My thoughts exactly. If it was hot enough to cook an egg, the sidewalk would have cooked his arms like a steak. His arms were in contact with the pavement for quite prolonged periods.

Santi, you forgot the power of manholes. Manholes are made of metal so they can get to much higher temperatures than the ground. I've fried an egg on a manhole before and it properly fried. I got my picture in the local news for that.

the easiest way to spot these kinds of bots is:
1. *Capitalised* first name and surname with a dash and random selection of letters and numbers at the end (in this case, the weird *-z9i*).
2: a picture of a pretty woman in a suspicious non-selfie-style pose, typically nude but occasionally clothed like this one.
3: like i mentioned before - a random suspicious link in their channel bio.
These bots copy-paste comments from real people in the comment section to seem more "real".
Please report the comment for spam, and keep an eye out for more bots like this :)

Come out to Palm Springs, It's 10º-15º hotter than that for 3 months straight.
Doing it on a 122º day at 4pm, will improve your result.
Also, that was some gray looking asphalt, choosing some fresher, blacker asphalt will get that egg cookin' in no time.

I'm just imagining Jason coming back home to see that his coworker has smeared egg, bacon and bread on your driveway and having to clean it off.
Over the summer THIS year, people were getting actual burns from falling onto the sidewalk. Needless to say, the conditions you're working with aren't quite there, since you're mostly comfortably putting your arm down on the concrete, but also, if it can burn you like that, it can definitely cook an egg.
Between this and the mailbox bread, we just need some way to cook bacon for an amazing breakfast.
If you can lay your bare skin on a driveway, its not really going to cook the food, bacon is meat, you are meat. Second, the eggs on that little sidewalk was initially in dappled shade, meaning that the concrete wasnt even the highest it could have been. I love food theory, but this was a terrible attempt, even though it ended with what could be called some success.

Agreed, went through some of the comments to look for people saying this.
I've seen videos of people legitimately cooking eggs, bacon, and even cookies on sidewalks and in their cars due to the extreme levels of heat that were out in the day, so I was both suspicious yet excited about this being a whole Food Theory. But yeah, seeing him LAYING on the sidewalk was an instant red flag for the whole video.

Yes, using a Solar Oven is somewhat cheaty. But just Aluminum Foil on the hot ground is reasonable.
I litterally typed that in my own comment. Yeah you CAN cook something on the sidewalk, but you are NOT going to EAT IT! But yeah put a sheet of aluminum Foil or a Skillet or a Frying pan and just "let it cook".

It can! On a 100 degree day (which is what Santi stated was the temperature). The indoor and outdoor parts of the car can reach around 124- over 130 degrees farenheit. Though the cement was a bit hotter than these estimates, as Santi stated cement was a very very bad conductor of heat, thus your proposition maybe being correct!

I remember my neighbor’s teens (at the time) trying to cook a egg on their dad’s car. If my memory serves me right (15+ years ago) it did turn whitish, but it wasn’t cook by the time their dad yelled at them.

To be fair, ideas are a fickle lot. They come and go whenever they please, and have NO adherence to any form of logic. They will drop in at the worst possible moments, and will vanish without a trace in just as much time.

Not to mention it's dry heat there. Places like Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma get humid wet heat where 90° actually feels like 115°. As someone who's lived in both Arkansas and Arizona, central states heat is way worse.
I feel like if this was a Matt video he would have spent the first 3 minutes if the video explaining the science of what makes eggs fry and then proposing a hypothesis for whether the experiment would be successful. But Santi just jumps right in.

While I don't live in oatman Arizona, I do live in Yuma and here just to let you know that as of today Tuesday August 20th it reached 107 but felt like 113 outside. I'm fairly confident that you could cook the same breakfast on a skillet out here during our summer heat wave

Actually a suit like that in the 30's was usually made of very breathable materials, and it covered you up so you don't get overheated from the direct sunlight! My cousin wears 1800's fashion often and she always says how much cooler she is in summertime in her full body 1800's dress because of the same reasons, as opposed to the days when she is in her modern clothes!

I remember how hot metal slides could get that adults expected us to play on a few decades ago. I am certain you could do some serious cooking on those metal slides if the food somehow stayed on the slide long enough.

As someone who lives in Arizona, I have baked muffins on the dash of my car when driving about a half hour away. Perfectly done by the time I reached my destination.
