Sucks about the exposure stepping! Not really acceptable (in my opinion) for a video focused zoom lens. Hopefully they can sort it out before the lens is released.
It’s hard to talk about it before I can use the raw files of the xh2s since I’m looking at jpgs that might have corrections on them. I’m my experience though, the lens performed very well in all conditions. Very surprising for a lens that does so much
@@TaylorJacksonPhoto It'd be really interesting once the camera is out though. It is said this lens has incredible autofocus, being tuned for the new system and thus outperforming other lenses.
Fuji lenses for photography have an aperture ring, manual zoom ring if zoom, and generally they have controlls which are better suited to photography. They also often have OIS in the lens, the optical stabilisation can really help hand hold some shots, especially combined with in body stabilsation. Also the photography lenses have a priority on sharpness throughout the frame, edge to edge, corners and centre. This lens tens to be a little soft away from the centre, compared to other Fuji lenses - but for film work this is probably a good thing for the most part. There are different design principals and this lens is heavily aimed towards video use, while being suitable for both.
I love this lens' potential -- I don't mind using some higher ISOs, but I'm a little worried about using f4 for sports photography/videography. I like the size-weight so much better than the 5-140 2.8. But, I'm concerned about low light.
How's the focus ring travel? This is very similar to Sony's 18-105 power zoom, and one issue I have with that lens is the focus ring goes from close to far in barely an inch of turn. Very difficult to get precise focus manually.
You are probably going to get a lot of questions like this, but: How does this compare to the 16-80mm? I am looking to replace my Nikon 24-120 after recently getting an x-t4. Is this the lens I am looking for?
how do you zoom from the LCd screen. i am using the XH2s and i donˋt see the zoom function on the lcd screen. Is there a setting I need to activate in order to see it? help please
Perhaps the lens auto-steps when it is in auto exposure or any priority mode? Was it used in all manual? Perhaps if the camera is on manual everything the exposure won't step? In any case, Thanks so much for the video.
I found you need to put in Auto ISO and have the rest manually dialed in for best results with all of the Fuji lenses. Regardless I hope they fix this bug because the camera is capable on Auto ISO mode.
Hopefully Fuji fixes the exposure stepping before releasing these new products. Of the lenses I own or tested, the 10-24, 16-55, 18-55 step while zooming but the 50-140 does not. I think it’s a camera issue and not a lens issue.

Colors are up to you. I prefer Fuji colours, but use a canon R3 and R6 for my specific needs of doing both photo and video at the same time on a wedding day. If I just did landscapes or portraits either would be great
How was the low light with this lens for video considering it’s only a f4? I find myself doing real estate videos and some concerts. Seeing how you think it might perform?
Real estate I always want to be as wide as I can be, so 18 probably wouldn’t cut it for me. For low light tests, I was just running it on the h2s and won’t have access to my low light example raw files for another month or so until Adobe updates
You do not want a lens with this zoom ratio for architecture and you need to go far wider. High contrast lines require very good optical quality, something impossible in such a zoom. The 8-16mm f2.8 zoom will do the job.
I have a Fuji X-T10 and X-T2 with a 16mm, 23mm, 35mm, 90mm and a 18-55mm. Would it be worth it to purchase this lens as it combines all my prime lenses?

Seems typical in video or broadcast lenses since most times they are part of a stabilized rig. Would be interesting to see a comparison with the FUJINON MKX18-55mmT2.9 since this brings par focal and power zooming to the one person documentarian
@@benard702 I think the team that designed the MK lenses were brought in for the design of this. That being said it is not a broadcast lens, it's pro-sumer and ois would have been pretty helpful. Still seems to have a lot going for it.

@@TaylorJacksonPhoto Improved a lot but isn’t it a bit disappointing to come up with the same kind of issues re-video autofocus than previous models: like the changes in exposure when zooming in or out, the weird things in the corners,…. They’ve been working for at least 3 years on this thing. Still have my XT-2 and was waiting for this xh2s or xh2 (not sure a 40 megapixel sensor on apsc won’t bring some other issues). At this price point, it’s significantly more expensive than a Nikon Z6II. I’m not really interested in video but if I pay this kind of price, I want video to work as it should for when I need it. Without the weight issue of FF, I would happily go back to Nikon (my first love) or even Canon (the R6 really seems like a win for Canon). Hi Tayor,
Which alternative for photography would you recommend instead of this lens? Thanks

For video I think it could be reasonable. For photo it would depend on the venues you typically shoot at. I’d probably want to go 2.8 for pictures
