It's insane to me that Pokemon Go is already 7 years old. We're actually closing in on a decade, never thought this game would be such a big part of my life for so many years but here we are.
@@beedywool A lot of quality of life improvements? Such as? I know a lot of them were removed. Increased spawn rates form incenses went from 1 every 30 seconds to 1 every 5 minutes when standing still, community event times went from 6 hours to 3 hours, remote raid passes have been nerfed where you can only do 5 a day, fail one and that raid is permanently gone-you can't retry it, remote pass prices are basically double, Pokémon spawn distances went from 40 meters to 80 meters back to 40 meters. Except for that daily incense and master ball, what other improvements are left?
Coming from someone who played in 2016, stopped and only started playing again this year, the game is million times better than it was. Nostalgia getting to everyone’s head.
Man 2016 was a movie! I remember getting myself a Dragonite about a month into the game and the nostalgia! I recently picked up the game again and I was level 39 when I stopped so to see level 50 now is crazy! I missed out probably on some good stuff the last 3 years but glad to be playing again!
1:16 Oh yeah... I forgot about that. 4:47 Wait, they were all the same colour? My memory is ****. 7:46 Yeah, I'll never forget that time I got my first Snorlax.
The game has improved but definitely not always for the better. Back in 2016, there were map spawn points where rare pokemon were almost always guaranteed to show up. One was near the neighborhood where I lived and I was able to farm wild Dratini.
I think they still have nests but the are super rare and super uncommon and change locations. Found a place that for like 20 minutes spawned nothing but charmanders
@@turtle_7777 they didnt remove nests. you find them at parks and town commons. like my town common is a nest. it changes the type of pokemon every i think 2 weeks? (i googled it, to double check. nests do change every 2 weeks)
one of my friends recently logged back into their account from 2016 and had all their old eggs still. he hatched a 10 and it was a snorlax, looked absolutely wild to see that in 2023
Don’t forget about pokegyms! Now they use a motivation system instead of overall points. Also I think people were able to all put in the same Pokémon. Which made Blissey broken for a while, but I could also be miss remembering. 2016 perfects: Kingler and Pidgeot
I got 7 100% IV from 2016. Starmie, Poliwhirl, Tentacool, Abra, Gengar, Pikchu, and Magikarp. I miss the old days of pidgey hunting and massive non stop pidgey evolves. personal best was 72 in one lucky egg.
monetization has definitely changed the game but ive been f2p since 2016 and i dont have many issues despite being rural and having the price increase of remote raid passes. but in 2016, lures also spawned so many more pokemon! i remember eating at a red robin and using one and catching SO many doduos LMAO
Back in 2016 I randomly caught a geodude that I evolved fully because I needed it for my collection. Ended up learning it was a hundo when the feature came out!
It reminds me of the day that I was first introduced to pokemon go in 2016. I liked pokemon in general so it was really fun for me. Me and my big brother rushed to greet our dad that came home from work, who showed us a drowzee with 50 candies. He told us about the game, and evolved the drowzee with us, that turned into a really cool psychic pokemon, Hypno. Now, in 2023, I've played pokemon so much that my 2 accounts have many great pokemon. Sure, there were times I almost deleted that app, but I always came back to this nostalgic game. Even if I would end up quitting pokemon go, it would always be a chunk of my nostalgic childhood and a happy memory.
I remember the og days from random gyarados and dragonite on the nearby to grinding out eggs for stardust and exp. God, what a time back then. I started late 2017, but it's a hobby of mine that I want to keep on doing as much as I can l.
I was 23 years old in 2016, I remember everyone was running around my town playing all summer long. It wasn’t uncommon to see multiple groups of 10 people clustered together walking around parks, down sidewalks, parking lots, etc. Boys, girls, college kids, teens, It brought my whole town to life. Esp around nighttime (8-11pm) It was such a cool nostalgic moment in time. 💯
Even though it wasnt in 2016, i wanted to mention that you got legendary pokemons from the research breakthrough when it came out, and now the research box sucks
I hate to be depressing but 2016 was such a time to be alive. The crowds this game drew at public parks was unbelievable. Now I feel like everyone is antisocial with no desire to get out.
7:36 Did you mean to say nerfed research breakthrough box? Also, back in the day, the whole game was about catching Pokemon, but now we can battle in raids (as you mentioned), defeat team rocket, purify shadow legendaries, world championships, walk on routes created by our fellow community members, participate in community days locally or be a part of one organized by Niantic.
well out of curiosity I found your first Pokemon Go video and I must say, you've aged very well. However, I was shocked to find you didn't know what a Koffing was lol
You have forgotten that phones and tablets are a lot different now. The game has changed with the devices. Pokemon has also kind of listened to its fans. Yes the people of 2016 had to grind the accounts compared to now but we had more community's. We cant safely say that Niantic has killed pokemon due to the neffing of raids but we can agree that covid did not help. Raid days we use to have 30-40 players per day now we dont get that our local raid groups are dead never really recovered.
i only have 1 2016 pokemon and thats my starter, started playing again this year not knowing anything about the game and kinda transferred all my pokemon other than my starter
I heavily played this game back in 2016. Then slowed down around 18-19 and lost my access until literally a few days ago. Not sure why it took so long for customer support to help me out with my login issues. Catching up on all the changes now is fun, small storage spaces & shortage of stardust isn't xD
The only Hundo I got in 2016 was a Primape, which I caught on 12/31/2016. Ironically, that's also my birthday. Fast Forward to 2022, Anniiape gets introduced as a new evolution for Primape. You bet I'm very excited to evolve my OG Hundo once Anniliape debuts to GO!
5:45 "It gives me so much anxiety to look back and watch old videos catching 3000 CP Dragonites using nothing but maybe an Ultra Ball and some Razzberries"...yeah I don't think so. Remember Savage Season using only a Nanab berry and a poke ball????
Listening to the good old day vs today comparisons, I realise that we went a bit back to how it was, when we didn't know the iv's beforehand. Simply go back to when you encountered all those Galarian Legendary Birds that fled after one ball. You will never know if it was a hundo, because the information isn't out there 😂
The remote raid nerf was the worst thing to happen and the final nail in the coffin. Also the legendarys are ridicilusly hard catch. Even landing golden razzberies with several spinning ball excellent throws does nothing. And you cant even use a masterball when you need it, only premier ball.
I was that jerk that screamed, "Shiny!" While walking past huge crowds of people playing in 2016. Most people would look at me super confused. Other mainline Pokemon players would just smile and call me an idiot haha.
I redownloaded Pokémon Go literally this past Saturday to play Froakie Comm day & it was fun even tho a lot has changed since the last year & a half I played
I used to live across a big park that is located in my city. (Humboldt Park, Chicago) and I still remember seeing literally everyone playing Pogo while playing with my little sister. I think, for that moment, we achieved world peace lol
It just shows that Pokémon that were common back then are not as frequent as they are now and Pokémon that were next to impossible to get back then are pretty common sight these days
Leafeon, beedrill, steelix, Gyarados, kingler, Golduck. All hundo before 2017. Earliest July 2016, once the community figured out the statements the leaders said, I started hunting the magical formula.
Remember when I was at the mall with my dad and played gogo at his phone. Then a wild snorlax appeared. I shouted: “Snorlax” and like 3 other kids begged their parents to hand their phones so they could catch the snorlax. 5 hour later, I accidentally deleted the snorlax and I cried for hour after that
hilarious enough, i just remembered the IV prompts & named them just like we do now with their stats lol. i still have a gengar from 2016 named "HAIV" (HP + ATTK)
i stopped playing for a while cause lots of people i watch on youtube stopped playing and my friends and than it was hurting my phone. The good old days in Pokemon Go.

The great laggy memory’s of Pokémon go
How about we ask Niantic to revert Pokémon Go back to 2016? Remove all the features that were added after 2016. Right? Would make it so much better.
