  • Two sisters, who say they suffered years of abuse at the hands of their own father, have become the latest Saudi women to flee the Kingdom.
    (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News...)
Draconian guardianship laws mean every Saudi woman is assigned a male guardian, usually a father or husband, whose permission is needed to marry, travel and even play sports.
Women, throughout their lives, are always treated as minors.
Dua and Dalal say they fear being "disappeared" if their father tracks them down.
Lindsey Hilsum went to Istanbul to speak to the sisters for this exclusive report.

    • @Kashkha7
      @Kashkha7 5 лет назад +3

@@nobs997 Many of their statements sound fishy, I'd like to highlight 2 of them:
The attempted rape has a higher possibility to be fake than real. Why?
      1. Punishment for rape is death.
      2. Mutawas/religious police dont have high social standing & don't have much power. The little power they had even got stripped after the new King. And they won't dare to mess with locals. There are only about 10% locals & everyone related to everyone. The random local you'd see in the mall might be 5th cousin to the King. These mutawas won't risk it. You'd find local girls cussing mutawas out. Only unskilled foreign workers/illegal immigrants fear them.
      3. Mutawas mostly work in pairs. And cars in Saudi & most Gulf can't have tinted windows. Almost non existent chance to rape.
      4. Saudis don't go out. For them it's house -> car -> office/school/market/malls -> house. You don't see them on the streets, even more so if they're females. And women move in pairs or more. And again they don't walk around on the streets. Very very slim chance for a woman to walk alone and encounter criminal & got assaulted/mugged in Saudi.
This story would be more believable if they were (Asian or African) expats working domestic getting assaulted by their own bosses in private residences.
I also found it rather odd they went on a vacation in Turkey. Not saying it's impossible, but small chance of this happened within past 2 years. Saudi & Turkey don't have good relation. It got worse when Turkey decided to support Qatar. The Prince has been calling for a boycott. Less Turkish products sold in Gulf countries, except Qatar. Less Saudis & other Gulf Arabs except for Qataris go to Turkey. Even lesser after Khashoggi. Just look at the news about the ghost town that was supposed to be sold to Arabs, no Arabs come to buy.

C'mon. Please watch the Vice documentary. It sheds more light on this issue. Let's not pretend that we do not know what women in most Arab nations go through. Whether they come from Royalty or not. Ask yourselves why princesses or girls from rich families will decide to flee during a trip and live in fear that they will be arrested and deported/taken back to their countries? Surely its not because they were having the time of their lives. There are many people in need....agreed but is one's life better than the other just because we want to debate social stratification? It is sad to lose one's life under any circumstance especially if its an order from your own father. Imagine fleeing from something and never being able to get away from it because you are always fearful that something terrible will happen to you at any moment. Imagine being told that your father has paid large sums of money to get people to reveal your location and there is a possibility that you will end up dead or locked up in your pursuit for freedom.

Islam has to drop this "perfect men" facade.
Everyone knows that islamic men are as human as their wives and children; And a single human can't be considered able to control the lives of so many people just because they happened to be born male.
In other words, like in any society, there is scum amongst iranian men, and for the sake of protecting women and children, they need to be able to claim their own basic human rights and decide for their own on personal choices (specially grown-up women).

Given the precious limitation that time has for all, from that which is afforded for you to love your children, to squander these moments foolishly simply makes you a pauper in the eyes of humanity and God, No matter how powerful you think you are, as the currency of your own truths no longer can sustain value, you have shortchanged yourself of the very blessings of life itself. • @Kashkha7
      @Kashkha7 5 лет назад +3

Really? You obviously haven't visit each & every country in Middle East. If you have you wouldn't say that.
On these girls, I found many of their statements to be fishy. I'd highlight some of them:
Her story about the attempted rape has a higher possibility to be fake than real. Why?
You'd find local girls cussing mutawas out, you can even watch vids here on YT. Only unskilled foreign workers/illegal immigrants fear them.
      3. Mutawas CAN'T arrest people & take them to their cars. And they mostly work in pairs. And cars in Saudi & most Gulf can't have tinted windows. Almost non existent chance to rape.
      4. Saudis don't go out. For them it's house -> car -> office/school/market/malls -> car -> house. You don't see them on the streets, even more so if they're females. And women only move in pairs or more. And again they don't walk around on the streets. Very very slim chance for a woman to walk alone and got assaulted/mugged in Saudi. It's not USA nor India where women got raped left & right.
This story would be more believable if they were (Asian or African) expats working domestic getting assaulted by their own bosses in private residences.
Hijab only mandatory for women to wear when they are out. Women not girls. I've seen 12-15 years olds without hijabs in malls. And in their houses or other private places they don't wear them. So it rather strange to hear they got beaten for taking them off. And now it's not mandatory anymore, although abaya the long black robe still is. For the women who are still wearing the hijab they are far more relax with it (some hair & neck are showing).
I also found it rather odd they went on a vacation in Turkey. Not saying it's impossible, but small chance of this happened within past 2 years. Saudi & Turkey don't have good relation. It got worse when Turkey decided to support Qatar with the whole blockade on Qatar thing. The Prince has been calling for a boycott for Turkey as well. Less Turkish products sold in Gulf countries, except Qatar. Less Saudis & other Gulf Arabs except for Qataris go to Turkey. Even lesser after Khashoggi. Just look at the news about the Turkey ghost town that was supposed to be sold to Arabs, no Arabs come to buy.
Then the inconsistenty on how these two described their escape. And their whole look & mannerism. Have you worked or volunteered for abused youth/women? Maybe you'd know.

I am an American citizen who was brought to live in Saudi Arabia when I was only 10 years old, back in 1989. I am now 44 years old, unmarried, and without children. Living conditions for me in Saudi Arabia are very poor. I never had the opportunity to receive a proper education, and finding a job here is extremely difficult. My future in Saudi Arabia is uncertain. My elderly parents are retired and have no income or insurance. I work as an English tutor, and my monthly salary is only 1,000. Thankfully, we have a friend who is currently providing us with housing. My father does not want to leave the country, but I feel like my life is slipping away with each passing day. If anyone can provide assistance with my situation, I would be more than grateful. All I want is a way out or at least a job so that I can support myself and my parents.

These two sisters don't seem to fit the Saudi outfit.
Their English is very good and their accent is not heavy.
The lesbian seems to be somewhat experienced from Saudi?
If they feared for their life, they would never show their faces in fear of being recognised.
They look very confident and well rehearsed in their interview.
Until a response from their parents is not sought, then this could or could not be genuine.

I'm all for justice but these girls seem like pulling a Nayirah alSabah (thanks to her false testimony Iraq wars happened).
I've been to Saudi & other Gulf countries and I know quite well the people & their culture & how things operate there. I found many of their statements to be fishy. I'd highlight some of them:
Her story about the attempted rape has a higher possibility to be fake than real. Why?
For them it's house -> car -> office/school/market/malls -> house. You don't see them on the streets, even more so if they're females.
And nowadays the ladies are far more relax with their hijabs.
Just look at the news about Turkey ghost town that was supposed to be sold to Arabs, no Arabs come to buy.
Then their whole looks & mannerism. Have you worked or volunteered for abused youth/women? You'd know.
