Can you do Girl, Interrupted?
Please do more videos on this movie. It's one of my favorites.
I feel like Margot also has undying love for her family and carries it through her clothes. The tennis dress matches Richies ensemble to indicate their feelings for one another, also to blend in with both her brothers sports attire. The purse and shoes is attribute to her mother's real class and vanity. The fur coat represents she carries apart of her father and his liklieness of showing off her wealth like he does.
ur a genius
“Brothers”
I love this movie & Gwyneth nailed it. I wish she did more roles like this. Also you could seriously do an entire series based off of every character in this film.
TechnicJunglist Yeah. This is hands down, Gwyneth’s best performance.
seconded!
Sometimes I forget that she was a great actress.
She still is.
Same
Loved this video. would appreciate if “anatomy of a style icon” videos became a small series on this channel! There’s a lot of great style icons in film.
Maya F. I agree
Yeah, I was looking for a series...I would be awesome, like holly golightly, the mean girl color pastel effect, or almost famous Penny Lane
If that were to become a thing, mathilda from leon would have to be included,it's only fair 💅
I'VE NEVER BEEN SO EARLY
MORE WES ANDERSON'S!!!
Yes! Please and thank you!
yeeeeees👏👏👏👏👏
My favourite Wes Anderson film. I loved Gwyneth in this film even though I'm not exactly a fan of her other performances.
Mine too, although I do rate "Moonrise Kingdom" and "Rushmore" highly as well. In my opinion, Gwyneth's performance here was more captivating and compelling than her Oscar winning turning in "Shakespeare in Love".🏆💕
@@trinaq I love those films! Also, The Grand Budapest Hotel and Fantastic Mr. Fox are great. Wes is one of my favorite contemporary filmmakers.
Also, ditto on Gwyneth giving a better performance here than in Shakespeare in love.
@@dyutiparnaguha8693 Mine too, there's not a film of his that I've downright disliked, as there's such a charming quirkiness and whimsical nature which permeates his entire work. 😊
Wes Anderson is one of my favorite directors.
Gwyneth is such a great actress when she actually tries to be in real cinema and not be a celebrity.
She is
Real cinema scented candles
@@jtorr2997 lol
Does she try'? Has she ever ?
I never realized
The take : "Onscreen depiction of smoking can treat it as an almost sexual compulsion."
*shows Chandler with a cigarette*
Me : oh HELL yeah
I wish the take could do an analysis of my life
desperately
You probably have your answers if you’ve watched most of their videos
Me 2
That would be fun. Or sad lol
ikr 😭
her makeup always made me think of edie sedgwick, so it carries this sort of “poor little rich girl” image. bob dylans song about edie, “like a rolling stone”, fits margots character perfectly imo!
The coat is very Edie as well.
great insight
Margot's look was said to be inspired by the German Singer, Nico
I would love a video essay on Fleabag
Yes, I'd love if they compared Fleabag with the other female characters, such as Claire or Godmother, and discuss how each portrays femininity.
I'd love a video essay on Fleabag's style!
Loved this, she reminds me of effy with the eyeliner and serena van der woodsen with her wealth, she's the prettiest
more like blair cuz serena is blantly
As a burnt out gifted kid (gifted in reading, writing and general vocabulary) I relate so closely to margot, she is such an important character to me,as I relate to her due to that creative nature and the demise of that creativity happening so quickly
Your videos are incredibly relaxing i feel like I disappear into them.
You can't bring up Margo's "soundtrack" without mentioning that whenever she is on screen, "Christmas Time is Here" plays.
This was absolutely brilliant!!! My favorite Wes Anderson movie to date, I think often times it’s easier to take granted his movies depth because they are visually appealing. I love how this video sheds light on the fact that his movies aren’t just beautiful for the sake of beauty and there is a lot of deeper meaning behind every visual aspect.
Another video analysis that I didn't know I needed until this moment!😍 Please make a video about "The Umbrella Academy", as much like "The Royal Tenenbaums", it focuses on how children can be scarred by their upbringing well into adulthood.
"The Umbrella Academy" is the show that Wes Anderson absolutely should have been at the helm of.
I think there might not be so much to dig through, The umbrella academy depects the characters pretty straightforwardly
@@dyutiparnaguha8693 agree
SOMEBODY FINALLY SAID THIS!!!! I’ve been thinking about the similarities between TRT and TUA for so long, but no one else has said anything!
I absolutely love this. Can you guys do more breakdowns of interesting/iconic characters wardrobes/styles? Great stuff!
You guys should analyze how Arrested Development is an off-kilter take on this movie!
RogueCodes omg I can’t believe I missed that
what, tell me more
This movie is pretty off-kilter too.
Good one
Yes please!!!
Could you please go over her brother who wore suits as a child but then started wearing adidas track suits?
Definitely more of this. There are tons of characters who would be great for this kind of micro study. Celebrating design in film.
I love the exploration of film characters as style icons. It would be great to see more of these...
This is one of my favourite movies!! I'm so happy you guys made a video on it
This is amazing work. I have been waiting for something like this for a while from you guys. I hope you do more of these types of analysis.
I live for the content in this channel. You ladies amaze me 🤗
Top notch RUclips film analysis on a film and character no other channel would choose. I love it.
I was just thinking about her iconic style yesterday, and today this pops up in my feed. Perfect timing. :)
please do a video on “Never let me go”, I’d love to see the deeper meaning. Love ur work guys, keep it up 😁🧐
I'd loveee that!
great analysis of one of my fave movies, thank you!
Could you cover The talented Mister Ripley, and how it's style was more iconic than the actual movie.
Style eclipsing the movie.
And of course, Gwyneth is in it ❤
Just love the details being shared and the psychology behind. Not knowing the movie isn't a reason not to watch.
This video was so well done!! Thank you!
Any time I dial past this film on TV, I have to stop and watch it.
Fantastic review of one of the best films of all time, The Royal Tenenbaums. Margot Tenenbaum character is definitely one of cinema’s most stylistic and influential. Kudos to Wes Anderson and Gwyneth.
I read somewhere that a large part of what prevents siblings from developing romantic feelings for one another is seeing each other being nursed and cared for by their parents while growing up. If that's true then it's not that unbelievable or weird that siblings adopted later in childhood, or step-siblings (like Cher and Josh in 'Clueless') fall in love.
Beautiful vid👌🏽
Love this focus on costuming please please please more
I love this, more Wes Anderson please.
Well done with this video. Thank you!!!! x
THIS IS MT FAVORITE VIDEO!!!!I LOVE THIS MOVIE SO MUCH😍😍😍
this is my favorite movie and i love her style so much in this
This is so great. The final suggestion to find your own inner Margot is some truly excellent advice. btw how good is Gwyneth in this film?
One of my fave characters ever 💖
This was brilliant. Every since I was a girl I adored Margot T!
I’ve always wondered this: is this movie roughly based on Salinger’ Franny and Zooey?
Excellent point
Yes, Wes Anderson has said that this family is based off the Glass family (Franny and Zooey Glass, they also feature in A Perfect Day for Bananafish and Seymour, and and Introduction/Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters
@@emilleeloo Salinger's Nine Stories is a beautiful collection of literature. Now if only I can hopefully live into my 80s so I can read the locked up sequel at the Yale library that'll be finally be released to the public of the Catcher In The Rye
@@emilleeloo Boo Boo Glass' married name is Tanembaum so....
She's so underrated. This performance is sensational.
Pleaseeeee do more of these
When Gwen is in that makeup and hairstyle, she reminds me of Claire Danes
Can you do more of these videos? It was so entertaining!!!
4:35 huh, interesting take guys
*proceeds to smudge my dark eyeshadow as I do my makeup in the bathroom*
Same, lol.
Love this movie!!
Ooh, I never even caught the Henry Orient reference! One of my favorites.
More on Wes Anderson please! :D
Do an analysis of Penny Lane from Almost Famous pretty please. She was soo awesome.
Her clothes didn't matter to me. I've always been attracted to kinda strange, introverted, not beautiful, but not ugly women. They just are more genuine and not stuck on themselves. Also, they seem to care about things deeply; no matter what THAT THING may be. PEACE AND PROSPERITY TO ALL.
Please make more fashion related videos
I love them Gwyneth and Margot ❤
I really enjoyed your 'anatomy of Margot's style', but for someone who hasn't seen the film, they might be excused for thinking it a serious drama, when in fact it's one of the funniest films I've ever seen.
I'm inspired by this movie to dress to reflect my personality, past and mind.I have childhood trauma which caused schizophrenia so i dress in old fashioned, childlike dresses then i pair them with doc marten mary janes with white frilly socks over fishnet tights usually (my go to uniform) then i have a septum piercing and eyeliner which clashes with my girlish long blonde hair which has a blunt fringe, i usually wear headbands too...i personally love when people dress in a way that reflects their inner self rather than following trends
This is my favorite movie of all time!
I wanna watch this so bad again now
Awesome! Please add the take on her role on Netflix’s The Politian
One of my favorite characters, in this very ironically funny flim.😁
My favorite Wes Anderson movie :D.
6:55 I love this movie! Also, you can see Ms. Flatcher( Angela Lansbury) in it as a bad mother( spoiler).
I think it's kinda 60s teen movie, or kids movie, or teen movie starts after the movie, when you see the two girls as teenagers in the end.
Peter Seller just funny in this movie, and rock it!
Please do Richard Linklater’s Before Series
Please do character studies on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Mean Girls!!!!
Agreed, I hope that they compare the original Sabrina with the comparatively darker version, and discuss what makes them similar and different to the other.❤
They have one on Regina George
They don't do silly things like Sabrina, give up.
@@jenlindley7780 I don't think it would be silly if it was done as a general study of witches on Movies and TV. Withes are heavily related with being the other, fear of the other, goddess-whore dichotomy and the view on witches is heavily correlated with society's view of women: Specifically independent women who do not need men and/or refuses to conform to the standards of patriarchy. A general study on witches similar to their videos on mermaids would be very helpful I believe
@@eciyk About that matter, I can really see something with "The Craft". But Sabrina. ..not so much. ..I like it, but it's too mild and vanilla for them to notice you know? But an video essay about witches in general like you said could be interesting.
I live for gwens acting it’s the reason why she is one of my top favorite actresses but boi is she kinda crazy
I really love Margot Tenenbaum she seems on the surface level at first but the more you think about her you feel her deep character.
Her fur coat is also reminiscent of Franny Glass, from Franny and Zooey, which was another source of inspiration to the movie
I have a few suggestions of videos: You tv show, 500 Days of Summer, Taxi Driver, and the Graduate
Could you do a video about Gossip Girl (especially Blair Waldorf) 😊
Could you guys analyse the movie Carol next?
Love 💕
WHY DO I FEEL LIKE CRYING?
I only recently put together that the work of Edward Gorey, a writer who accompanied 1 - 2 lines of text to an elaborately crosshatched illustration, and whose work was on the ironic side, influenced Wes Anderson. Edward Gorey himself almost always wore a knee- length fur coat.
Analysis HBO Euphoria
How can you don't love this movie
Hey The Take, great job as always 👍
Please do a take on Modern Family characters 🙏
Make a séries about Mean girls
Yes, I'd love if they made a video about how Janis was originally the "Queen Bee" in her friendship with Regina, but in her bid for revenge against Regina through Cady, becomes just as sneaky and manipulative as her former frenemy.
With the vast funds of the morbidly wealthy that these streaming services enjoy, you'd think they could find some good stories, screenplay writers, directors and pay for original music in their soundtracks. The Killer (Netflix) was an encouraging step in the right direction. Had a relationship, decades ago, in the 1980s. She introduced me to Patti Smith's Horses. I introduced her to Talking Heads' Remain in Light. Always used to wear those old fashioned slips when we were home at our apartment. I don't know how comfortable they were but our son will turn forty in the spring.
What's the music at the end?
Shes so beautiful
I swear Margot and Richie's is the best kiss in movie history
Blake Liveley resembles a young Gwyneth Paltrow with the same effortless ennui.
Thanks for the laugh👍😂
I scream U scream We scream. I LOVE HER! DO MORE!
When I was young and first watched this movie and wanted to be her so badly LOLOL
Please do penny lane from almost famous
Also, am I crazy or they were never blood siblings so it's actually not incestual?
Ashley Miranda I guess not technically, although depending on where you are it’s still illegal.
But they grew up as siblings so that's kind of strange
@@Max-cb2ro they always reminded Margot that she wasn't related.
Ya I’ve never seen a problem with it
please do fleabag!
God. Wow
Why THE HELL I relate with every single point???
She reminds me a lot of myself. Possibly suffering from bpd, pisces sun and moon, Aquarius rising 🤞🏻also Richie is adopted too I think it wasn't mentioned in the video
I was briefly, but I think she's a Scorpio sun, aqua moon, Scorpio or cancer rising, Scorpio Mercury and Sagittarius venus
@@MaRyaYTOfficial I mean I said pisces sun&moon and aqua rising just because those are also my placements and I see her really close to me. But yea totally see the scorpio sun now that you mention it. Why the other placements you think?
@@apricotblossom2991 well I say Scorpio mercury because shes very blunt but withholding, she speaks with intensity in a way, now that I think, I feel as though she has a Leo venus, fixed energy, she wears the same clothes, child like, but she knows who she is. She also caring to her "brother" that she loves in a Leo way, warm and focusing attention on who interests her for the time being. Also instead of cancer rising, i'd say Aquarius rising, slender, her own sense of identity, unique, kinda aloofish. But a Scorpio rising isnt impossible either, her seeming mysterious and more of a longer. Another fixed sign. For her very fixed energy
Also I think im a cap moon, Leo rising, aqua sun
Lastly, I know I've said it before but could you make a video on Astrid from Crazy Rich Asians? 🤗🌸💙
Yes!!!
I think it’s interesting how the biological Tenenbaums have darker hair whiles she’s blonde, and when she’s with her birth family, who are all blonde, she has her hair dyed black, showing that she feels she’s never really fit in with any family
Can you do the next one on richie please☺
Please do Penny Lane, from Almost Famous
Oh please, made some of Sabrina, and crazy rich asians!
It’s more of a JD Salinger reference vs. Ambersons
Anna Williams if Tekken was an arthouse movie.
