This is my entire experience of grad school and I feel so much better knowing that this is struggle other people are sharing. People always talk about how perfectionism doesn't let you finish a project, but it's the 'never letting you start a project' that is my constant battle.
Your saying that this is something that should have been published two years ago reminds me that I'm not the only one. Currently halfway through my second year of my PhD, still working on a manuscript that should have been published last year with two more coming down the pipe that need to get written up as well. And I've also never published before. You can do it! Congrats on the progress so far! Guess I'll get back to writing too, thanks for the motivation :)
I am in the same position right now - working on my dissertation while stressing about not having a peer reviewed article published yet… but working on it! Congrats on submitting and keep us posted on the outcome!
Oh no, don't fear feedback! Nobody is out there to tear you apart. Good reviewers are there to push your intellectual limits, sharpen your edge. See it as part of the journey. You can do it, Kaelyn. Focus on what you can deliver atm, not what you think you should deliver.
More content like this pls. Most of youtubers focus on the the "what it should be" or the "success" but I really appreciate youtubers share their hardships and struggles that help me to relate with them more. keep it up
I have gone through various levels of stress when I first started my master's thesis then I became used to the stress for every conference paper I finish to publish. Now that I'm going through my PhD, it's like going back to basics all over again. I can relate to your anxiety, Kaelyn. Keep grinding. Cheers! 🥰🤓😍
Good luck! The pressure to publish as a grad student is annoying so don't beat yourself up on how long it takes to get it out. Your work sounds interesting and like it will make important contributions.
CONGRATULATIONS on submitting it!!!! Finished is better than perfect!!! This 24 hour work session is now going to motivate me during my own finals hahah
i just turned in my senior thesis for a BA in history a few weeks ago and this brought back a lot of memories of stress and turmoil. i never want to write for a grade again :) no thanks
Bruh, back at it again with papers procrastinated on and now down to the wire again. I have a total of around 20 pages to finish by Wednesday and 15 or so more by next Monday all while maneuvering around work. Let's do this
I began the ACOTAR books at the request (or rather, demand) of Shanell and Katie and while I didn't really love the first book or the first half of the second, by the third, I was sold. I am enjoying to process of reading the books but am also paying heed to the feedback online
I am planning to do a PhD in ancient history at the US, and I am also thinking about publishing my first article at this stage. Is there free time with the courses to write the article? greetings and I hope your article goes well 😊

You've got this! The peer review process is so grueling but so rewarding, once you get to the other side!

Quote of the Day: “It’s not like I am trying to write new words, I’m just trying to make them better.”
haha indeed

This feels like an aesthetically pleasing dramatic representation of my life if I was a PhD candidate.

i just turned in my senior thesis for a BA in history a few weeks ago and this brought back a lot of memories of stress and turmoil. i never want to write for a grade again :) no thanks
Haha fair enough!
Kaelyen, please I have a question, In the statement of purpose, can I write a personal situation as a reason for choosing the PhD topic?

Soldier on my friend!! Good luck!!
6:06 SJM is immensely polarising: Either she’s applauded or people are shocked. There’s no in between.

9:57 Haha I’d love to write under an American supervisor so I’m 9-12 hours ahead of schedule at any given point lol
It is definitely a perk of time zone difference

Do you do your citations from scratch? Do you use any websites like easybib?
I prefer to write all my citations though I sometimes use zotero
Congrats on 100K subscribers! Does your publication need to be SSCI indexed? Do you have such a requirement?
Thank you! Not as far as I am aware but each publication has their own guidelines
