I think the Texan pride thing comes from our history classes, learning that Texas colonists managed to fight off another nation’s army (with help of course) and then was its own country for about 10 years before begging the United States to please take them in. A lot of states don’t have a history that is that action packed. It’s almost like a mini American revolution, and everyone knows how patriotic we can be about the US because of that
Plus, Texas is basically its own country and is one of the most powerful states. I'm pretty sure Texas could split from the rest of the US and would be fine. Could be wrong about that last part though.

It's hard to say when SpongeBob became "bad." The fact is that Stephen Hillenburg and several prolific writers left the series after Season 3 and the movie. Season 4 has a younger staff that tried to pick up where the old guard left off, but after a while they start doing their own thing. The part nobody can agree on is when "their own thing" became a problem.
29:15 Here's the thing. I'm one of the people who watched Spongebob way after it got bad due to hoping it would get good again. So I feel confident in saying this. Season 4 is not bad. It's just that the general quality of episodes and characterization gets a noticeably lower average in that season. There are a few episodes that are pre-movie quality. But not that much. Season 5, the quality gets even lower, but not by much so there are a few episodes that are still perfectly serviceable but only like 1 or 2 could reach pre-movie quality in writing. Season 6 literally starts with a mediocre episode with a horrible infamous scene and things continue being incredibly mediocre going forward. The "good" episodes are just the level of decent episodes of season 5...with one exception gets to what I believe to be a good Season 4 level. (And even that episode has a horribly gross scene in there to prevent it from being perfectly fine). The thing with Spongebob that kept people watching way after is that decent and even bad episodes could have one or two scenes where things are really funny or memeable, but the actual episode itself is not at that level.
I think Season 5 is also where the Squidward episodes stop being him getting his comeuppance or self-sabotaging and start with the show torturing him for no reason, which is a reason a lot of people don’t like the Post-Movie Era. I also watched a decent amount of 5 and 6 hoping things would get better, and it really feels like executive meddling with the way they overuse gross images and flanderized pretty much everyone.
I think of the bad SpongeBob Seasons as 'mid-season SB' rather than 'modern SB' which people aften associate it with. Season 9 was where I felt the show finally started going back in the right direction and had more charm than Seasons 4-8
"Weird pride over a place they were born in" Ah yes, thats why they have pride in it. Not the culture, history, people. Just the land itself, and nothing else.
Anyone ever noticed that Fred, the singing fish did not hurt his leg in “Jellyfish Hunter”? You’d think he’d have another leg accident while dancing throughout that Jelly Patty number.
As a child, it never clicked to me that the whole episode of Sandy, SpongeBob and the Worm was a short homage to Stephen Spielberg’s 1978 classic JAWS. Everything from someone clawing on a surface to break up the commotion in a bickering room, to the town “hiring” someone to hunt the beast, to the fake out of someone capturing what they think is the actual beast, but it really wasn’t. It’s wild.
Though, in the strike episode, it was more about getting the attention of as many people as possible than about trying to sound more competent than he was.

The reason why people say it gets bad after season 3 is because that is when Stephen Hillenburg left the show. He originally wanted the movie to be the end of the show (the movie was released after season 3) but Nickelodeon decided to continue it. Personally, I continued watching until right around season 6, and there really is a noticeable dip in quality starting in season 4. That's just my opinion though.
There definetly is a quality drop after the movie because that was supposed to be the finale. The creator Steven Hillenburg and other writers left the show. I like most of the season 4 episodes, some are great, some just okay and most pretty good. The following seasons have their moments and some episodes I like but the style has changed. Episode 19 is so nostaligic for me because I remember every single year from 2006 to around 2012 me and my siblings would sit at the kids table for thanksgiving at my grandmothers house and the only "kids" dvd she had was that one episode that she recorded for us and we would watch it every single year. i have no idea where that tape is now.
Thank you guys so much for these weekly SpongeBob and regular show reactions, I’ve been going though a lot of bad shit lately, and your videos really make my day:)

top that, pinky SpongeBob acting like Sandy's pa and SAY IT OR I'LL TRIP YOU are so underrated like I think alot of us would of love to trip someone in like a game or whatever cause they didn't admit there wrong lol
One thing I love about Mr. Krabs as a character is how he can naturally fill pretty much any role the show needs him to from episode to episode. Sometimes he’s a completely villainous dirtbag and sometimes he’s a nurturing voice of reason, often somewhere in between.
11:24 if you think about it the fact of Patrick getting mad about his name being changed to Rick actually makes more sense than you think. Because in big pink loser that scene of is this the crusty crab and Patrick kept saying no this is Patrick until he got mad and blew it
I kept watching SpongeBob well after season 4 as a kid, there’s one channel that is still reacting past that season and I’ve been shocked seeing just how many episodes I forgot about but now remember bits and pieces of after seeing the thumbnails. I remember still watching it as a kid but at a certain point started feeling like the episodes were getting really strange and genuinely made me uncomfortable to watch, but that didn’t start happening until about season 6 or so. I group season 4 in with the first three because there are some episodes on there I remember fondly that really aren’t as bad as people say, and I remember specific episodes from later seasons that I liked but they weren’t as good/memorable as the first 4 seasons. It’s all up to personal opinion though, some people absolutely hate later SpongeBob episodes while some really like them still. I think there are some really good moments in later seasons but they’re just more rare to come by than in the earlier ones.
a lot of people say that season 9 is a return to form for the series and even started giving season 1 vibes. I haven't seen it yet so I can't really make that judgement.
I've been rewatching SpongeBob myself recently and I'm up to season 5. Season 4 & 5 are the ones I remember the most and I enjoy them. I hope you continue watching but if you decide not to I understand as well! As long as you react to the first movie then I'm happy! :]
Season 4 is definitely a good season for the most part, meanwhile I'd say either season 5 or 6 is where you start to tread into mixed bag territory, and I remember mid 2010s era Spongebob being a bit stale alot of the time. However, from the couple episodes I saw, modern Spongebob (as in the last few years) seems to have a new energy back, imo at least.
I grew up watching the first 7 or 8 seasons, but rewatching them as an adult I don't find it entertaining past season 3. The creator leaving definitely made a difference, there's a reason all the memes are from the first 3 lol
After Season 3, I recommend watching the 2004 movie. It was supposed to serve as the series finale, until the show was continued with season 4 due to profit. Anyway, I actually consider Season 4 as a group with the first three, so I also recommend that Season. Everything after Season 4, though, I don't remember much of. I believe I only saw up to Season 7 in full, but afterwards, I might have seen like a few episodes here or there up to Season 10.
ayyooooo, i loved this episode as a kid, and I have an AMAZING memory when it comes to shows and movies, but i don't AT ALL remember spongebob saying "this way they can identify our bodies" THIS SHOW IS EPIC😭
Seasons 4 & 5 are still worth watching. I might be in the minority here but I actually enjoyed seasons 6-8. There are some disturbing/gross out stuff here and there but I still enjoyed this era as a kid. Season 9 is when I started watching the show on and off so I can’t remember if it was good or not.
For the convo at the end, I have been there for pretty much all of Spongebob, and to me there is no "bad season." I feel like it's a matter of perspective based on how we grow up and watch it evolve, and also how the writing of the show changes to fit a newer generation that can also grow up with it as we have. That said, I will say that statistically most people don't care much for seasons 5 through 9, so yeah. 🤷
There is no such think as an Alaskan Bull Worm in real life however the worm in the episode might be based on the real life Giant Gippsland earthworm located in Australia. It's a worm that can grow up to 3 meters long! The real issue is it isn't aquatic but otherwise it's pretty similar.
"Krabs rob his own mom" Can't wait for them to see the actual banned episode, aka mid life crustacean, and the reason why it was banned. I found it funny when i was a kid
The fact that Plankton uses a microphone in the Fry Cook games that's on just a rope with no wire attached to it still bothers the hell out of me to this very day.

21:28 I recently found out what she meant by "I'm from Texas; what you think is big I think is big are two different bigs didn't mean "I'm tough you being a sea creature and me being a land creature have different POVs of the word big" but was a hint of the famous quote "everything's bigger in Texas" I should know I visited Texas last November some things there were a lot bigger than in my home state NY like 3 Liter soda bottles for starters
11:58 Think about it…🤣
Episode 19 is so nostaligic for me because I remember every single year from 2006 to around 2012 me and my siblings would sit at the kids table for thanksgiving at my grandmothers house and the only "kids" dvd she had was that one episode that she recorded for us and we would watch it every single year. i have no idea where that tape is now.
11:20 in the german version he sayed "my name is not lee" .......... making this even funnyer
19:34: IS THIS THE ALASKAN BULLWORM!? XD
20:13: YUP!
"Say it or I'll trip you" omfg I do NOT remember that line XD
The steaks are definitely bigger in Texas. I frickin love that place
22:34 *Cough cough* Florida
Thank you guys so much for these weekly SpongeBob and regular show reactions, I’ve been going though a lot of bad shit lately, and your videos really make my day:)
Man these last episodes were ICONIC! Fry Cook Games, Jellyfish Hunter, the Strike and the Alaskan Bull Worm episode! Season 2 honestly ended on such a strong note. I'm excited for you guys to do season 3 and the movie!
top that, pinky SpongeBob acting like Sandy's pa and SAY IT OR I'LL TRIP YOU are so underrated like I think alot of us would of love to trip someone in like a game or whatever cause they didn't admit there wrong lol
Because in big pink loser that scene of is this the crusty crab and Patrick kept saying no this is Patrick until he got mad and blew it
Y’know I’ve always wondered are Jellyfish the SpongeBob Universe Equivalent Bees or Butterflies?
Yes. And all animals that contribute to our environment while also being sadly used and abused by consumerism and capitalist.
I guess they’re a mixture of both.
9:50 Patrick just killed them!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
"my name is not RICK" scene is so funny. Don't even know why.😂
It's absurd, but also makes sense in a way.
first episode is a great example of the “toon force”. not sure if y’all have heard of it but spongebob and patrick are pretty strong in the toon force

Their reactions are priceless!
“What you think is big and what I think is big are two totally different bigs.”
Looks like someone needs to learn about deep sea gigantism.
I always think that pride in your homeland is a natural thing, especially if your homeland is particularly rough or hard living.
I've been rewatching SpongeBob myself recently and I'm up to season 5. Season 4 & 5 are the ones I remember the most and I enjoy them. I hope you continue watching but if you decide not to I understand as well! As long as you react to the first movie then I'm happy! :]
5:24 oh my gosh Mr. Gramps is the ONCELER from the Lorax.
The sheer terror on Ruff’s face when Patrick licks SpongeBob’s foot lol
For anyone curious, Alaskan Bull Worms are technically real. It's a deep drown color, slick, and has centipede legs. Not a pretty sight.
Mr Krabs literally falling apart when he sees what SpongeBob did to the Krusty Krab never gets old 😂
I like that the fry cook games doesn't discriminate and lets people of all different shapes and sizes participate
Everythings gonna be fine Billy
Everything is gonna be fine Billy.
DAN POVENMIRE, IN THE CREDITS OF THE LAST ONE!!!!
"We should take Bikini Bottom and push it somewhere else!"
"That idea might just be crazy enough...to get us all killed!"
The funny thing about Sandy unable to defeat the ABW is since it’s Alaskan, it’s bigger than Texas!
"Krabs rob his own mom"
Can't wait for them to see the actual banned episode, aka mid life crustacean, and the reason why it was banned. I found it funny when i was a kid
Love saturdays I go on break and the big homies dropped a gem to watch🔥🔥
"Everything's bigger in Texas"
Alaskan Bull Worm: is from Alaska, the one state bigger than Texas
The fact that Plankton uses a microphone in the Fry Cook games that's on just a rope with no wire attached to it still bothers the hell out of me to this very day.
Yayyy - also you guys post so early lmao it’s 6:41 in my hometown but it’s 1:41 am where I am rn
