    Just yesterday afternoon I learned that Uptone was able to fix my UltraCap LPS-1 and that it's on it's way back!...if any of the viewers were curious how that turned out lol

    Absolutely worth it, especially if you can pick one up used. If you've always just connected your to your DAC straight from your PC, then words really won't do this justice. It's an impressive upgrade, and will scale quite well with higher tier source gear.

    Nice review!!! but the dealbreaker for me is it cant do samplerate > 768 Hz and I absolutely need 1.5 million Hz from HQPlayer to my Holo Spring, but I hope they release an updated version which does 1.5 mil or more in the future.

    Enjoyed the review. I do enjoy my ultraRendu as a roon bridge between my ROCK/NUC and Spring 3 KTE. It does a better job than the Allo DigiOne that I'm using as roon bridge on my other system. I bought the ultraRendu and a LPS new and though I have no regrets it might have been better if I went used because honestly, IMO at new msrp for the uRendu and an LPS you're halfway to an entry level Lumin or Auralic streamer.

      I bought a Lumin u1 mini for the heck of it and while it sounds good I honestly don't think it sounds as good as my microrendu with ci audio power supply. And the Lumin keeps wanting to restart and glichy in my network.

    Thank you for your reviews, I always learn something and I trust your opinion. I have been looking at the UltraRendu for a few weeks and your review is liking going to tip the scale in favor of trying it out. BTW, is there any chance you will be doing a review of the Questyle CMA 15 dac amp combo?

    I am within 9 days of buying the Volumio Rivo. I have bought the BOTW mr2 L.P. with upgrade 5v-6.5v and 3A out .
    Questions.
    1) Can I use 3A with the Sonore?
    2) which do you prefer sound wise the Ultra rendu or the Rivo?
    3) I am essentially a technology Neanderthal ,the more technological choices I have to make the less competent I feel to even make even a semi informed guess.
    I see there are 3 options , I have compiled a large you tube music library so even though I am looking for source up to 768 to match my RME ADI 2 DAC I would be reluctant to totally loose all my saved play lists etc.
    PS £1100 is my max any other streamer only device's I could consider? (USB out pref)

    Will it stream amazon natively like the wiim pro or have an external interface like BlueOS in the BlueSound node?

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  Год назад +1

      No, I don't think there's a good way to use Amazon with the uR. As soon as Amazon ever releases an API third parties can use (seems like an 'if' at this point), I'm sure Sonore will have an app that can be installed to be compatible. But I think the core issue is Amazon just not releasing their API to very many.

    Sorry for the boomer question, but is the web-based user interface similar to an app with a short cut on my device, or is it a web site where you make an account?

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  Год назад

      Once you're connected the quickest way is to write down its IP address. Then go to a web browser and type that IP address in the address bar and press enter. That will take you to the web-based UI. Then it's just point and click (desktop) or tap (mobile) from there.

      Thank you, sir. I didn't think much of streaming at first, and so I opted for blue tooth just to get in on the novelty. The noise floor is chest high to a tall guy, and the hiss is rattling my fillings loose. Congrats on your power supply.@@wavetheorysound

    very interesting review!
    sonore => usb dac vs. pc => su-6 => i2s dac ?

    • @wavetheorysound
      @wavetheorysound  Год назад +1

      In the majority of cases, yes, I'd take the uR as a source over direct pc->SU-6. The SU-6 is VERY good at cleaning up signal noise, but of course it's only going to do better when it has less to clean up. Most of the time, the uR's usb signal is going to be cleaner than anything coming from a pc.

    • @Peace_Guard
      @Peace_Guard Год назад +1

      Seems to be a rule that streaming works better.
      As per Koji's info on Red, even within the same product streamer outperforms I2S DDC.
      But Red I2S DDC will still beat uRendu & SU-6.

    30 minutes and you don’t explain, technically, how this works.
    There is no noise floor with a packet of data being sent out of a network streamer. The packet gets there or it doesn’t. The receiving device can order the packets in a buffer or it can’t. If packets are corrupted then it fails spectacularly and you end up with a skip or broken signal.
    One could use wireshark and A/B test the packets sent from this vs a typical LAN connection from your router - the result would be the same. If they’re different, it’s literally altering the sound file before moving it along, in which case I’d try to rip the file and compare it to the original waveform.
    If there is any actual difference, then what you’re hearing is likely the difference between subtle characteristics with however the DDC works off USB vs LAN (again, you wouldn’t need a network streamer to get this effect)
