FAK = First Aid Kit
I-FAK = Individual First Aid Kit

Some important points to consider about my LEVEL-II FAK
-This is not an end-all kit, rather my current thought process on a kit with adequate depth of medical capabilities for a group operating in a remote environment given certain size & weight constraints
-This kit is intended for providing care for my family members & close friends . . . I am not out there trying to find people to treat
-Sterile vs Clean Concept
-Wear gloves!
-Vacuum bagging decreases bulk, increases durability of supplies and provides an indication of what needs to be replaced
-Eliminate liquids which always seem to leak
-Best way to clean a wound is copious amounts of fresh water . . . chemicals such as hydrogen peroxide & betadine are generally not needed (see prior video content)
-Dont get all caught up in the different gauze pads . . . they are all variants on the same theme with catchy names
-Kit OPTIONS . . . cyanoacrylate glue, QuickClot, sutures & prescription medications . . . OTC medications. Pick and choose based on YOUR needs and comfort level
-Please no hallway monitors or armchair experts . . . I feel comfortable with the kit and its capabilities given the stated POU

I appreciate the interest that these kits get, however, I would consider them a suggestion or jumping off point for someone building a kit of their own. This is what I have boiled down as what I want having built many, many kits. Hope that helps!

Ultimately you need to do what you are comfortable with since that is what is most important. Your FAK should reflect your anticipated needs . . . in the end, that should be the definition of a "good FAK". Remember the kit serves your needs not the other way around.

Another tip on finding 4x6 ziplock bags would be at any crafts store.
I recently got some at Walmart in the crafts dept for next to nothing.

Thanks for making this video. I have been on the fence about buying a pre-made kit or making my own, I think some times you pay extra for thing you don't need and the quality may not be there in pre-made kits. I just ordered my BH roll. Again thanks for that list of items that go in side the kit...Cheers guys.
@ppspsd - Good guess . . . actually residency trained and board certified emergency physician. Served active duty Navy as an emergency physician and worked very closely with corpsman on the blue and green side of things. Thanks for watching!

Doc, In my Levell two kit I use in my vehicle , I include a stehascope and cuff for blood pressure as my wife is a cardiac nurse, the pluse rate and BP is always something that is monitered in hospital, generally we are vehicle based in the outback when we go on a trip and can use either satphone or HF radio to communicate. We also include an IV drip for de hydration as we are in Australia and it can get quite hot on these trips, whats your view excessive or not, once again great work.

@hagerwarrior - First, I would recommend contacting you local / regional LifeFlight operation to get specific recommendations. For your given situation I would include a panel marker, marker strobe and a smoker marker. Hope that helps!

@808514 - I think this is a good kit in general to have close at hand. Of course with the understanding that one should only do what they feel comfortable with when providing care. I would never recommend someone do something outside of their scope of skill / training.

Two questions though..
1. In the PDF file what do the green numbers at the bottom right of each item mean?
2. Would J&J Surgipads work as ABD pads? I can't find ABD pads anywhere, but can find Surgipads in nearly every big box / drug store I visit.

The J&J pads will work as a substiute for ABD pads. They are basically the same.

Have you ever heard of an allergic reaction to a blood stopper by someone who is allergic to shell fish? I was trying to decide to stock some in my kit or skip it as i am highly allergic to shell fish.

I'm an ex-EMT with a Master's in Epidemiology. I have an extensive wilderness medicine library. I have an ultralight medical kit that would rival that of most medical clinics and know how to use it (I'm one of those gram counting freaks!). I was raised in hunting and fishing and trapping camps and have hiked all over the US. I could go on but I'm not trying to kiss my own butt, I'm trying to qualify my next comment: your videos are the absolute best I've seen on this topic. Period. I don't subscribe to any channels on RUclips but I'm going to subscribe to yours. No, I don't agree with you 100%, but keep up the excellent work.

@maxsutter For this particular kit I think that the
4.5"X7" will work good. They have a lotd if sisez available so it just depends on how much you want to cram in there. Thanks for watching the good Docs vid. Be safe out there.
@USNERDOC, What level of medical experience and/or knowledge would you recommend the use of a Level II FAK? Is this a good pack to have for a volunteer firefighter such as my self? Or is this pack a good one to have in general? I'm involved in several emergency service agencies so I'd like to know whats good. Great video btw.

@USNERDOC Hey Doc I emailed heath systems life flight yesterday and with in 15 min i got a response from the flight supervisor and he said a Blue LED Strobe and a signaling mirror. O and he also said ever one in my group should always carry Whistle Ive always carried one but i know the other guys don't mine on a piece of 550 around my neck under my cloths.
