There's actually a rune that turns the boost gauge into a ring gauge where once it's full you become Super Sonic without it being cosmetic. Although you lose access to the Super Sonic skins.
11:19 fun fact: when you use the chaos emeralds buddy on this sonic, he will have an animation that transitions him into his super form (which is the intro animation that you saw but in the air), and if you were wearing the super form alts already, the emeralds will put him in his hyper form
I think the one after the spark reference was yet another refrence to another series based on sonic the hedgehog called freedom planet, which started life as a mod funnily enough. Haven't played it, but Im pretty sure i recognize the color scheme of the main character.
And if u didn't know "It's Him" is a reference to the SAGE 2019 Demo of Pizza Tower who has Snick The Porcupine, which is basically Pizza Tower Sonic, lol.
This Sonic was soo smooth to play with. Everything just felt right, like if he were to be reworked in Official Smash he HAS to be flashy and dynamic as this
For alts, I can definitely pick out quite a few references. There's the obvious ones, like #1 being an Eggman alt, #2, #3, and #4 being references to Tails, Knuckles, and Amy respectively, #5 being a really neat Chaos reference, as he mentioned in the video, #6 and #7 being references to Shadow and Silver, and #8 being a reference to Blaze. After that, it gets a little more obscure, but I'll do my best to get all of them. #9 feels really vague tbh, I'm mostly getting vibes of the waterfall glitch from Sonic 2 with the green and black, and blue eyes. #10 is a reference to Mario, and the name is a reference to the old Console War rivalry that had, which is a neat reference. #11 is another reference he pointed out in the video, this one being a Spark the Electric Jester callback. It's a fangame that takes a lot of notes from Sonic, just like the reference to the next alt. #12 seems to be a reference to Lilac from Freedom Planet, again, a little indie game that took some inspiration from Sonic's high speed platforming. #13 is the first alt I really can't suggest anything for. I'd say maybe the Werehog from Unleashed, but the eyes are wrong. #14 seems to be a reference to the GameBoy color scheme, though it does feel a bit awkward for Sonic to have one when the GameGear was out at the same time competing against it. #15 is one of my favorites, being a reference to the Fake Metal secret from Sonic Heroes for multiplayer. Though it does have a mouth, so that's odd, considering both the Heroes and Sonic Speed Simulator versions don't. #16 might just be a Christmas colored version of Sonic, with the snow white quills and red and green gloves and shoes, while the name is of course a reference to Ice Cap Zone originating in Sonic 3. #17 and #18 are some more I don’t really have anything for. But #19 is definitely a reference to the Flash, who people still have debates over who's faster today. #20 makes me think to the very beginning "stage" of Dark Sonic from the Sonic X anime, though we know nothing about it, so I'm not 100% sure. The name definitely seems to encourage my theory though. Um, #21 is a bit confusing, though my best thought would be Snick from Pizza Tower, a parody to Sonic in that game. My second guess? Coldsteel. For the last five, they mostly feel like extremely niche references, so I'm not gonna get them. I also like how (almost) all of his aerials are all references to different moves, with F-Air being his Forward Air trick from Sonic Advance 2 and 3 when he's paired up with Tails, D-Air being his Air attack from Sonic Battle, B-Air just being his Smash B-Air since Brawl, and N-Air being the Insta-Shield, though specifically the one from Sonic Advance 3 when you pair Sonic up with Knuckles. Up Air doesn't really have a specific reference. Maybe a part of his jab combo from Frontiers, other than that, it's just Sonic using his legs to attack as always. This is a really cool mod, and I love seeing all the little references sprinkled throughout Sonic’s moveset and alts. You can tell that there's been a lot of care put into this, and as a Sonic fan, I appreciate that. Fun fact: that taunt in the air after you do an attack is the air trick, it’s been in a majority of sonic games, most prominently Sonic Rush. The side-by is “Rocket Accel” from Sonic Heroes. Tapping the button would have you get kicked forward and slide, while holding it would have your teammates kick you forward in a spin dash with much greater speed than the slide kick.
The Side-B is the Rocket Accel from Heroes! (Super weird to see without Tails and Knuckles hitting him to send him flying lol) And hitting it early is the kick that Sonic does if you hit the Rocket Accel button when Tails and Knuckles aren't next to you Between that and the F-Air from Advance 2 and the Jab being his basic combo from Sonic Battle (Up-Smash is his launcher from the same game), the Bounce Bracelet from SA2, the Insta-Shield from S3&K, the Sonic the Fighters F-Smash; there's just so much care put into making his moveset reflect his history (especially the early 2000s) *AND AIR TRICKS TOO!* And that's not even mentioning the voices, alt costume references or spawn platforms. Man this is so well made I will never stop being mad at Sonic's portrayal in Smash. He's so lame to play as or against, both his stages kinda suck and are basically Green Hill, his model and animations are lifeless and the music selection is... fine Overall, he could be SO MUCH but instead he still feels like that rushed character that came out in Brawl (Plus I'm still salty Eggman wasn't DLC. If you get the Chaos Emeralds (Buddy) from the workshop Sonic can transform. Super Sonic for Base Sonic. Hyper for his Super Form, The “False Chaos and Rage” costume will turn into Dark Super Form. You should definitely check it out. If you get the final smash buddy he will also use a entirely new final smash skill. These little secrets are definitely the coolest, i reccomend you experience it yourself

the side B is from heroes, it's the rocket accel, you hold the b button and charge a little dash, but if you just press it, it does the kick
A small easter egg you might have missed, but when you fought Eggman he actually had a voice line acknowledging that he was fighting Sonic (17:29)

If you get the Chaos Emeralds (Buddy) from the workshop Sonic can transform. Super Sonic for Base Sonic. Hyper for his Super Form, The “False Chaos and Rage” costume will turn into Dark Super Form. You should definitely check it out. If you get the final smash buddy he will also use a entirely new final smash skill. These little secrets are definitely the coolest, i reccomend you experience it yourself
