I speak Dutch and I can tell that in Encanto they don’t really translate the meaning of the lyrics, but they pay more attention to the mouth movements. They make a song that fits the mouth of the characters. Of course they don’t change the whole song, but I just noticed it
The thing that I like in Italian and also Japanese songs in Disney movies is that despite the syllables of a line exceeding the original one, they still manage to sing them neatly.
I never noticed this particular trait of Italian lyrics, until people started to point it out in these songs. Then, I started to notice that this is a common practice not only when lyrics are adapted from another language (Italian tends to be a veeery plurisyllabic language), but even in songs originally written in Italian...I guess it's just a common practice, and it took me forever to realise x)
