit R&D that's gone into these items. Thank you
I love that you use different kinds of gear. Yes, you'll use SRO branded stuff a lot, but you don't really push it you just say it's there if we want it. But you'll also use "Amazon special" type gear or stuff from a antique mall as well
Just ordered the Pathfinder French Press Pantry, can't wait to get it, better yet, can't wait to try it out! Never disappointed with any purchases from SRO!
The options are endless. You're so right. Everyone is going to have different needs and opinions on their kit. I can't think of a item I would need that you don't offer. Thanks for sharing.
Somehow this video came out at the perfect time. I’ve been researching mess kits for weeks now and haven’t been able to find anything particularly impressive. I am designing one that will satisfy many of the guidelines you lay out in this video!
Love the videos, just getting started in my bushcraft journey. How do we feel about collapsible silicone bowls? Obviously not super multifunction, but they are lightweight, have lids, and are quite compact for the depth of bowl you can get... I also imagine you could cook something like ramen in them, just pour in some boiling water and put the lid on. I have no idea around their longevity however, and obviously you don't want to use sharp cutlery in them.
🇺🇸🙋♀️🎄🎑 Great cook sets! I personally like stainless steel instead of aluminum. I really love the idea of putting a bigger pot on it side like you did, to bake things! You taught me something new! 😁
Love your functional set ups Dave. Best cook set, your canteen cook set & bag, rear pocket fits a cutting board and Amazon Kindle, 100grm butane can, canteen cup and bottle, front pocket takes a 360 degrees furno stove with heaps of room for coffee/tea lighter and MREs 👍
I am waiting for you to remake the vintage one you showed a few weeks back in stainless. A canteen, two plates(skillet) & cup is pretty much the cats meow..!
Well done, as usual. Pretty sure you've already started drawing it up, but...... French press, cup, stove, bag ..... Yada, yada....any thoughts on how/what to stack.... Appreciate what is already on my shelf...Keep doing what ya do !! Tha
Others sell one-offs and limited edition pieces while Dave creates heirloom cookware that not only will last you a lifetime, but that can be integrated into his other systems. The modularity of Dave's cookware is unrivaled. As always, while others make lemonade with the lemons they get, Dave makes a lemonade stand.
So in my 2 quart bushpot I have the cutting board, the titanium skillet, a stainless bowl with a silicone one i got from Amazon a long time ago that the top edge folds around the bowl giving me two basically. Plus I still have a little room to jam some stuff in the bowl and can still put the lid on it!
Great video. As usual I got some fresh ideas I hadn't thought of. By the way I love the carbon skillet. I use it almost everyday. I 2 new york strip steaks in it yesterday using avocado oil.
I find that PF MOLLE Pouch to be the absolute best solution for a self-contained cook kit bag AND a PSK. I keep a 5X7' tarp & emergency poncho in it and a whole slew of emergency gear (PFAK, fire kit, food, 80' of bankline, knife sharpener, a multitool, ammo, water purification tablets, etc...).
Will the SS Bottles or Canteens still last a lifetime if you continually boil water in them? I want to use mine to boil water but i feel it will weaken them, but I was thinking if I only used a smaller fire or ashed over coals that would let them last longer.
Dave, which windscreen did you have in the second Molle bag? I like that ots short and will probably fit in my little bag I keep my alcohol stove kit in
.. Always a good time messing with the modern mess kit .... Started my hiking and camping gear assortments in the '60's in scouting ,, We had a nesting mess kit that did the job ,, covered all bases ... Have mixed and matched many pieces over the years , with different materials but still just pack what's needed nothing fancy ,, nothing more ...
This guy is brilliant! Dave, does your "operational tempo" drive your wife crazy?! I mean for years now, one great thought, idea, practice, habit, after another!
Dave can you do a video like this, but with items that would be helpful for a group of people, 6 or more, not just the individual? Scenario would be a family situation with children or a group of friends. Not just group camping, but maybe a situation where someone is experienced, like yourself, and has others with them that are not experienced and is required to provide food and shelter both for pleasure and survival situations. Please extend it to all aspects, hunting, trapping, cooking, navigation, etc.
Do you have a UK partner distributor? Shipping, taxes etc are often more than the item. I've seen some Path Finders stuff on Amazon UK but show out of stock, but again taxes and shipping. It would be great if you had someone to stock your gear here.
Good job I think I have good kit for one person you will like my pan my special small wood stove may I try to made a video on RUclips but go see the teepe I made a stove that I design all it is my opinion I 72 and raise a family of 7 children’s in north BC and Yukon Even I delivered my son in the winter in wall ten Talking off cubin fibre I used it for many years deenema today do not good for for abrasion And have memory of the fold I used a tarp that was ok but for pot bag gun scabbard not good if interested I can made a small video Thank you lots of good ideas

You know what I love about Dave...unlike a former protege, he doesn't talk DOWN to his subscribers.

My friend it is so nice to see that you are still doing it, you are still out there bushcrafting even after all those years :)
Your brain never slows down does it Dave! Good stuff!!
Im so amazed by this guy u can tell he is doing bushcraft cooking for a long time, nice video very informative thank u
My favorite place to nerd out on survival. Lived knowledge!
I had one cool nesting type set up that packed neatly in a canvas bag... then DC and SRO shows up, now I need a trailer for all my great kit!!
Everytime my interest is peaked about something I open youtube and Dave comes out with a new video on it! It's like he's watching 🤔😆
Thanks Dave. It helps a lot to see this. Btw which size was that Eagle kettle? Looked like the small one. Was about to buy one.
This was a great video. Your camping info are very useful. Looking forward to your next video.

Awesome vid of some great well thought out gear, cheers Dave. Love my bottle/cup set and 2qt bushpot. That big grill rack at the end is brilliant
Dave, have you looked at maybe selling a stainless steel basket that fits into the 120oz bush pot for the ability to do a low country boil?
Not a bad idea buddy
I’d love to see how well a trangia 25 or 27 fits together with PF/SRO gear.
If it will nest well that’s just ANOTHER great selling point, especially now they have a stainless variant for their pots and pans.
Thanks for sharing and expanding the engineering mindset, Legend. Always learn great concepts from your content

This was a fantastic review. I was thinking about these very things. Thanks Dave.
Always good to list to you Dave. You have continually improved products and thought things out well
Great info, Dave. Love the thought that went into this system!
Really loving your videos. Learning a lot for them

That’s exactly what I envisioned it being used for in the field!
Amazing video again. Is the big outdoor grill rack going to be on your Amazon store?

Just ordered the Pathfinder French Press Pantry, can't wait to get it, better yet, can't wait to try it out! Never disappointed with any purchases from SRO!
Very informative video thanks for sharing your insights
I have an old Swiss mess kit that I’ve had for about 35 years now. It’s still solid and serves me well. 😎😎😎 great design. 👍🏻
The options are endless. You're so right. Everyone is going to have different needs and opinions on their kit. I can't think of a item I would need that you don't offer. Thanks for sharing.
Dave is the king
Very innovative. Good job
Nice. Love Pathfinder gear, It's well thought out and rugged.

Great stuff Dave, do you know when the carbon steel skillets will be back in stock?
End of March
Hurry up and get those high carbon skillets back in stock, Dave, lol... Can't wait to try one!
Thanks Dave

I need to start picking stuff up from sro. Your gear never disappoints.
Dave can you show what you do to clean all this stuff in the field? That's one thing I haven't perfected yet
Dave check out the Liviri shipping coolers. They look promising for things like over landing cooler alternative.
PM40 is fantastic, I've baked a Cornish hen in it!
I see those zipper cots in the back, how are you liking those? I have one I have used a few times. Not a bad little cot for the price
Another great video. I love your woobie beanie. Where dod you get it?
It a Down Skullie will be available with the quillow soon
Superb equipment line up dave .
Your carbon steel skillet is No.1 in the world . Way superior to others .
Great quality.
Love the huge grill stand.
Dave, will that beanie be on your website, i need a few of those.
Yes at the same time as the Quillow
DAVE!! you need to replicate that grater!!
Dp.your canisters for the packers pantry fit in the 1 qt bushpot

I see some more cook kits I need to buy!
Will the SS Bottles or Canteens still last a lifetime if you continually boil water in them? I want to use mine to boil water but i feel it will weaken them, but I was thinking if I only used a smaller fire or ashed over coals that would let them last longer.
Makes me wonder what happened to the multi fuel stove
Quality issues that went un answered at the factory
Dave are you going to revamp or redesign the Pathfinder kettle to make it more compatible with the kits you offer?
harvey the bucket makes his return!
Dave, which windscreen did you have in the second Molle bag? I like that ots short and will probably fit in my little bag I keep my alcohol stove kit in
Our large windscreen on the website

A silicone ranger band would complement the pot grabbers to hold them closed if you worry about your grip strength or have arthritis.
You couldn't have had this vid out over the weekend?? I spent all weekend going through different cook systems trying to switch it up lol
This guy is brilliant! Dave, does your "operational tempo" drive your wife crazy?! I mean for years now, one great thought, idea, practice, habit, after another!

Can I have a link to your Etsy store? I can't find it.
Vintage Camp and Trail
Do you have a UK partner distributor? Shipping, taxes etc are often more than the item. I've seen some Path Finders stuff on Amazon UK but show out of stock, but again taxes and shipping. It would be great if you had someone to stock your gear here.
I’ll be working on that at the Bushcraft Show this year. We do have a distributor in Germany. Info is listed on our website
Someone needs to import those Eagle kettles into the US, almost impossible to find them.
Interesting cap there Dave.
I just carry a small pot and an Ome Daiber cup ( and a spork).
Yup, this guy is correct. Bottom line, get it together and get out there.
👍
👍👍
👍👍👍
Nestability =]
Good job I think I have good kit for one person you will like my pan my special small wood stove may I try to made a video on RUclips but go see the teepe I made a stove that I design all it is my opinion I 72 and raise a family of 7 children’s in north BC and Yukon
