Wow, what a huge subject with massive implications for our future that I knew absolutely Sweet FA about
This is what David does so well: extremely intelligent presentation of critical info we knew little or nothing about

Great guest, very informative. The light is being shined on the quiet decay of our military forces thanks to our allies. This guest provides some hope that the correct steps and plans are in place to move forward with the literal minimum requirements needed to be a player in our own nation sovereignty and security.

Timely interview. I certainly have questions and doubts about military spending in Canada.

Our politicians have failed us. Big time.

400 billionaire families working since LBJ to usurp the west thru Léonard Leo, capturing the American Supreme Court, the heritage foundation, ziklag and whatever other Christian nationalist organization they have created, have the resources to do that in every country, and they’re in Canada. The call is coming from within the house.

If Canadians think spending an additional 20 billion annually on defense is a big problem, wait till Trump gets in and our 2-way trade is targeted. $ 20 billion will seem like pocket change when our economy is crippled.

I get the feeling, watch this channel, that Canada's apex domestic political figures really don't pay attention to events outside our continent.

To be fair though, Canadian's in general don't pay attention to events outside of our continent.
It's another cliche, one of many repeated ad nauseam on this podcast, but our elections are not decided on foreign policy. And I'd say you can easily expand that to include military spending, as this gentlemen touches on.
Gentleman referring to Dr. Perry, not Herle. Obviously.

Canada’s military has been in a steady decline since 1968 with moments of glory…Unification was the start of the long bleed out….prove me wrong…sometimes you have to fix things from the past before you can move forward in a meaningful manner

Great interview. Even with what is going on in Ukraine doesn't it feel like China is still more of threat than Russia? Interesting times we live in.

When it comes to Canada's place in the world, the best example I have heard is that Canada will never build a space shuttle, but we can build the Canadarm to go into it.

David you asked some great questions and your guest was pretty good at painting around the edges but didn't really get into the actual challenges and speak to the real chaos that is National Defence.. The CAF has had a vacuum at the leadership level which has lost sight of why a military exists. The priority has been removing white heterogeneity across the ranks, emphasizing the individual ahead of a team as well as the operational mission. seeking to accommodate at every turn making LGBTQS, hair colour and length as well as making uniforms more about individual fashion statements. The solution isn't going to be found in a mirage of gender or recruiting, transgender. The focus is on what makes a military professional and those who understand and want to be a professional are leaving faster than they are being replaced.

Annecdotal, but I have heard from northern pilots who claim to have seen surfaced Chinese subs flying the Chinese flag. No doubt US subs are in Canadian Arctic waters tracking Chinese and Russian subs.
