I played the original version of Modern Naval Battles and its two expansions like mad, back in 1989 and the early '90s. I laminated all the cards. We divided the ships into two fleets, NATO and Warsaw Pact. The US had all those wonderful carriers, but the Soviets had all those submarines.
First of all, let me say that I'm a big fan of this game. The narrator erroneously states that a passive submarine is underwater. Well, yeah, but being underwater is not the reason why the submarine is passive. An active submarine can be underwater too. "Passive" means the sub is not making an attack or using it's active sonar (pinging) and is trying to stay relatively quiet making it harder to locate.
I just received the game in the mail last week, played with my 8 year old our first game. We love it! Thank you for this tutorial! It will be so helpful! This must be a new video because i recently searched on YT for this exact video, and all that came up were the game reviews. Thank you again! 😁
