  • Following is Jeff Halper’s monthly update on events and political developments in Palestine/Israel. While we at ICAHD place great importance on critical analysis in finally reaching a just and inclusive political settlement, Jeff has asked us to acknowledge that his remarks are being made at a moment when Palestinians in Gaza face what may well become a genocidal Israeli invasion, and that we at ICAHD extend our solidarity to them, together with keeping them constantly in our thoughts.
See ICAHD’s statement on these events on our website -

"War Against the People: Israel, the Palestinians, and Global Pacification" is a book by Jeff Halper, an Israeli anthropologist, and activist. The book explores the concept of "global pacification" and its application in the Israeli-Palestinian context. Here's a summary of its main points:
    1. **Global Pacification:** Halper introduces the concept of "global pacification," which refers to the strategies and technologies used by powerful states and entities to suppress resistance, maintain control, and enforce their interests. He argues that Israel has become a laboratory for such pacification strategies.
    2. **Military and Security Industry:** The book highlights the role of the military and security industry in the global arms trade. It discusses how Israel has emerged as a major player in this industry, exporting surveillance, policing, and security technologies to governments and corporations worldwide.
    3. **Palestinian Displacement and Control:** Halper examines the impact of Israeli policies on Palestinian communities, including house demolitions, land seizures, and displacement. He argues that Israel's actions are not only aimed at controlling the Palestinian population but also serve as a testing ground for pacification strategies that are later exported.
    4. **International Complicity:** The book addresses the role of international actors, including governments and corporations, in supporting Israeli policies and profiting from the global pacification industry. Halper calls attention to the complicity of these actors in perpetuating the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
    5. **Nonviolent Resistance:** Halper discusses nonviolent resistance movements by Palestinians and their allies and explores the strategies used to challenge occupation and dispossession.
    6. **Quest for Peace and Justice:** Throughout the book, Halper emphasizes the need for a just and sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He calls for international solidarity and for the global community to take a stand against policies that perpetuate oppression.
"War Against the People" provides a critical analysis of the Israeli occupation and its global implications, emphasizing the connection between pacification strategies and the arms trade. It calls for a reevaluation of international policies and practices related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

How does Jeff Halper know that Hamas does not represent the bulk of the Palestinian people?

The same way you know not all Jews are Zionists.
People can speak for themselves bro. Also, the problem is not Hamas, the main problem here is the colonization under a fascist Jew government, the Zionism. You have to read the true history of Palestinian people to understand how they were kicked out of their homes.
Do you think the Jews who came to Palestine were responsible for its economic prosperity? No, the fact is that it was financed by international Zionism with a government in charge (England) that betrayed the Arabs. They took the most fertile lands, forcing the Arabs to give them up.
Never forget the cause. What we see know are just synthoms of genocide.
England and the Zionism are the first responsables of this 90 years war.

It's quite simple. HAMAS was elected in 2006 to lead the P.A., but because of that, the US tried to have them overthrown by violence, torture, political arrests, etc., they refused to recognize them, and sealed Gaza, and for the past 17 years, they have not had any elections in Gaza, and HAMAS has grown more radical. So it is now incumbent upon YOU to show that they are still in power following free and fair, internationally observed elections, as they once were. Which is going to be hard since they haven't had any elections.
