    In this video, I’ll finish the Tiling Toolpaths project we designed using Vectric Aspire Version 11.5. I’ll first show you the project materials, and describe the finish I’ve applied off-camera. Then I’ll show you how I’m mounting the material to my spoilboard, then walk you through my process for carving the project step by step.
    I’ll then wrap things up by showing you the finished project, and discuss what I’ve learned along the way.
    As usual, if you have any comments or questions about anything I covered in this video, please join me for the Live Q&A, or put ‘em in the comment section below.
    On Sunday, April 28th, I’ll be hosting a LIVE Q&A session, where you can ask your questions pertaining to anything I’ve covered in this video. That Q&A starts at 3 pm Eastern time, Noon Pacific time. Hope to see you there!

    Hey Mark! Great video! Nice to see I’m not the only one to take more than a week to complete a project!
    Where do you get your alignment pins?

      While you can use any kind of dowel, even hardwood dowels if you'd like, these are the ones I bought from Amazon (affiliate link.) amzn.to/4dryp4U

    Another great one Mark. What brand tape (blue) did you use with the CA glue? Looked like it didn't to adhere to the sleds MDF material at all. I want to avoid purchasing if that's the case.

    • @MarkLindsayCNC
      @MarkLindsayCNC  4 месяца назад

      I use 3M's blue painter's tape. The blue painter's tape adhered to everything just fine. It's just that the glue is stronger than the tape, so it all came off cleanly. That's typical. It was slightly off camera, but what I do is use an old Craftsman chisel and slipped it in between the fence board and the sled, then slowly pried up on the fence board from that end. It lifted the tape up off that end of the sled, then just peeled right off over the entire length of the sled. It does the same when I use it on my spoilboard. I'll talk about it more on Sunday's live Q&A, but I also tested out some double-sided tape at the same time. It didn't hold worth beans. That's why I didn't shout it out in the video.

    I am doing a similar project but I'm carving on a 2x12 piece of lumber. Would your process stay the same or would you change anything to accommodate the larger piece of wood??

    • @MarkLindsayCNC
      @MarkLindsayCNC  3 месяца назад +1

      The process would stay the same, with the exception of the measurements, of course. This project turned out very nice, so if I needed to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing.

    Hello - I watched your tiling video. I am helping a Scout with her Eagle project. My portion is carving a sign where the single line of words is 44” wide. Splits CAMP WAKEHAM between the W and A. I have vcarve desktop so I can’t tile and my limit is 24”. Any chance you can help me? Do you know of a video that shows my predicament? Thank you!

    Do you find it easier to change tools and rezero for each tile or do Tool 1 on both tiles then Tool 2 on both tiles? I've tried both ways and still undecided. It reduces the number of times I need to rezero the Z. EDIT as i think about for your case because of the composite nails, zero-z would be easier. I use dog holes and horizontal clamps most of the time.

      I complete the first tile before moving on to the next tile. I really don't mind tool changes, and I use a touch plate to set Z zero, so it's no problem for me.
