- I had such a great time making this cake because it used a combo of different cake decorating techniques. I had to marble the fondant for the background, then I made fondant canes to create the "stickers" for the lily pads and the petals of the water lilies. I also incorporated painting with edible gel colors.
Initially, I was planning on leaving the lily pads white, but then I decided to paint a very translucent layer of green color over the top. I loved the way that turned out because you can still see the color variation that originally existed in the white lily pads. I haven't quite made up my mind about whether I prefer them white or green. What do you think?
FONDANT
I use Fantasia Fondant for this technique because it has a long working time and does a good job of sticking together. www.fantasiafondant.com Хобби
Sooo beautiful!❤️❤️❤️
Love the white.
Thank you! I appreciate you giving your opinion. I like to know what you all think.
love the steamer idea
It works great and takes away any cornstarch too
Ooh 😍 the fondant on the cake reminded me of the inside of an abalone shell
Hey that’s true!. I didn’t notice that.
Superb❤❤❤
Thank you very much 🥰
It’s lovely as all your works!! The painting technique looks so classic !! May i ask how long it takes for the colours to dry completely ?? And also, won’t the fondant lose shape because of the colour ?? Thanks again for presenting these wonderful .. for free !! ❤
You’re very welcome! The drying time depends on how many layers of paint you apply. It also depends on how humid your workspace is so it hard to say. It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. Or it may remain a little sticky. It also depends on whether or not you refrigerate your cake. But the fondant doesn’t lose its shape.
@@kyongscakesncrafts many thanks 😊
Anytime!
Green. To me the white is too stark, too jarring.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!♥️
