I just did this modification and the video was invaluable. I wouldn't have attempted this mod without it. Two little tips in addition to what's in the video: 1) You don't have to remove the rear screws on the side. They hold mounting brackets for the rear assembly. 2) Use the stock Nanlite screws to attach the fan. The screws that come with the Noctua fan don't fit the holes.
Thanks for the additional tips. Did you also make your own cable? Can't really see in the video if only the black and red cables were connected. (And if the yellow one can just be left unused)
Thank you after your video I done that with a dimmer and a 5v fan because the dimmer works on 5v. Both noctua. I use a USB power supply for the fan so the light and the fan are turning "separately". I have to pay attention to not forget to put on the fan but it worth it.
@@ISCOOPS smaller than the Noctua NF-B9 Redux or smaller than the FS-300? Because the NF-B9 is a 92mm fan, not the 120mm fan used in this video. What fan did you use?
Hey @Loïc Surprenant , did you make your own 2 to 3 pin connecter like PANDA CAM did in this video? Would love to know how to wire this... as you go from 2 connections on the JST side to 3 connections on the fan side. Don't know where I would need to connect the yellow cable. Or do you just leave that one unused? Thanks!
Thanks for the video! It helped me get a feel for what the nanlite forza 300B would be like taken apart -- although it seems like the Forza series actually comes stock with Noctua NF-P12 1700rpm redux PWM -- strangely (or maybe not), the PWM/fan control pins weren't connected to anything on the board as far as I could tell.
Great video! Thank you for making this. I just picked up the FS-300 and am considering doing this, or possibly returning and getting the FS-150 for slightly reduced fan noise (but with a significant power cut). How do you feel about the long term use of this light with the fan swap? Do you think that extra +2C would increase with longer use, say 2+ hours?
i have the sl200ii from godox and the fan never bothered me and i can't listen to it at all during my jobs. I shot a number of commercials, interviews and live music performance and never had any problem at all The fs300 might only be a problem if you are running this light on a super controlled enviroment, indoors and the audio source is really close to the light (i can count the times this happened with me and never had any audio issues), so i wouldn't mod it until you face this kinda of situation in real life , but in my experience so far, it hasn't happened I plan to get the fs300 to add to my arsenal and compare audio levels with my other lights, but i'm pretty sure it won't be that bad from the tests that i've seen and how i work
Great video! Can't find the cable in europe unfortunately 😔 For the cable that you made yourself. Did you just connect red to red and black to black and leave the yellow one unused?
I ended up getting the Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (120mm) on Amazon. Check out my install and comparisons: ruclips.net/video/62DLlEd2r18/видео.html

@@tijmenbrouwers I just used the adapter cable in the video description. It installed easily.
@@NickInFocus ah thanks for your quick reply. Can't find that cable anywhere over in Europe... would take almost 3 weeks to ship.

Definitely should keep continue to keep us updated on this.
I just did a fan swap myself, check it out if you have a few mins: ruclips.net/video/62DLlEd2r18/видео.html
Great video, now my FS-300 is SILENT! Now I will try on my FS-150. Thank you SOOO much.
Hey man, did you have any luck with your FS-150? Thinking of chucking a Noctua NF-B9 Redux in mine 🤔
@@SpontSpiceWeasel You need a smaller fan for the FS-150 Beware! Take the measurements before ordering the fan.

@@SpontSpiceWeasel I don't recall. Look it up with a measuring tape on the horizontal length of the entire fan module.

So there is no point in replacing it ? I might consider creating actual pwm module to let the fan run according to temperature.
