    Very pretty! You are brave to not cut all 8 layers at once and work so hard to get a exact placement with the split stacks! I like the partial kaleidoscopes in the corners. Very cool!

    I always enjoy watching you and learn so much from you.....an idea possibly to help with this.....take a clear contac paper and put it OVER the ruler.....you can mark registration marks on the contact paper with a marker ...then you can find the same area on your fabric all the time. And you can take the contact paper off without ruining you ruler. this would help for people who don't want to cut all the layers at once

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 лет назад +1

      What a great tip - you can also use this same method with a dry-erase marker directly on your ruler :)

    This is a gorgeous quilt kit, with terrific traditional Christmas colours that have been missing in fabric collections over the last few years (especially the "forest' green). I would highly recommend using PENCIL on fabric, as Frixion pens were not created for fabric, as the manufacturer Pilot attest. Pencil washes off, whereas Frixion pen chemicals stay on fabric and can reappear when washing and may show through the quilt at the white/cream fabric parts. Thanks for this "hints and tips" video Jennifer.

    Absolutely beautiful quilt and thank you Jennifer for showing us how to make those blocks. Can one use any fabric that has rows of stripes?

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  7 лет назад

      You can use any fabric you'd like! Even if it is a more crowded print it would be lovely as a kaleidoscope- there just won't be as much blank space if it isn't laid out like a strip :) Hopefully that makes sense!

    Tip...if you place your piece you are matching up onto your ruler with a double sided tape or the little grip dots and lay it over the top of your layered fabric it makes it easier. 😉 I saw that somewhere on RUclips and thought I would share

      @ShabbyFabrics  5 лет назад

      Hi Ellen! Thanks for watching! We don't use smaller stitches than normal here, although that's certainly an option if you want to. We're just very careful not to pull, push, or tug on the fabric as it feeds through the machine to prevent warping. Hope that helps! - Morgan

    Instead of making 2 stacks of 4 why not make 1 stack of 8 eliminating problems being exact on the 2 stacks? Nothing a new blade in your 60mm rotary blade couldn't handle!

    • @ShabbyFabrics
      @ShabbyFabrics  2 года назад +1

      That is a great option! While we do use fresh blades for new projects, we typically keep our stacks lower due to routine and cutting accuracy (i.e. instead of messing up 8 cuts at a time, we'd only mess up 4 😊 ) 💖 -Michelle
