I took FCP for a test drive when it was first released, but I wasn't impressed than. But it seems like it has come a long way with the updates, I might need to try it again. Great video, thanks for sharing.
Technically yes, but it’s not as easy as on Mac. With the Mac you can of course save effects presets, but on iPad that option is not available just yet. You’d need to adjust the transform scale Y parameter manually to desqueeze it, which could take a long time applying to each clip. My recommendation would be to desqueeze one, and then copy effects from the first clip to all of your other clips. Not optimal, but is doable in a pinch!
Is there a way after you’re done with your project to only keep the footage used in the project saved and discard all the raw footage you did not use? I like saving my projects, but I don’t need to keep all the original footage I never used in the finished project.
I really wish they would add stabilization as an option - it's basically what's keeping me from fully committing to Final Cut on ipad as I shoot on mobile devices and can't stand the hoop jumping Davinci Resolve makes you do and my footage still doesn't look nearly as good as it does with a straight import into Final Cut Pro
I'm new to FCP and Im tryin to create a template for my videos such as, music, subscribe, intro, and outro , so that I wont have to manually do it on every video. Can you assist me?
I really wish Apple would give us the ability to record multicam in the Desktop app. I have way more storage on the desktop for the ideas I have than I do with my iPad.
Hello Daylan, Thank you for the video❤. Request to make a video on Effect or transition apply on primary timeline. This means that when we apply any effect or transition on primary timeline it automatically apply on secondary timeline which is below primary. Thank you
I stopped paying subscription for Final Cut iPad as it lacks stabilisation and advance colour correction conspired to the Mac version. Still disappointed that the magnetic mask didn’t make it to iPad. I will wait till Apple add magnetic mask then i will start paying subscription.
Legit question: Who’s the market for ipad Final Cut? With the MacBooks and “editing ready” iPads being closer in price, I’m trying to understand why someone would engage with this over Final Cut for desktop. You’re still probably going to have to carry a ssd and no one is filming on an iPad (unless you’re making an apple ad). I mean, I want the Final Cut ecosystem to expand but I was hoping for something that would offer some sort of really well integrated mobile solution (you can ingest an untra-lightweight version of your footage to run your rough cuts on the go (even iPhone) then bring it home, ingest the full footage and keep working on the desktop app. But this current app feels like something for an entirely different crowd than desktop users.
I’m not personally the target audience, but I think the generation after me will absolutely eat it up. Also the way it ties into Final Cut Camera is actually magical. Doing a 4 camera multicam, in 4K log from literally anywhere in the world is absolutely insane. And now that Final Cut Camera has HEVC filming, the need for SSD’s became way less prevalent. It’s not the most robust editor in the world, but it gets a lot of the core features right. And once you get the hang of some of the key differences, it’s actually a very fun and new way to edit. In the end, it’s 100% okay to not be the target audience for it. But I also think it’s important to consider the next generation of editors, who were born with an iPad in their hand, often times prefer a touch screen over a keyboard and mouse.
Having used it while on holiday, I absolutely get that the next gen of filmmakers will love it. Teenagers don’t have lots of money so an iPad and a small monthly subscription could be more affordable than a MacBook Pro and the standard FCP. More films are being made with an iPhone and an iPad is the ideal editor for that. It’s really light because you don’t need a keyboard or massive memory, nor do you need an enormous camera bag. It’s not really for those editing dslr, etc, footage. It’s for those who want to create videos on the move with a compact setup. I’m sold! (But I still have my iMac for the studio stuff!)
What’s your favorite addition to FCP on iPad 2.1? I’d love to hear it! Also I have a video all about Final Cut Camera 1.1 coming out tomorrow!
Great tutorial!
Awesome update and features 🎉
Has iPad Version Video Stabilisation ?
How to add motion blur effect to fcp ipad version

Awesome video Dylan! Hope magnetic mask comes soon as well. By the way, am I overlooking something or FCP for iPad lacks stabilization?
I’m trying to remember off the top of my head, but I think you might be right unfortunately!
First! thanks Dylan 👏🏻
This is great. Is it possible to desqueeze anamorphic clips in iPad FCP? I'm used to doing it on Mac.

magnetic mask when?
How to do video stabilisation?

I don't use FCP on my iPad (which is about 200 years old) but it is interesting to see iPad FCP developments. Many thanks Dylan.

Hello mate, Can you use third party plugin’s in new Final Cut update for iPad Pro!! I have M2 iPad Pro 12.9 1 Tb..
I'm new to FCP and Im tryin to create a template for my videos such as, music, subscribe, intro, and outro , so that I wont have to manually do it on every video. Can you assist me?

I’m really hoping for that too. Would be an absolute game changer!!
i love video . thank you so much !

Hey there! Unfortunately that requires an adjustment layer, which doesn’t yet exist in FCP on iPad. Hopefully that comes soon!
@TheFinalCutBro Thank you for your help. Regards

FCP crashes since the update. IPad pro Gen6 :(
Once you can import custom luts I can justify the ipad version.
