Voguing is a style of dance that originated in the ballroom scene of New York City in the 1980s. It is characterized by its angular, stylized poses and fluid arm and hand movements. Vogue dancers, also known as voguers, perform voguing on a voguing runway or vogue runway, showcasing their skills in a variety of voguing dances.
Voguing has since expanded beyond the ballroom scene, with voguing competitions and battles taking place around the world. Voguing femme, or voguing performed
Thanks to the rise of social media platforms like RUclips and TikTok, voguing dance videos have become increasingly popular, with voguing dancers sharing their performances and competing in online dance competitions. Voguing battles, or voguing competitions between individual voguers or teams, have become a staple of the voguing community.
Whether performed in a ballroom or on a dance floor, voguing is a dynamic and expressive style of dance that continues to evolve and captivate audiences around the world.

This is a part of gay culture that I’ve never personally experienced but have been fascinated by for so long. This gives me LIFE!!!!
Same here. I wud rather watch these than the drag shows lip synching...
Same
For reals. We should experience this and make a RUclips video about it.
It's an experience that I highly recommend. I can still remember attending my 1st ball in the mid 90's, The Latex Ball in NYC. I was like a kid in a candy store. I was completely mesmerized by all the beautiful transgender women, the butch queens going at it voguing, the fashion etc etc. It made such an impact on me that I had to find a way to be part of the ballroom scene. Bruh, when I tell you I started hanging out in Christopher Street in NYC everyday of the week, started meeting people, then clubbing from Wednesday till Sunday. I finally became part of The House of Infiniti snatched a couple of trophies in NYC and Philly. In person you just feel that energy that will make you want to be part of the ballroom culture.
SAME!
Voguing is such a spectacular cultural development. The fierceness, the unity, the fun, the comedy, the competitiveness, the skills!!!! etc. it’s all such an amazing mix
Yeah, voguers is the US are laughing at this lame sh*t.
This should be an Olympic sport. The athleticism and style is off the charts
i dont wanna see straigth people doing it.
@@juanduarte1534 They had Daniel Radcliffe play a gay character in some show recently. Yes, the guy who did Harry Potter.. And they had him do Vogue and it was ABYSMAL. He looked like he was doing some kind of robot dance or having a seizure. It’s nice he isn’t afraid to play gay I guess but they didn’t need to have this nerdy lil British guy try to do that, lmao they should have known they were setting him up for embarrassment. Idk if they wanted it to be comedy or not, maybe lol
Hell nah
@@juanduarte1534 straight people do it, idk wtf you are talking about, the male figure vogue fem includes butch queen, butch women and cis male, female figure includes drag queens, trans women and cis women. Saying "I dont want x group to do this" is the most idiotic thing you could ever say, it is not about the gender it is about the art of the performance.
This is watered-down sh*t. The US is where it's at.
13:00 The compassion that lady in black showed the dancer who's wig came off during their performance when she came over to give some emotional support made me tear up a bit! No one likes to be embarrassed...that showed such a kind heart!

What I find interesting that they doing same style of voguing back in the early 90s.
The only difference is faces change but the pattern stay the same.
I gotta give it to the young generation you guys are keeping it alive.
Ballroom has kept a lot of the same elements alive (i.e: voguing, duck walking, floors how, dipping/spinning, etc) 💪 it's such a beautiful part of our culture and the LBGTQIA+ community! 💗✌️
i actually enjoyed him giving a lil good education on the categories instead of reading her this is how i think it should be done kudos
Seems like there’s positivity and encouragement. I don’t quite understand why that dancer couldn’t walk though for butch queen. I was getting both butch and femme from that queen. But I don’t know much about this culture. Would someone explain? Difficult to hear the explanation in this clip
I swear I Love Jack so much. It wasn’t shady at the beginning it was truth. A lot of other important ballroom figures should take notes. You DONT have to belittle someone to get your point across!
Why didn't that person get to do the walk? I was trying to listen, but I couldn't quite catch the explanation.
@@shichigatsu13 me too
1TonCat You have to look the part of the category to walk it, that person was nowhere near it
1TonCat I had a hard time understanding too. Possibly the mic wasn’t picking up Jack very well and the video recordings audio didn’t help I’m sure.
Jack expressed that they were serving a female illusion when the category was supposed to be for masculine presentation.
wow, theres so much black culture and inspiration in the LGBTQ/ drag community.
SOOOOO much, and they don't want to admit it.
Jasmine Johnson only the white men don’t admit it 💀💀Everyone else knows where it came from.
Also latinos.
Elizabeth Whitworth sis the trans poc people created this do you have basic knowledge of this culture? they created this on the basis on what they already knew
But they stay hating and segregating themselves from us.
This is why I, a gay man, don’t fuck with the LGBT community.
12:05 Nobody talking bout how she SNATCHED HER OWN WIG. Love her, she's a legend she is her OWN
The part I liked was how the woman in black came over to give her a hug!(13:00) ❤ Noone likes to be embarrassed. ..that showed so much compassion!
This is such an interesting part of the LGBTQ+ culture. It's so avant-garde, creative, bold, artistic. It's like dance version of slam poetry and I love it. As a very subdued, non-flamboyant gay man, this isn't something I would much perform in, but it's a very exciting and interesting style of personal expression. It

@Israël Âme thats what I thought....that person was allowed to start be on stage and then stopped....why humilate them like that? Why not tel them know before hand. Not sure why the other comments are saying it was done in a nice way.
@@CrimsonStallion21 it's the participants responsibility to know the rules of the categories. He could have been mean, he was as nice as he possibly could. The contestant clearly didn't know the rules.

the line between butch queen and drag keeps coming back in the europe scene

I'm European....and I can do Butch good ass a pro ( I been dancing for 10 years)
5:56 they time traveled from quarantine to this event to escape their boredom
I was JUST about to say that! 😂
I don’t see the difference between the performer who got asked to leave the stage and the one right after. They both giving me the same thing tbh.
the one right after had facial hair and didn't have makeup on.. if you know you already have feminine features walking a male figure category you should play up your masculinity.. it wasn't shade just a learning lesson.. ballroom is nota free for all there are rules and categories for a reason.
@@chipz4277 makeup? Some performer were even wearing face masks tho
SC the first dancer was basically not a male dancing as a male. They had make up on.
the performer that got kicked from stage was wearing a feminine tight long sleeve top, if anything, all it gave was a female illusion. the category is male figure, wherein the underlying challenge is that fem performers must showcase and express masc realness.
@@Krushniccc yep he even says it's because it gives female illusion and this is the male category
the dancers wearing the surgical face masks were prophetic, (this was Dec 2019), and I got chills

Lots of people praising the fierceness, the unity, the skills, but many have missed that this, above all, is a _nonviolent expression_ among many who had to _survive_ where they came from to walk up on that stage. Every one of them should be applauded and loved. That's something everyone - from newbies _and_ house mothers - needs to remember and uphold as one of its tenets.
oh how i long to be there, vibing and cheering for these queens, making hand when they dip 😔
i feel you on that, a beautiful thing to be unapologetically you
the announcer handling the feminine presentation,,,, amazing
I’ve only seen one Queen of color here where I currently reside. I’ve been to countless shows here and they were a drag lol. No rhythm or personalities. I was spoiled in College as some friends took me to an event called Talent Takeover every Thursday. I actually let my daughter participate in a show my stud-dents were hosting. She did so good especially to never have seen one. Gosh I’ve mentored too many suicidal students to not believe the love, emotions are real. Taught my daughter to do no more or less than to love period.
